We have used the carbaryl and do not know at this time how much it has helped. We had an over bundance of earth worms so it is hard to tell if it has done any good at this time,

QIs Fertilome Liquid Carbaryl Garden Spray safe for pets?
If watered would it get in the grass root system making the grass inedible to pet?

AYour pets need to be out of the area while you are applying the product and they can return as soon as the area is dry. Fertilome Liquid Carbaryl (Sevin) Garden Spray is formulated specifically for use on edible vegetation and should pose no problem for any mammal eating the treated plants.

QHow long after spraying Fertilome Liquid Carbaryl can you eat peas, lettuce, green onions?

AThere is a PHI or pre-harvest interval of 14 days for lettuce. Fertilome Liquid Carbaryl is not labeled for use on peas or green onions and should not be used for those vegetables. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff for more advice on what you can use on these edible plants.

QDoes Fertilome Liquid Carbaryl (Sevin) Garden Spray kill locust borers?
How often should I spray if I have a locust borer infestation? Is there another product that would work better to kill locust borers or a systemic product that I don't have to spray?

A

Fertilome Liquid Carbaryl (Sevin) Garden Spray is not labeled to control locust borers, however GardenTech Sevin Ready to Spray Bug Killer is labeled to treat locust borers. Sevin/carbaryl will only kill insects on contact, and treatments must be at least 7 days apart, with a maximum of four treatment annually for trees and six times annually for ornamental shrubs and flowers.

Systemic insecticides that are labeled for other roundheaded borers should be effective when applied early enough in the season. Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is labeled for roundheaded borers. Zylam Liquid Systemic Insecticide would be an excellent choice if you have a persistant problem or a population that may be resistant to imidacloprid.

QWhat do you use to control tomato leaf curl?

AWe apologize, we are having a hard time finding products for Tomato leaf curl. We have products that treat many diseases on tomato plants, just not tomato leaf curl. You can find these products on our Fungus and disease control page.  We recommend to contact your Cooperative Extension office and speak with the Master Gardner.
