Rodent Baiting Kit

The Rodent Baiting Kit contains the professional rodenticide and tamper-resistant stations you need to protect your home or business safely from rats and mice. Our Exclusive EZ Klean Rodent Bait Station Bonus Pack includes 6 x EZ Klean Rodent Bait Stations (large enough for both mice and rats to access bait inside), vertical and horizontal rods for each station, and 1 universal key to access the stations. The Rodent Baiting Kit also includes a 4 pound pail of Gladiator rodenticide to combat rodent infestations. Gladiator bait blocks contain the fast-acting ingredient Bromethalin, killing rodents in just one feeding. Gladiator bait is also moisture and weather-resistant, so that it doesn’t spoil quickly, plus it contains Bitrex, a bittering agent to deter non-target animals from consuming it.

This kit is intended for Rat Treatment outdoors within 50 feet of buildings. If you are finding rats indoors, we strongly recommend using rat traps or rat glue boards so that the rodents may be removed as quickly as possible.

Gladiator bait is appropriate for treating house mice, roof rats, and Norway rats only. The Rodent Baiting Kit includes larger stations because they follow newer regulations for Tamper Resistance, while none of the smaller, mouse bait stations meet the requirements for outdoor baiting.

Before baiting, it is important to perform a thorough Inspection of the property before using baits so that you can properly Identify  what kind of rodents you have, if any, and so that you can prevent further infestation by sealing up access points and keeping rodents out.

The active ingredient in Gladiator is a neurotoxin, so there is no antidote if children or non-target animals such as domestic cats or dogs consume the bait. If you are baiting in an area where there are children or pets, we recommend using a bait such as Contrac Blox (only available to licensed PCO applicators in California) ; the antidote for Contrac is Vitamin K1, which is readily available from a veterinarian or doctor.

For indoor infestations, we strongly recommend using live traps, glue boards, or snap traps appropriate for mice or rats.

Before considering baiting, it is important to thoroughly Inspect both inside and outside for signs of rats and mice, including droppings, gnaw marks, burrows, runways, and travel or grease marks. See our Mouse Identification and Rat Identification Guides for more assistance determining which pest you may need to handle. Keep in mind that rats and mice can be active year-round.

How to Use the Rodent Baiting Kit

Rats and mice need food, water, harborage, and nesting materials to survive. Reducing or minimizing these favorable conditions is the only way to control rodent infestations completely.

*Look for food sources that rodents can access easily, such as food in cardboard boxes or plastic packaging and pet food in bags. Seal food in heavy plastic or metal containers with a secure lid.

*Feed pets at set meal times rather than leaving food out constantly.

*Inspect for and fix any water leaks inside. Minimize watering adjacent to the structure and repair leaky hoses.

*Remove clutter such as cardboard boxes and paper that rats like to use for nesting materials.

*Remove grass clippings and yard debris near the structure.

*Store firewood away from the structure.

*Trim shrubs and bushes near the home so that you can see around and underneath them to reduce harborage and to eliminate travel pathways to the home.

*Inspect and seal points of access into the structure. Pay close attention to entranceways, utility connections, gutters, and garage doors. Shop our Exclusion Products here.

STEP 2 - BAIT AND BAIT STATIONS - Gladiator Blocks and EZ Klean Bait Stations

For most situations, baiting is recommended for use outdoors only. Baiting indoors will most likely result in rodents dying in areas where they cannot be removed, causing secondary problems such as insect infestations, objectionable odors, and spread of disease. EZ Klean stations can accommodate rats or mice while keeping bait secure from non-target animals and people and safe from rain and other weathering. Stations also provide a dark and discreet place where rodents like to hide.

Gladiator contains Bitrex, a bittering agent, to deter non-target animals from consuming the bait. The addition of a stop-feed additive in Gladiator preserves bait quantities.

*Wear gloves or use dedicated handling tools when handling baits to avoid contamination.

*Rodent baits MUST be used in secure bait stations. Placing baits out without tamper-resistant stations not only is potentially dangerous to humans and non-target animals, but it also will cause bait to spoil quickly and be far less attractive to rodents.

*Use an included key to open the EZ Klean Stations. Simply slide the key vertically down into the opening in the center on the curved top edge of the station, the turn gently to the right to unlock the station. (Follow the arrows next to the keyhole.) After turning, lift the key and the lid will open.

*For most applications, the shorter vertical rods are appropriate. The rods will fit snugly into the two notches in the bottom of the station.

*Horizontal rods are longer and will rest in the notches on the walls inside the station. Horizontal rods keep the bait higher off the ground, helpful in areas where flooding is a concern.

*To open Gladiator blocks, snap off the plastic lid. You may need the help of a flathead screwdriver to lift the lid safely.

*Do NOT handle baits with bare hands; wear gloves or use dedicated tools for safe handling.

*Gladiator baits have a hole down the center so that they may be secured on either vertical or horizontal rods. Baits are NOT secure if applied without using the included rods.

*After filling stations, close the lid until you feel and hear the locking mechanism pop into place. Test each station to be sure the lid is secure; locked stations will not open without an EZ Klean key.

*Stations should be placed adjacent to the structure so that the long, straight edge of the station is parallel with exterior walls. The round openings for the stations should be placed so that rodents following their natural path will enter the station from either side.

*Place stations near each corner of the structure and near entrances such as a front door, rear door, or garage door.

*For larger structures with multiple entrances, more stations can be used.

*Stations may be placed along fences, retaining walls, or similar pathways within 50 feet of a structure.

*For extra security, use garden stakes or screws to punch through pre-set holes in the bottom of each station. EZ Klean Stations fit on a standard 8” x 16” x 2” patio block; attach stations with epoxy or screws.

*Use the included service labels on the exterior of stations to keep track of bait placements and activity.

*If rodent activity has already been observed before baiting, check placements after a few days so that fresh bait is continuously available.

*Check stations every 1-2 weeks for activity, replenishing bait as needed. Placements may be adjusted if there is more activity in some areas than others.

*Replenish bait as long as it is being consumed. Do not underestimate the potential rodent population!

*Use a paint brush to sweep out lawn debris, droppings, or fur from the inside of bait stations.

*In many situations, you will not observe many, if any, dead rodents. Gladiator usually will kill rodents in 1-4 days, although rodents may return to their burrows once they feel the effects of bait.

*Replace old bait every 30 to 60 days. Bait and/or dead rodents should be placed in sealed garbage bags in secure waste receptacles.

*Always store bait in its original container securely out of reach of pets, children, and non-target animals. If larger animals may have access to the storage area, consider placing the plastic pail inside a larger metal container with a lid for extra security.

*Bait is best used within 1 year of opening and within 2 years of purchase. Store out of direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to prevent spoiling.

1 of 5 stars  not impressed with bait
By Daniel in NEW iberia, la on 02/03/2015
    Verified Purchase

I put out the boxes with the bait about 2 weeks ago and do not see any feeding activity in the stations. I see a lot of rat trails but no dead rats. I am not satisfied with this bait and may have to go back to warfarin type bait

    Expert Response   Expert response:
There are several reasons why you may not see feeding activity on the Fastrac Blox. Firstly, rats are neophobic, meaning they are not trusting of new items in their environment, so it will take some time for them to get used to new stations being placed in their environment. You should be sure to eliminate any competing food sources in the environment so that the bait is the only attractive food source. Be sure to use gloves or a tool such as tongs to handle the bait. Fastrac is also a single feed bait, which means rodents only have to feed on it once to consume a lethal dose of active ingredient. Because of this, it is sometimes difficult to tell when rodents have already fed on bait placements. Keep in mind that warfarin or other first-generation anti-coagulants are multi-feed baits, meaning the rodents need to feed on the baits many times to consume a lethal dose. This can sometimes lead to resistance when baiting populations over long periods of time. We are also happy to discuss your situation over the phone at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST.

4 of 5 stars  Rodent station case, six stations
By Jim in NJ on 04/27/2013

Good deal, the stations work well. The case should include several keys, not just one, since I am using the boxes in several locations with different people maintaining them.

5 of 5 stars  Did the Job
By Hs in Houston, Tx on 12/30/2014

A couple of acres had been cleared almost a year ago to build a house and the field mice resettled into my home. At first we tried catch and release elsewhere. Although, we got rid of a mice here and there, we were fighting a losing battle. In frustration and looking for any solution, I was told about the EZ Clean Rodent Station. Within the week, it appears that the mice have been wiped out.

5 of 5 stars  Exactly what I needed!
By Scott in Saint Louis, Missouri on 09/26/2012

Exactly what I needed to control the rodents around my home. Fast shipping, good price, and the kit included everything you need. Note on the boxes, they come with a log sticker (nice bonus) along with metal bars to put bait horizontally, or you can leave them out and use the plastic vertical pegs.

    2 of 5 stars  I don't know
By Wolfgang in Chesapeake on 07/09/2016
    Verified Purchase

currently I'm disappointed from that product. I ordered it after others were enthusiastic from the success. On another website I read that rats are very carefully and they doesn't accept new things so fast. We positioned 4 of the traps and waited for some days. The rats ignored it for the first couple days, but now they come back every night with a good appetite. I don't want to feed them, I want to kill them. Conclusion: It doesn't work so far.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
Please note that as long as the rats are feeding they dying. In most scenarios, consumers just do not realize how much bait it takes to make a lethal dose or they do not realize how many rats they actually have. Please give the product a little more time and we think you will be very happy with the end results. We are also available to help you troubleshoot if needed or 866-581-7378.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Great Deal
By Eugene in Moultrie, Georgia on 10/05/2015

The bait kit is easy to set up. I like the idea of having a choice of how to place the bait in the station depending on how wet an area is. I had signs of feeding right after I put out the bait stations. I have not seen any dead mice but that is okay because they are dead somewhere. I like the lock and key It makes the kit very safe.

  • 5 of 5 stars  Just as expected
By Bc in Woodburn Oregon on 07/26/2016

It was all just as I expected and priced fairly. They are out there and doing their job. I have a friend who pays to have this done, they only show up (if they remember to show up) once a quarter and charger her twice what I paid to buy these bait stations and bait. Can't be sure yet but I don't think we have any more rodents.

QWhat happenes if a non-target species consumes a rodent poisoned with Bromethalin?

ARats that have eaten the bait and then die should be removed and disposed of if they are found. Animals that eat exposed carcasses will usually have to eat many carcasses before they receive enough bait to have a reaction, but a secondary poisoning is possible. Bromethalin is a neurotoxin and there is no antidote if a nontarget animal consumes the bait.  If you have children or pets, it is recommended that you use a bait containing Bromadiolone, such as Contrac Blox, since every doctor and vet has the antidote, which is Vitamin K1.

QHow do I get rid of rats at a house where we spend about 6 days a month?
My mom lives with us, but we go to her house one or two weekends a month. The neighborhood has rats, but we hadn't had a problem for almost a year.

We would recommend using our Rodent Baiting Kit. It comes with the bait and bait stations to put around the home. Be sure to check the bait every couple of weeks to see whether or not it should be replaced.

We would also recommend taking a look at our Rat Guide. It has useful tips on how to treat and prevent rats.

QWhere do the rats usually go to die when using the Rodent Baiting Kit?

When using the Rodent Baiting Kit  the rodent will ingest the bait and within a couple days die. We recommend baiting outdoors to promote death outdoors. After bait ingestion, rodents can die anywhere.

QWill the Rodent Baiting Kit prevent rodents from living in the alley next to my home?
There is an alley adjacent to my house that has become victim of illegal bumping which has since become a nesting ground for rodents. I want to clean the alley but would first like to kill or divert the rodents living there without having them come in to my home. What products do you recommend?

For mice/rats, there are various methods that can be used to keep them out of your home and excluding them from the area. The first option, so that they do not come indoors, would be to use copper mesh in any holes where they could possibly get in to.

We do also have our Rodent Baiting Kit. It comes with bait that the rodents consume and bait stations. These can be placed outside in the alley. They should be refilled as needed.

Please also check out our Rodent Guide as well. It has various tips on how to get rid of rodents and keeping them out of the area.
