The good, the bad, the ugly
By J. in Jackson, MS on 05/13/2011
Spray pattern is great. Cart and tank are well designed. Battery life is good because pump only runs on demand. Battery charger did not work. Replaced locally. Hose is too short and stiff. Also replaced locally. Would like longer spray wand. Could be a 5 star product with a few modifications and good quality control.

Needs some work!
By Jerry in Tiffin, OH on 04/24/2012
I have had three issues with the sprayer. First, the hard plastic hose is far too stiff to make it usable. I had to immediately change it to a rubber hose. Second, the center of gravity is off and the spray tips backwards towards the battery if there is not enough water in the tank to balance the batteries weight. Last, as others have reported, the battery charged indicator does not work. There is no way to know if the battery is charged regardless of how long it is on the charger.

UPDATE - Feedback on common issues
By Justin in Bardstown, KY on 10/04/2012
I wanted to give an update on this sprayer after reading through the reviews and using this personally. First common issue was the stiff hose. This will get flexible the more you use it. There are much cheaper coiled hoses that are thin and not durable. Second was the battery issue. The new version has a red and green indicator light on it so you know when it is charged. Third is the poly fittings. Keep in mind that many people use corrosive chemical in these and metal is not always an option. Lastly on the comments about the price. This is a steal for $229.99. the pump alone is $50, not to mention the $30 battery, 2 big spoked wheels (not cheap plastic) plus the heavy duty frame. I think this is a good product and they have addressed all the issues they had with the first model. Happy Spraying!

9 Gallon Master Gardner cart sprayer- battery powered
By A. in Libertyville, IL on 06/22/2011
It worked very well for the first 1.5 hr, I charged it up for the next day and it does not work now. The battery is not charging up. There is no battery life indicator, so if you run the battery out completely you void the warranty. It would be better if it had a manual pump option, so you could use it longer, and get the job done at one time. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this model with the battery system it presently has.
Happy with purchase

MFG Master Gardner Cart Sprayer 9 Gal.
By S. in Hertford, NC on 05/14/2016
Very versatile rig. Only of it's kind that I'm aware in this class. I purchased last year and have used it multiple times. Having the wand for spot treatments and boom for full yard coverage is a great concept. The coiled hose is too rigid and limiting but I easily replaced it with a quality 12 foot spray hose. I prefer weeding my yard with selective liquid herbicides. There is a better selection of chemicals as apposed to granular "weed and feed" products that do ok feeding but are a joke when it comes to weeding. No regrets to date with my purchase. Time and use will tell of it's quality and that remains to be seen.

The concept is great, but the battery and pump are not of quality. We got one season and it was gently used and stored. Too much to have to replace everything right away. Actually the cord is to short from the moment it was delivered

Easy, great range of sprayer. Easy clean, ready for next job. Love it.

DO NOT BUY!! VERY POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP!!!!!!
By Morgan in Gilbert,AZ on 08/15/2015
I would save your money and not buy this product. I had looked at this sprayer 3-4 years ago but didn't buy it due to price. Now it was cheaper and after reading all the reviews and seeing a lot of positive reviews and satisfied individuals, I decided to buy it. I waited a week for it to arrive and when it did, I was shocked at the craftsmanship. VERY VERY POOR!!! There was a screw sitting at the bottom of the box that was suppose to be holding the battery to the back panel. The screw had stripped out of its plastic threads. The other side of the harness had snapped off the panel as well. The pump was not secured to its rubber clamps and one of the screws that attaches the back panel to the actual tank had come out of the tank causing the tank to crack and creat a hole. So called customer service, they were very very nice and sent me a new one that very day and had me send the old sprayer back free of charge. So I waited yet another week for my NEW sprayer to arrive. Today, 8/14/15, the new sprayer arrived and I was excited because I should have a non-damaged product. I WAS WRONG!!! I opened the box and found the entire back panel hanging off the tank by one screw, the pump AGAIN was just bouncing around not secured to the tank by its rubber camps and AGAIN the same securing nut, mind you in the SAME exact place as the original sprayers, was yet AGAIN completely out of the tank. When I looked in the hole where the nut should be to see if the tank was cracked, IT WAS and there was yet ANOTHER hole in the tank rendering it useless!! I could not believe that I was sent AGAIN another defective, damaged, product. I wish I could post the pictures I took so you could see what I mean. I just could not believe that a new separate sprayer was damaged in the exact same locations!!! So I would not buy this product because they are all damaged!! And as a company selling this sprayer, I would be embarrassed!!! So now I have to wait another 2 days in order to call and get a refund. Wish they were open later in the day and on the weekends.
Oh dear! We are very sorry to hear that you received two sprayers with the same exact issues. We have contacted the manufacturer to inform them of the issue so that they can make the needed adjustments. As we indicated in our contact with you earlier, you will be refunded in full right away. We sincerely apologize you were negatively impacted by this quality control issue with the manufacturer. We appreciate your feedback and your business very much!

I have used this sprayer 4 3 wks now & it is doing the job nicely with ease. I can spray for a good 2 hrs on a battery charge and it is so easy to handle on my yard. I have a 2 acre yard and I use it by hand or hook it up 2 the lawn mower. I am a 65 yr old lady & if I can use this anybody can. I would highly recommend this sprayer. I searched 4 months before I purchased this one & this was the best choice. A little more money but well worth it.

I LOVE my sprayer.
By Marsha in Colorado Springs, CO> on 02/20/2015
I purchased this sprayer in May 2014. I used it from mid May to Mid September every day. I didn't use it to spray weeds or trees but used it to clean pit toilets and put out fires. I'm a host at a campground in the Rocky mountains. This sprayer has made my job so much easier. It holds a good amount of water and has a pretty forceful spray. The hose was stiff so I changed it out for a rubber one. I added a hitch to my golf cart and it pulls nicely. The battery holds a good charge and is easy to recharge. I am very pleased with this purchase and would buy it again.

Back saver sprayer!
By Marcia in Lafayette on 01/18/2015
Fantastic home Gardner tool. Did replace the sprayer hose first thing with one from the hardware store (longer and more flexible) attached a 1 1/2" diameter piece of PVC vertically to the handle to keep the wand safe. Tank is sturdy. Sprays beautifully, far enough to do all my fruit trees and rolls easily on my pathways. I am thrilled to have it! I am going to use it to fertilize all my flowers and pots too. Battery charger light is questionable but battery works very well.

really great sprayer. Hose is a little stiff, other than that, love it.
Have a question about this product?
Ask our product experts...
Ask a Question
QCan you get the cart sprayer with a longer hose?
... or can I add a longer hose to it? Also, is the battery basically a garden tractor type battery?
AUnfortunately there is not an option to get a longer hose, however we do not see why you could not possibly lengthen or replace the hose section with a longer one. The battery is built into the side of the sprayer, but it is not a typical lawnmower battery. It actually requires very little power to utilize an electric sprayer. The rechargeable battery portion is very lightweight and smaller compared to a typical lawnmower battery.
QCan you provide more information on the battery for this sprayer?
I have a portable sprayer with a rechargeable battery and I've run into some trouble with it's ability to recharge. The 12V batteries for my sprayer are expensive and hard to find, not to mention that they are only good for one season. I would like to know how and where to obtain replacement batteries for this product, and approximately how much they cost before I make a purchase. Thank you.
AThe battery is available through the manufacturer and the price of the battery is $69.99 with Free Shipping. We have had no complaints on the life of the battery to date so far.
QHow much does the 9 Gallon Cart Sprayer weigh empty?
Can you tell me the weight of the sprayer (approximately) with nothing in it?
AThe sprayer weighs 44 pounds when it is assembled and empty.
QHow far will the 9 gallon Master Gardener Cart Sprayer spray?
AThe 9 gallon cart sprayer has an adjustable nozzle and when the nozzle is turned to a pin stream you can get about 12 to 15 feet from the nozzle. We do carry a Chapin Slide Pump Sprayer which can reach about 30 feet.
03/31/2013 Fred from Lexington, Ky 40517
QWhat is the psi pressure output on this sprayer, what is the flow (example one gallon per hour)?
If the pump on and the nozzel is turned off will the pump turnoff auto or keep pumping pressure and if so will this damage the pump?
AThe pump, when activated, will begin to run until 40 psi is reached. The built in pressure switch will then shut off the pump. The 9 gallon cart sprayer has a max spray rate of 1 GPM.

QI am interested in purchasing the 9 Gallon Master Gardener Cart Sprayer. Do you ship to Ottawa Ontario, Canada?
How long would it take for delivery?
AUnfortunately we do not ship to Canada at this time. Many of our Canadian customers will have a product shipped to someone in the United States that they happen to know like a friend or family member, and they they forward it onto Canada. Can I use this sprayer to do seal coating in my driveway?
AWe would not recommend using the 9 Gallon Master Gardener Cart Sprayer to do any type of sealing. This sprayer is used to spray herbicides, pesticides, and for watering. You should not use harsh chemicals in this sprayer. We would recommend using the Chapin 3.5 Gallon Concrete Sprayer if you want to do any type of sealing in your driveway. It is used for sealing, form oil and curing compound applications but not acetones.

QWand hose coil issue
The coiled hose for the hand held wand is very stiff. Is there a way to loosen it up? Would you suggest I replace it locally with a straight hose? I know the coil is lengthy when stretched out but it awakward to try to use it that way.
AAccording to Master MFG you can either use a 3/8 x 3/8 hose mender and add the straight hose to the existing coiled hose on the 9 Gallon Master Gardener Cart Sprayer or replace it completely. However, please keep in mind that making these adjustments may void your manufacturer warranty.

QMaybe you need to refine your answer to Eric's question on 5/24/11 about the product weight?
44 pounds might be the shipping weight. The weight on the mfr's box is 16.7 KG +- .15 KG, which is about 37 pounds. No weight is added by the customer during assembly.
AYou are correct about the 9 Gallon Master Gardener Cart Sprayer - Battery Powered weight. We apologize for any confusion. Thank you for bringing this to our attention as we are currently filtering through outdated information.
QDoes the 9 Gallon Master Gardener Cart Sprayer come with solid rubber tires?
If I order the sprayer can I be assured it will come with the solid rubber tires? I DO NOT want the tires that have to be aired up
