FUSE Termiticide Insecticide
  • Alternate Image 1

FUSE Termiticide/Insecticide contains both imidacloprid and fipronil as its active ingredients. Both ingredients work by affecting the insects' nervous systems, creating a highly effective method of pest control. It is labeled for termite and perimeter pest control applications. In addition to termites, Fuse will control many other insect pests including ants, earwigs, millipedes, boxelder bugs, silverfish, and pillbugs. Please consult the label for a complete list. Fuse is non-repellant, which means that the insects cannot detect it and will readily come into contact with it. In doing so, they will receive a lethal dose of the insecticide. With insects such as termites and ants, they will also carry this lethal dose back to the colony and spread it among the other insects as well.

* Fuse is not labeled to be used directly on pets

Fuse is now available in a 7.5 oz bottle. This is a convenient size for backpack, handheld sprayer and large tank applications. One bottle will make up to 25 gallons and is great for exterior perimeter pest programs.

FUSE contains imidacloprid and fipronil. Both act in the insects’ nervous systems, but in different locations. Imidacloprid targets post-synaptic nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in insects, causing over-stimulation of the insects’ nervous systems. Fipronil acts as a post-synaptic gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) inhibitor, also resulting in over-stimulation of the insects’ nervous systems.

For subterranean termite control, specific treatment recommendations may differ due to regulations, treatment procedures, soil types, construction practices and other factors. The purpose of chemical soil treatment for termite control is to establish a continuous treated zone (horizontal and/or vertical) between the wood and other cellulose material in the structure and the termite colonies in the soil. The establishment of an aerial or above ground colony may require additional treatments to control the termites, as well as landscape modifications, and/or structural repairs to deny termites of a moisture source. Use a 0.067% to 0.13% dilution based on current recommendations. For a typical control situation, a 0.067% dilution is used. A 0.13% dilution may be used when a severe or persistent infestation exists.

QLSU Research shows FIPRONIL AND IMIDACLOPRID does not work.
The research results provided a threshold concentration of imidacloprid that significantly reduces the toxicity of fipronil. Even 2.3 ppm (15 ppm in the solution) imidacloprid reduced the efficacy of fipronil. The termite survival numbers in the treatment of 100 ppm fipronil plus 15 ppm imidacloprid were significantly higher than in the treatment with lower imidacloprid concentrations (100 ppm fipronil plus 5 ppm imidacloprid and fipronil alone) at 48 hours. Both fipronil (under registered name Termidor«) and imidacloprid (under registered name Premise«) are widely used in the termite control market. The results indicate that the efficacy of Termidor« may be affected by the presence of Premise« in the field. http://etd.lsu.edu/docs/available/etd-07072010-144721/unrestricted/LUO_thesis.pdf

QCan Fuse be mixed with Bifen?

AFUSE is a combination of 2 different non-repellent insecticides and it would not be recommended to mix a repellent product like Bifen with it as it would negate that factor and also kill off the termites faster than the FUSE would normally so it won't do as good a job in killing off the entire colony.

QWhich one is better between Fuse Termiticide and Termidor SC?

Fuse Termiticide and Termidor SC are both very good products for termites. They both contain non-repellents so that the pests do not know they are coming in contact with it. Fuse does have two active ingredients, one of them being fipronil, which is in Termidor SC. The other is imidacloprid. Both act in the insects nervous systems, but in different locations. Imidacloprid targets post-synaptic nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in insects, causing over-stimulation of the insects nervous systems. Fipronil acts as a post-synaptic gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) inhibitor, also resulting in over-stimulation of the insects' nervous systems. According to the manufacturer, this product could last up to 8 years in the soil. Termidor SC lasts approximately 10 years in the soil. You will treat the same way with both products as well.

Be sure to check out our Termite Guide for tips on how to treat and prevent termites.

QIs FUSE safe for pets?
Is it safe for pents, inside and outside? I'd want to spray their cat tree and the carpeting.... so they'd be in contact with it daily.

AFUSE is safe when used as directed.  It is not labeled to treat for fleas though and cannot be used inside as a broadcast or on pet items.  We recommend that you use Ultracide for the indoor treatment as it can be used on all carpeted areas, pet bedding and upholstered furniture.  Fuse is not labeled to be used on pets and should not be applied to them.

QIs FUSE a Suspended Concentrate like Termidor SC?
How long will it last in outdoor?

AFUSE is a concentrate that basically combines the active ingredients of Termidor SC and Dominion 2L into 1 product.

QWhy does it take a lot less Fuse per gallon of water than Termidor SC?
I've been doing pest control for almost 10 years and always used Termidor SC. However the cost of FUSE is much cheaper and also takes less per gallon? i know it does contain as much Fipronil but still how well does it work in trench treatments compared to Termidor SC?

AFuse Termiticide Insecticide uses the two most powerful active ingredients for Termites in one product, Fipronil (Termidor SC) and Imidacloprid (Dominion 2L). The combination of Fipronil and Imidacloprid gives this termiticide a powerful punch than if you used them separately and also allows the dilution rate to be mixed at a smaller ratio.

QCan I use Fuse to spray on my yard for Chiggers?
My dogs have a lot of bumps, sores and red spots on their feet and bellie and always scratching. I believe it's chiggers.

AFuse cannot be applied in the yard for chiggers. Onslaught is a great product for chigger control. Treatments for chiggers should begin in April/May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.

QCan you treat yellow jackets, wasps, or hornets on a structure or do you have to treat a certain distance away?

FUSE Termiticide Insecticide should NOT be used on wasps or hornet nests if they are attached to or within a structure. If you are looking to treat outdoors and you know exactly where the nests are, we would recommend Wasp-X Wasp & Hornet Spray. This product is a foam and should be appled in 1 second bursts. It will hit the nest and expand around it. If you are just looking to spray and are not sure where the nests are, we would recommend a general insecticide such as Tempo SC Ultra. You will mix 16 mL per gallon of water. This can be sprayed directly on the structure and around the perimeter of your home. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

QI see fuse is a excellent choice for ants, but can you use if for fire ants?

AFUSE Termiticide is more labeled for wood infesting ants, such as carpenter ants. If you are looking for something for fire ants, we would recommend using Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait. It can be broadcast across your lawn or used as a mound treatment.

QFUSE yields, per foot of depth question
"When used as directed, each 27.5 oz. bottle will treat 240 linear feet."...on your description. how do you get 240? 27.5 makes 100 gals, divided by 4gal= 25x10ft section= PRODUCT YIELDS 250 lin ft, at 1 ft of depth. Does fuse only require 1 foot of depth?? A lot of termiticides explain that the depth needs to be a minimum of 4 ft of depth, or to the footer, whichever comes first.

AWith FUSE Termiticide Insecticide, you are digging a 6 by 6 inch trench around the structure and treating every 10 lineal feet with 4 gallon of solution. This is enough product to soak into the several feet into the ground. If the product is diluted properly, it will treat up to 240 lineal feet.
