    Using Mini Blox myself.

    By Kim on 09/08/2011

    Verified Purchase

I live in the country and found out quickly that mice & rats like warm, dry places with a food source. After paying an exterminator a HUGE sum, they cleared under my house, & inside my walls of the vermin. I could not afford to keep thier service, so I researched the product they used. When I found your site on line, I realized I could afford to take care of my home myself at a significantly smaller cost. I appreciate the peace of mind, knowing I can do this for my family & home. Thank you also for making product selection & shipping easy.

Excellent service, the product came to my door in just a few days. Generation Mini Blocks work extremely well in keeping rats and mice away from my home. I will keep using this product and supporting Do My Own Pest Control.

I think I have killed them all - finally!!!

    By Amy on 09/17/2013

Worked Great! It is similar ingredients to the chicken food the rats were used to eating so they gobbled it up and 4 days later started showing up dead! Now hopefully the treadle feeder will keep them from coming back.

Q
Is Generation (Difethialone) preferred over Final (Brodifacoum)?

I've been told that Difethialone is preferred over Brodifacoum by professionals. Is this true? Is Difethialone, in theory, more "effective" on rodent control over Brodifcoum, assuming rodents were to eat both products equally? Thanks

A
As with many rodenticide and insecticide products, there are always people that swear that one active ingredient is better than the other. In reality, when placed correctly and other food sources are limited both baits will be very effective. Final bait seems to be more popular with our customers.

Q
What is known about secondary poisoning (cats and birds) with Generation Mini Blox?
A
Secondary poisoning can occur with Generation Mini Blox but it is a concern with just about any rodent bait on the market.  However, for secondary poisoning to occur your pet would have to consume many dead rodents that ingested a significant amount of the rodent bait.  Typically, most household pets (dogs and cats) do not eat an entire dead rodent, they usually leave them on the doorstep as a trophy.  Also, they would have to find numerous dead rodents around that were accessible and this only happens in very bad infestations.  Most of the time a rodent will die in the wall or underground in burrows.  This being said, there is a new rodent bait on the market that is a vitamin D3 active ingredient which is the safest product to date and greatly diminishes the chances of secondary poisoning, and it poses a very low toxicity to birds.  It is called Terad 3 Blox and you can read more about it by clicking on the product name.

Q
What are the advantages Difethialone offers compared to other anticoagulants?
A
Difethialone (the active ingredient in Generation Mini Blox) is a second generation anticoagulant that has been shown to be very effective on rodents and mice that have been resistant to first generation anticoagulants (such as warafarin).

Q
Can Generation Mini Blocks kill dogs?

Dog eats the bait

A

Yes, Generation Mini Blocks can kill any mammal, including dogs, if they consume the bait. It is important to secure any rodent bait inside tamper resistant stations to protect non-target animals.

Q
After putting the Generation Mini Blocks into a secure box and placing it by my shed, will other local wildlife, ex. chipmunks or squirrels, be attracted to the bait?
A
It is possible that a smaller squirrel or chipmunk can fit in the bait stations.  Since squirrels and rats are similar sized, there are not really any options that will target only rats and not squirrels. The Generation Mini Blocks may attract and eradicate them if consumed as they are in the rodent family also.
