    How long after application do I need to wait before vacuuming?
    A
    You can vacuum 24 hours after the Flea Stoppers has been in place. According to the manufacturer, Flea Stoppers will keep working even if you vacuum or have your carpets cleaned because the tiny little granules will get to the very bottom of the nap. It will contact the flea larva and pupa even after the visible product has been removed.

    Flea Stoppers is completely harmless to pets when used as directed on the product label. Pets can return to the treated area as soon as the application has been completed.

    I see that your Flea Stoppers uses boric acid. Why would I not just buy Borax and use that?
    A
    Flea Stoppers is a granulated product that will settle to the bottom of carpet and it is highly purified. There are many products that contain the active ingredient Boric Acid but the formulations vary greatly. Regular Borax is more of a powdery formulation which could cause risk of inhalation for pets and people when it is disturbed. Also using Borax as a flea control product is considered an off label usage and not permitted by law.

    Flea Stoppers contains a highly purified orthoboric acid in a granulated form. Flea Stoppers has a sandy consistency so that it can get to the bottom fibers in your carpet and rugs where fleas and flea eggs are developing.

    Can you use Flea Stoppers with Precor 2000 Plus?
    I bought Flea Stoppers, I noticed this is in a kit. I already have the Precor 2000 Plus and just want to know if it will work with it.

    When is it safe for my baby crawl on the carpet after applying Flea Stoppers?
    In previous questions, you stated that it is safe for babies to crawl in the carpet once the application has been completed. But it says to wait to vacuum for 5-7 days. Is it safe for them to crawl on the carpet before vacuuming while waiting out the 5-7 days?

    It is safe for babies to crawl across a treated surface after the product has been brushed into the carpet and allowed to settle.  An hour should be plenty of time.  Flea Stoppers is a boric acid based product which has the toxicity of table salt.

    Why does the Flea Stoppers label ask you to "avoid breathing dust"?
    Due to the precautionary statement I'm very concerned about putting this on my carpet, though my pest control guy advised me to use it. I have three small children and three dogs in the home. I know it's supposed to be granulated, however there does sound like a conflict.

    That is a precautionary statement on all "dust" products that the manufacturers list for safety. Flea Stoppers is safe if applied as directed on the product label. It is a granulated formulation and not a dust formulation and this product is safe to use around asthmatics, crawling babies and pets (including birds, fish, ferrets, rabbits and other small animals) as it does not pose the same inhalation risks as other products.  Children should not be in the area that was treated with Flea Stoppers until the entire application is complete.  Rake or brush it to the nape of the carpet to get it down to where it needs to be.

    So if I just the flea stopper on my house do I need to buy something else to kill the fleas on my cat??
    I brush them daily at this point with a comb, but no additional chemicals.

    Why do fleas still exist after applying Flea Stoppers?
    Last Friday I thoroughly vacuumed my carpet multiple times before I applied the flea stopper. I applied the product last Friday and limited contact with the room, and actually no one has been in room for over 3 days. I checked to see if the flea problem was gone today and it seems to have gotten worse. More fleas jump on my bare feet than before. I even applied double amount than should have. What is going on? Does this product not work?

    Fleas are a prolific and tricky pest to treat, so successful treatments may take anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending on many factors. While Flea Stoppers will kill fleas, the mode of action is slow, so using only this product will take much longer than using it in conjunction with knockdown sprays and Insect Growth Regulators, such as those found in our Indoor Flea and Tick Kit. Flea Stoppers also should be brushed into carpets and rugs with a broom or stiff bristle brush. Skipping this step will greatly decrease the efficacy of Flea Stopper. If a room with fleas is left empty for several days, and then there is suddenly activity, this activity will stir dormant fleas, often creating the illusion that there are more fleas than previously thought.     I have had flea stoppers recommended but the whole house has hardwood floors. No carpet.

    No. Fleastoppers works really well on carpet but will make your hardwood floors very slippery. Instead you should use a product such as Alpine Flea Insecticde Spray with IGR. You should focus on cracks and crevices only as just vacuuming will remove fleas, eggs, and pupa from the surface of the floors. We have never had a report that this product stained or otherwise marked hardwood floors but because there are so many type of finishes we do recommend you test it for staining on a small inconspicuous area before doing the entire application.

    How effective is Flea Stoppers compared to other powders?

    Flea Stoppers contains orthoboric acid is only a portion of an indoor flea treatment. It may contain a different active ingredient than other powders or dusts labeld for flea treatments. It works great if used in conjunction to an aerosol that contains an adulticide and insect growth regulator.     Is Flea Stoppers the same as FleaGo?

    Flea Stoppers does contain orthobic acid is made by a different manufacturer than FleaGo. They are both labeled for flea treatments inside on carpeted areas. Please contact the manufacturer of FleaGo for additional information as it is a product we do not carry.

    Can I dust Flea Stoppers on my bare floors?
    I do not have any carpeting.

    Flea Stoppers is a carpet powder only and would not be recommended to apply across hard surfaces. For homes without carpet you would be better off using an aerosol such as Nyguard Plus in the cracks and crevices around the rooms. Cimexa Insecticide Dust could be also be used there if you would prefer a dust. We actually include both of these products in our Indoor Flea Kit that is most recommended to treat indoors.

    How do I use Flea Stoppers for fleas in my carpet? The fleas are still here after I followed the directions.

Did you get  just the FleaStoppers?  Did you vacuum thoroughly before and after applying the product?  Did you sweep in the FleaStoppers thoroughly into your carpet?  There are a number of reasons why you still may be having issues.  Please call us and we can try to help you figure out what to do next.

    Do we have to reapply Flea Stoppers every 14 days too or just the sprays?

    Flea Stoppers should be applied to carpet and does not need to be reapplied every 14 days. The spray applications should be reapplied once every 14 days. Two minimum interior applications of an aerosol containing a growth regulator such as NyGuard Plus or PT Alpine Flea & Bedbug Aerosol, etc.  You will want to vacuum daily and discard of the bag (or empty cannister in trash bag away from the structure).

    You keep saying after application is completed but I completed applying to my carpet. But i havent vacuumed it up yet.

    After application of Flea Stoppers, you should brush it into the carpet with a stiff broom to move the product down to the nap of the carpet.  Once in the nap, it will be undisturbed by regular vacuuming.  You should wait 24 hours before vacuuming.  Once you have brushed it into the carpet with the broom, the cat can return to the treated room(s).

    Once Flea Stoppers is vacuumed up, is it safe to for people to lay on carpet?
    We lay on carpet for various stretching exercises. Is that safe to resume once product has been vacuumed up? Q2: Also, if there are stray fleas, is it possible for them to hitch a ride on daughter's belongings and infest her dorm room at college if no pets there? Thanks!

    Yes, it is safe to lay on carpets after Flea stoppers have been vacuumed up. It is very unlikely for the fleas to hitch hike to your daughters dorm, as they would need a food source. Make sure to thoroughly clean and wash all items possible before departure.

    Can Flea Stoppers be used in a vacuum?
    I have hardwood floors and can not just put a powder on the floor....my cat and daughter would get to it...or at least the cat would.

    What exactly do you mean can it be used in a vacuum?  Flea Stoppers is meant to be used on carpet only and will not be effective on hardwoods.  I would recommend one of our aerosol products for fleas on the hardwoods such as Ultracide.  It can be applied on hardwoods and on carpets, and it is very safe to use around pets.  It is very important to vacuum first and then apply the product while the pets are in another room or outside.  Once the product is dry, which usually only takes about 20 minutes, it is safe to allow the pets back into the room.
