Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1%

Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust with 1% Pyrethrin is a botanical insecticide dust that treats a broad range of insects (over 230 pests) including bed bugs, ants, roaches, crickets, fleas, centipedes and more. The pyrethrin gives the dust a fast kill and makes this all natural and safe for use around people and pets (always follow directions for safe use). Evergreen Pyrthrum Dust is OMRI Certified. Can be used in food handling and feed areas.

May be used on Livestock Animals and Livestock Premises.

INDOOR TREATMENTS

Only Apply as a Spot Treatment to Areas No Greater Then 2 Feet by 2 Feet Per Room.

Crawling Insects:

Apply Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust, at the rate of 1.5 ounce per 50 square feet of surface area, into voids, cracks and crevices or other places where insects are traveling or harboring. Apply a continuous visible film underneath and behind stairs, behind and beneath sinks, stoves, refrigerators and other appliances, around garbage cans, cabinets. Treat on around and behind moldings, shelving, baseboards, doorsills, doorframes, floors, around drains, pipes and pipe openings, plumbing, bookcases, storage, utility installations and other areas where insects hide or travel. For severe infestations apply behind cabinets and walls, in crawlspaces and attics at the rate of 16 - 20 ounces per 1,000 square feet (4 to 5 ounces per 250 square feet).

INDOOR AND OUTDOOR TREATMENTS

For Bees and Wasps (Yellow Jackets, Hornets, and Paper Wasps):

It is advisable to treat bee and wasp (yellow jacket, hornet, and paper wasp) nests in the evening when insects are less active and have returned to the nest. Wear protective clothing if deemed necessary to avoid stings. Use a hand duster with extension tubes if necessary. Thoroughly dust the nest, entrance and surrounding areas. For best results, check nests carefully one or two days after treatment to ensure complete kill. Remove and destroy nest to prevent emergence of newly hatched insects. If removal is not possible, retreat the nest if necessary. For nests in wall voids, drill a hole in the area of the nest, apply dust, and reseal.

For Use on Landscape Plants, Indoors and Outdoors:

Ornamental Trees, Shrubs, Flowers and Foliage Plants

Building Perimeter Treatments:

To aid in preventing entry and infestations of buildings by listed insects, Apply 16 to 24 oz. of Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust per 1,000 square feet (4 to 6 ounces of Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust per 250 square feet) to building exterior as a perimeter treatment in a band extending 12 - 18" along and adjacent to foundation, and to a height of 2 to 3 feet up the side of the building where these pests are active and may find entrance.

To Kill Insects Harboring in Lawns, Landscaping, and Backyards:

To aid in the control of listed insects, apply Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust at the rate of 8 to 24 ounces per 1,000 square feet (2 to 6 ounces of Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust per 250 square feet). For best results, lawn should be mowed one to two (1 - 2) days before applying, and clippings removed. Be sure to cover the entire lawn surface where insects are present, or normally frequent. Apply under ornamental plants, shrubs and trees. Do not water or irrigate immediately following application. Keep pets and children out of the treated area until after the dust has settled.

Tips for using Evergreen Dust effectively

  1. Apply the product only as specified on the label.
  2. Do NOT apply the product where it will directly contact people and pets (for example, do not apply the dust on your pet). Keep dust treatments to cracks and crevices where insects live and hide.
  3. For Bed Bugs: use Evergreen Pyrethrum dust in conjunction with other bed bug control products including Bedlam Aerosol, Cyonara 9.7 or Onslaught, and other bed bug insecticides.
  4. Clean-Up: Vacuum up remaining dust and dead insects after treatment.

I had a yellowjacket nest in my walls and all the wasp spray in the world wouldn't suppress the growing problem and activity. One application of this stuff about 10pm after all were back in the hive took care of it. Not a peep since.

I live in Florida and as you know we have lots of problems with Roaches and Palmetto bugs. Since I saw Billy the Exterminator using Pyrethrum I decided to try it. I was thrilled that my cats were not in danger and the product has worked wonders. I have not seen any bugs at all. I tried it for sugar ants and that worked also. This stuff is great and I would reccomend it to everyone. Sincerely, Karen M Burrows

Sprayed the yellow jacket nest 3 times and it did nothing. Not sure what else I could have done. I had 3 ground nests and I sprayed all three, three nights in a row. The bees kept flying in and out. It did not seem to do anything.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
Thank you for your comments! If you are able to contact the nest directly, then the Evergreen Dust should do a good job of controlling the insects; it just sounds like you need to give the product more time. Dust has a much slower kill on target insects than formulations like sprays, so we encourage you to be more patient so that it has time to work. For quick knockdown of flying stinging insects, we suggest Wasp Freeze Aerosol: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/pt-wasp-freeze-ii-aerosol-175-oz-p-60.html Please let us know if we can further assist you. We appreciate your business and your feedback!

  • 5 of 5 stars  Excellent
By Scott in Buffalo, NY on 09/20/2016

I had a problem with some yellow jackets. Some built a nest in the ground and another nest at the base of the house. One use and the next morning they were all dead. I purchased the bulb duster with it. New York state is very particular about what you can and can not use. I called the company, they looked up the regulations and recommended this as it met NY state requirements. Highly recommend. Will use again.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Does the job
By K in Connecticut on 06/15/2016

Had a problem with carpenter bees. I bought a traditional spray from the hardware store and it killed the bees but the holes were quickly re-infested by new bees. I also hated using the chemical and wanted something more natural. I used the duster to spray this dust into the holes and the bees inside were dead but the best part was the dust stayed behind. A week or so after the first spray I noticed another bee on the ground, dead. It had tried to take over the empty hole and it touched the powder and whammo- bye-bye bee. Now that I know the holes are treated with a dust that has staying power I can finally close them up with wood and paint over them.

5 of 5 stars  One Shot Wonder
By Ophiodon in Anacortes, WA on 09/15/2015

More effective, less cost, less environmental impact: I had yellow jackets in my siding. I tried vacuuming them all day long for days and sucked up hundreds of them but if I stopped for a day the hive would regenerate. I vacuumed one more day, from sunup to sunset. Under the cover of darkness, I applied Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust once, four big puffs. Some yellow jackets emerged into the beam of my flashlight with a fine coat of dust. They fell to the ground, writhed for a few seconds and keeled over. There was no more activity for over a week so I sealed the hole with caulking; mission accomplished.

I applied this product 3 times over a months time and still have yellow jackets flying in and out the same mortar joint into my house. Not sure if this dust looses potency over time but it has made no change. Even purchased the fancy duster to apply, hard to see how it got such good reviews.

By Kirk in Fort Wayne, IN on 08/11/2015

This product came up under the search for killing bees and such... the produce was a complete fail. The bees would fly back out coated white and return the same. I tried it after dark for several days to finally give up. Bought another product locally and after one application (same way as other) they are gone.

5 of 5 stars  Why use dust?
By Craig in sac,ca on 10/20/2014

Pretty simple it works and last a long time. I sprayed the same chemical and it lasts about 2 months at best. I dusted and it just keeps the spiders away for a whole season. I have a small outdoor area that is covered and seems to be the perfect habitat for spiders. A little dust goes a long way.

Purchased the dust to work on an ant problem in my house. This stuff is very effective on ants and any other bug. I inititally was using much more dust than needed. Have experimented a bit and found a very light dusting is all it takes. Kills almost immediately and they do not come back.

QOnce Evergreen dust is applied inside walls, crevices, electrical boxes, how long does its potency last?
We are trying to create barriers against bed bugs between apartments in multi-unit buildings and don't want to reapply constantly. Diatomaceous earth works forever as long as it doesn't get wet but doesn't have the instant kill that this dust has.

AEvergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% can last for up to 4-6 months depending on where it was applied. You should also note that Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% dust does not have an immediate kill (all dusts take time to kill insects), and it can take about 3 days for insects to die after they have come into contact with treated areas. And while it is true that Diatomaceous earth can last indefinitely it will still need to be reapplied as it becomes covered with other dust or debris.

QDoes Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust contain boric acid powder?

ANo, Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust does not contain boric acid, but rather it uses pyrethrin which is a plant extract to kill the insect.

QDoes Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust have a long lasting effect against all insects and does it work as a residual treatment? Could it work underneath steam hot water pipes which is the main area where the bugs in my home reside such as pillbugs, silverfish, centipede, etc?

AEvergreen Pyrethrum Dust will last up to 8 months and provide long lasting residual protection on just about any insect that walks over it.  The main concern is that if you apply it where there is moisture than it can lose some of its potency and turn clumpy.  It is not water resistant.  It can be applied underneath water pipes (unless they are leaking or dripping) and just about any other avenue that insects use to gain entry. Delta Dust may be more suited to your needs. Delta Dust is water proof and provide the same results as Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust.

QHow does Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust kill bed bugs?
I recently purchased Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust and applied it to my daughters room around the baseboards and inside the drawers and around the wooden platform of her bed. I did this about 2 weeks after the PCOs came and treated all of the bedrooms in my house as an extra precaution. Since the PCOs had treated my house after their first visit, she has not gotten any bites. However, when my daughter slept in her room the night after I applied the dust, she was terribly bitten all over her arms and shoulders. I called the PCOs again and they came back and retreated all the bedrooms. This is in addition to the relentless cleaning I have been doing. My question is then, how does the dust work? Does it aggravate the bed bugs to come out of their hiding place? How long does it take for it to kill the bed bugs?

A

It sounds like the treatment that the PCO's applied had worn off after two weeks (bedbug treatments are supposed to be repeated about every 7-10 days to stop this from being a problem). Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust has the active ingredient of Pyrethrins and can take up to 1 week to kill a bedbug which is why you must use it conjunction with other products. It does seem to be coincidental that your daughter received bites the night after you applied the dust. Had she been sleeping some where else besides her room before that night? If so, the bedbugs may have simply been hiding in the wall and when she resumed sleeping in her room they were able to detect her and came out to feed. We have never had complaints of the dust causing the bedbugs to bite. If the dust has not been vacuumed up or otherwise removed, there is no reason to reapply as the dust will last for several months.

QWhat are the side effects for humans if the product is inhaled or comes in contact with the skin?

AEvergreen Pyrethrum Dust is an all natural product and the ingredient from it comes from the crysanthymum plant. You would want to use the same precautions with an all natura product as you would any other insecticide or even house cleaning product. Take care to follow the instructions on the label and only use in areas it designates is safe for use. If it touches your skin, wash your skin with soap and hot water to remove it. Any side effect to a human would vary on the human and their sensitivity to the product.

QWill Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust kill clothes moths adults, larvae and eggs?
My closets and area rugs are infested with cloth moths. I've vacuum the rugs, wash and freeze some of my woolens. I still see some adult moths flying around. Help!

A

Yes, Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust is labeled for clothes moths. You will put this product down in the areas where you have seen activity. QCan we burn Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% like Buhach?
Before Buhach went out of business, we used to burn it to keep flying insects out of the house, just a little went a long way and could last for an hour. Can we do that with Evergreen Pyrethum dust?

A

No, Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% should not be burned. This is an insecticide dust that is a ready-to-use insecticide to be applied directly to cracks and crevices with a duster such as a bellow hand duster. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions. QWill Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% kill and control Rover Ants?
I have Rover Ants that I haven't figured out where they are coming in from. I wanted to use Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% inside our walls.(Since i can't find where they are coming, in perhaps through weep holes into the walls?) Will it kill Rover Ants?

A

Evergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% is labeled to kill ants so it would be a great idea to dust it inside the wall voids but it will only work if the ants come in contact with the product, so make sure that they are going into or coming out from the wall voids. You could also spray around the perimeter of your home to have them pick up the product from where ever they're coming in from.

We'd highly recommend checking out our Ant Control Page to learn how to do your own Inspection and how to treat for ants.

QDo I need a bulb dispenser?
I have bees under the siding of me house. Do I need a bulb dispenser to apply this product or can I just use the canister it comes in.

AEvergreen Pyrethrum Dust 1% or any other dust cannot be puffed into electronics. We recommend placong the electronics in a plastic bin and then putting a Nuvan Pro Strip inside. Leave the bin sealed up for 1-2 weeks to allow the odorless vapors to kill the insects.
