    Q
Will Essentria D Dust work as well as Delta Dust & Drione Dust on brown recluse spiders?
Also, my exterminator mentioned that brown recluse spiders do not clean themselves, like other spiders, so how are powders effective on them? Thanks so much for your help!
    A
Actually, unlike other insects, spiders in general do not groom themselves, it's not just the brown recluse.  Powders can kill insects and spiders other ways than ingestion.  Powders can also cut the outer layer on insects and spiders which makes them dehydrate because their waxy protective outer layer does not hold in moisture anymore.  Also, when treating for spiders usually the spray and dust is applied more to get rid of the other insects around which is the spiders food source.  If there are no other insects around for the spiders to eat, the spiders will not want to be around anymore.  In addition to dust, we do have a Spider Control Kit which has a spray for the exterior of your home and glueboards for inside to monitor your insect situation.  Glueboards are great for catching spiders.

    Q
Is Essentria D Dust safe to use around small children?
I have three small children. How safe is Eco Exempt D Dust to use around them? One is an infant, so she is crawling around on the floor.
    A
Essentria D Dust is a very safe product to use around the home because it is an all natural product derived from plant botanicals.  However, as with any product, you would only want to place this product where the children do not come in direct contact with it.  This product is most effective when it is placed where the bugs hide, which would be inside wall voids, under baseboards, under appliances, and cracks and crevices.

    Q
    Hidden yellow jackets nest
I'm using this to kill a yellow jacket nest where my chimney meets my house. After dusting how long until I see results. I'm guessing multiple applications will provide the best results.
    A
It will take several days to see results when using a dust insecticide like Essentria D Dust to kill Yellow Jackets. Multiple applications may be needed depending on the size of the nest.

    Q
Will Essentria D Dust damage archived papers that are several centuries old?
Some documents delivered to the University Special Collections are infested with silverfish. CA State Law requires EPA Reg. pesticides to have the user trained in Hazcom. We want a product that will not damage ancient manuscripts and is NOT EPA Reg.
    A
Essentria D Dust is an all natural product that is EPA exempt but it is meant for cracks and crevices and not for treating papers as the oils in the product could damage them.  Dekko Silverfish packs could be used and do not have restrictions for use in CA and would be safe to use around papers. We wouldn't advice putting anything directly on the documents but would advise to clean by whatever means you normally would, like a soft paintbrush, etc and inspecting thoroughly. Then wash/treat the containers they were in and use the Dekko packs for any lingering in the area.
