Essentria IC3 is the most updated formulation of the EcoExempt IC2 product. Essentria IC3 was improved by adding the adjuvant in the concentrate, as well as a fragrance modifier was added to minimize any odors. Essentria IC3 is a flexible, broad-spectrum EPA FIFRA 25(b) exempt product and is organic compliant. This means it is a very safe insecticide for use around your family and pets, but still very effective. One of the best features of Essentria IC3 is that it has no aquatic toxicity. New Weapon to Add to My Bed Bug Arsenal
By Rodrick on November 28, 2011I use Essentria IC3 on hotel jobs for bed bugs at sites that were treated with traditional insecticides (Suspend, Phantom, Demon, etc) and I found it very effective. What I recommend is to mix Essentria IC3 with an IGR to add to the residual effect against bed bugs. This is a product I will continue to use.

Worked As Expected!

Trying to do my part to save the planet & rid my house of shield bugs, I opted for the 'greener' insecticide option. Extremely easy to mix & apply, & makes the whole house perimeter smell great! The initial application seemed to work its magic. However, just a few days later, I had a few more shield bugs, though not as many as before. This could be due to the weather getting colder. I'll try a much less diluted mixture if I need to apply again in the future. (Used 4oz of IC3 per gallon of water).

Works well for mosquito and no-see-um control
By No on May 8, 2012We diluted it 4:1 and added it to a Halloween fogger and placed it outside to lightly fog the yard. It has been the best thing we have used. We live near a lake and have a horrible mosquito problem...until now! It even has a great non-offensive smell too!

READ the label.
By Robert on March 10, 2013ok folks, if you're going to buy a product and not take a little effort, don't buy it. This product is not rated for spiders. This product will not kill spiders. no where on the label does it say it will kill spiders. NO RESIDUAL SPRAY KILLS SPIDERS AS THEY DON'T GROOM THEMSELVES. Buying a product that doesnt kill spiders, then calling the product useless because it doesnt kill spiders, makes no sense at all. ALSO... if you buy a product that says 3/1 4/1 and you use it 10/1.. you have no right to complain that it doesn't work. Roaches are one of the hardest things to get rid of because they are a filth pest, and once they get into the walls and begin to breed, you'll need more than a little spray to get rid of them. Also mixing 10/1 is against the instructions, and is the reason we can't have nice things. read the label before you buy and this is a great product.

Professional advice

Without sounding like a liberal nut job.... organic compounds like Essentria work very well, if you know your infestation and where to apply the treatment. Along with proper sanitation and insect monitor usage. Fact: According to the EPA 5 billion lbs. of pesticides are applied annually to US lawns & homes. Fact: Over 98% of sprayed insecticides reach a destination other than their targeted species. Fact: According to the EPA, 95% of the pesticides routinely used on residential lawns are carcinogens. Fact: A recent study found that 109 out of 110 children had pesticides in their urine. -Safe & Sound Pest Control Elkhart, IN.

not effective for me, saw no improvement at all
By Michael on April 28, 2013
Verified Purchase
I purchased Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate to use as a perimeter treatment for boxelder bugs, Japanese beetles & house flies. I mixed it 6 oz to 1 gal. of water and applied with a pump sprayer. The smell was pleasant, but overwhelming and took several hours to dissipate to the point that we could even be in the house without nausea, and that is the best thing I have to say for the product. Within 2 hours, there were swarms of Japanese beetles & boxelder bugs all over the foundation where I had just sprayed; they were neither dying nor repelled. I reapplies directly to the beetles and they flew around and re-landed on the house, unaffected by the "insecticide". I was hopeful and open to using a "green" alternative to harsh and possibly dangerous chemicals, but when my family is the only thing that it keeps away from the house, I say this product is an epic failure! 1 star is being generous...

Good Idea but doesn't work for mosquitoes
By John on September 3, 2012Just doesn't work at all for mosquitoes. Sprayed many lots with it using a STIHL backpack. Used it at 5oz/gal with an average of 5 gallons per 1/2acre. I guess if it worked as claimed every company would use this as its safer compared to all the other products. Organic formula= Poor results and more $$. You're better off using the strong stuff that will yield results. I also emailed Envincio who makes the product and they did not respond. Don't waste your money.

The Spray that Ended Spiders ..........
By SC on August 12, 2012The other week I decided to get our bikes in working order. Low and behold, a came across a recently hatched sac of human hunting spiders. I then found more, and more, and more. I logged on to DoMyOwnPestControl and within 3 days, was spraying the basement. This stuff worked great. Within a week the majority of our spider friends were no more. I just applied for a second time and will continue to use this product. The only negative is how strong of a smell the spray puts off .... but thats a minor issue considering it smells like mint, citrus and rosemary. Which, in hindsight, is better than no smell and a killer infestation of eight legged human hunters ............. PS This is my first home, and my first adventure in critter hunting. Do My Own Pest Control was a fantastic source for not only the products I needed, but also the guidance. Great website, you've been bookmarked!

Smelly
By Joshua on June 4, 2012As a chemist I like using green products around my family, but after using this product I've heard nothing but complaints from my wife and mother-in-law about the smell. I think the smell is great, and it usually weakens in about a day, but I'm going to have to find a different product for treating the indoors, just to avoid their complaints. This is a great product, but if you live with someone with a sensitive nose don't use this one.

John from Essex, Ma asked:
QIs Essentria IC# effective against ticks
Does it kill and repel ticks?
AEssentria IC3 is labeled for ticks and should do a great job helping to control them on your property. Do not make spot applications. Treat the entire area where exposure to ticks may occur. Use more water (not more product) when treating areas with dense ground cover or heavy leaf litter. Ticks may be reintroduced from surrounding areas on host animals. Retreatment may be necessary to achieve and/or maintain control during periods of high pest pressure. All of your pets should be treated with a product that is specifically labeled for use on dogs for tick control.
You can also help by creating a "tick safe zone" in your yard. You should have an area that is at least 9 ft wide between your yard and any wooded area. Trim back trees to allow as much sunlight as possible into your yard. Keep grass as short as possible. Remove as much leaf litter as possible. A clearly defined, well manicured border between your yard and any wooded areas or weedy lots will reduce the chance of ticks infesting your yard.

Paul from American Fork, Ut asked:
QAre Essentria products safe around pregnancy?
AYes, Essentria products are the safest professional products available. They are made from plant oil extracts and contain no man made chemicals. This being said, as when applying any insecticide, you should follow the label, only treat in approved areas, and have others leave the treatment area while you are treating. After the spray dries, which usually only takes about 30 minutes, it is perfectly safe to have children, pets, and pregnant woman back in the area.

Barry from Arlington, Va asked:
QAre you supposed to dilute this product?
I am interested in spraying outdoors to control mosquitoes.
AYes, Essentria IC3 is supposed to be diluted with water. According to the Essentria IC3 product label:" To control adult mosquitoes and other biting flies using ground application, dilute 1 to 3 fluid ounces of Essentria IC3 per gallon of water. Treat harborage areas such as shrubbery and vegetation where mosquitoes/flies may rest. Shrubbery and vegetation
around stagnant pools, marshy areas, ponds and shorelines may be treated. Repeat as necessary." Please read the product label for complete usage instructions.

Mhel from Ny asked:
QIs Essentria IC3 effective against German roaches?
AEssentria IC3 Insecticide is labeled for roaches and should do a great job for you as part of your roach control program. We recommend you also include a high quality roach bait gel and an insect growth regulator along with the Essentria IC3 Insecticide to get complete control of German roaches. All three components along with good sanitation will be needed to eliminate German roaches from a structure.

Will from Franklin,tn asked:
QWill Essentria IC3 damage or discolor the baseboards in my home?
AEssentria IC3 has been tested on many surfaces and does not usually discolor stain surfaces. We still recommend that you test the product for discoloration or staining on a small inconspicuous area before spraying all baseboards as of course not all surfaces have been tested.

QCan I use Eco Exempt G Granules near a lake or pond?
Can I use Eco Exempt G Granules near a lake or pond? Will it leech into the lake's environment and kill lake insects?

Mike from Haymarket, Va asked:
QWhat product do you recommend to spray on boat canvas and boat tie down lines to get rid of spiders?
AThe most popular spider control product for use around water is Essentria IC3. This is the most popular choice because it effective for spiders, kills most other insects (eliminating the spiders prey which will help keep new spiders from moving back into the area) and it safe to use around water. Most other insecticides are prohibited near the water because of the risk of contaminating the water and harming aquatic animals. You will need to repeat the application once a month through the warm season.

John from Oklahoma asked:
QEssentria IC3 for marina and boat spider/wasp control
We have a boat that's stored under a cloth cover on the water in an open but covered marina. We have a terrible problem with wasps and spiders infesting the boat and the marina roof above it. I'd like a product that I can apply no more than once per month to the underside of the roof and around the boat and cover that will kill the bugs and prevent them from coming back.
The product would need to be safe for children on the boat and for fish since we'd inevitably get some overspray into the lake while spraying around the boat and marina.
Is Essentria the right product for this, or can you recommend another one?
Also, I've heard that these insecticides are safe around children "after they've dried." If we apply it to the inside of the boat and then let it dry, it will be re-wetted as water splashes back on the boat and wet kids crawl around on it. Will re-wetting the product make it toxic to humans again?
AEssentria IC3 is the right product for you! Essentria IC3 is safe to use around your family and also around aquatic life and it will work great for wasps and spiders. Essentria does not repel insects but rather eliminates them once they land on treated surfaces. Once Essentria IC3 has dried after the application it will not reconstitute so there is no worry that a child may be harmed if touching a surface that has been treated, dried and now has been gotten water on it.

Rob from Traverse City, Mi asked:
QLongevity/residual
For an exterior structural application for spider's, paper wasps, etc., what's the residual longevity of the product?
AThis product can be expected to last about 6 weeks around a structure. Longevity depends on exposure to sunlight mainly. Areas not in direct view of the sun can last longer. Areas exposed to sunlight for much of the day can be much less. UV light is the most degrading factor to residual longevity.

John from Essex, Ma asked:
QDoes IC3 kill honey bees?
I have bee hives on my property. Will this product kill the bees?
Thanks,
John
AEssentria IC3, like most insecticides, even natural ones, will kill bees if they land on a treated surface. You should not apply this product or any other type of product intended to kill insects on any flowering plants that the bees may land on.
March 21, 2012 Robert asked:
QWhat is the typical residual for Essentria IC3 when spraying for mosquitoes?
what is the typical residual for this when spraying for mosquitoes, and does the company guarantee the product will not kill fish?
AEssentria IC should be reapplied every 2-4 weeks for mosquito control outdoors. Envincio, the Essentria IC3 manufacturer, does say that Essentria IC3 is non-toxic for aquatic life including fish when used as directed on the product label.
