Gentrol IGR Concentrate

Gentrol IGR Concentrate travels deep into wall cavities, cracks and crevices, reaching the stored product pests that other treatments miss. Hydroprene, the active ingredient, prevents stored product pest larvae from progressing to the pupal stage of development, so the larvae die before they become breeding adults and future infestations. 1oz. bottle. Gentrol Concentrate should never be used to eliminate a roach population by itself. Gentrol will not kill roaches...it only prevents them from reproducing. You should use roach baits and roach sprays in conjunction with the Gentrol Concentrate.

Active Ingredient: (S)-Hydroprene (CAS #65733-18-8) . . . . . . . . 9%
Target pests: Roaches, drain and fruit flies, Bedbugs, and stored product pest populations.
For use in: Food and non-food areas
Application: mix vial with one gallon of water and use as crack and crevice, spot, or fogging application. Most effective when mixed with a liquid insecticide.
Yield: 1 oz. per gallon of water. One pint (16 oz.) makes 16 gallons of solution. For roaches repeat every 4 months. For Bed bugs repeat every 2 weeks. For fruit and drain flies repeat every 2-4 weeks.

How Gentrol IGR Concentrate Works

Gentrol IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) Concentrate travels deep into wall cavities, cracks and crevices, reaching the stored product pests, drain and fruit flies, and fleas, that other treatments miss. Hydroprene, the active ingredient, prevents pest larvae from progressing to the pupal stage of development, so the larvae die before they become breeding adults – and future infestations. Cockroaches and bedbugs exposed to Gentrol will become adults incapable of reproducing.

Stored product pests encounter hydroprene the same way they encounter insecticides – traveling on or rubbing against a treated surface. Gentrol IGR Concentrate spreads out from its point of application, creating a much larger treated surface than conventional insecticides. Gentrol Concentrate should always be diluted with water when applying with a sprayer. Because Gentrol is an insect growth regulator and not an adulticide, it should not be used as the sole protection for target pests.

Target Pests

Roaches, drain flies, fruit flies, bed bugs, stored product pests

PESTS CONTROLLED WITH GENTROL IGR CONCENTRATE: Cockroaches, drain flies, fruit flies, bed bugs, stored product pests (including Indian meal moths, rice moths, tobacco moths, red flour beetles, confused flour beetles, lesser grain borers, merchant grain beetles, sawtooth grain beetles, warehouse beetles, cigarette beetles, and Dermestid beetles)

Target Uses

GENTROL, an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), is a synthetic juvenile hormone "look-alike" which disrupts the normal growth development of bedbugs and roaches. Bedbugs and roaches exposed to the GENTROL IGR Concentrate will become adults incapable of reproducing, thus ending the cycle of an infestation. Use GENTROL IGR Concentrate in apartment buildings, hospitals, hotels/motels, residential homes, nursing homes, and marine vessels. Because of its broad labeling, Gentrol can be used in many sensitive areas where other sprays cannot. Gentrol is an excellent accompaniment to baiting programs for cockroaches, and it can be tank mixed with insecticides for treating bed bugs, roaches, or other listed pests.

Whether it’s used as a fogging agent or general surface spray, the long-term control of Gentrol IGR Concentrate is ideal for these sites:

Warehouses
Food Handling Establishments
Schools
Hospitals
Nursing Homes
Aircraft, Ships, Trains, Trucks

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: S-Hydroprene 9.0%

Gentrol IGR Concentrate Application Instructions

Use Gentrol as a general surface spray, fogging, spot, or crack and crevice application. Mix Gentrol Concentrate with diluent and apply with spray or hand application equipment, such hand-pressurized or power-operated sprayers capable of delivering general surface spray, fogging (space spray/mist), spot, crack and crevice spray applications, or with a paint brush, roller, or similar device.

Mix GENTROL IGR Concentrate with water and apply with spray or hand application equipment, such as hand pressurized or power-operated sprayers capable of delivering spot or crack and crevice spray applications.

Dilution Preparation:
For spot and crack and crevice preparations:
Use 1 ounce of GENTROL IGR Concentrate to 1 gallon of water. Partially fill the mixing container with water, add the GENTROL IGR Concentrate, shake or stir, and fill to final volume. Use diluted solution within 48 hours of mixing. Shake or stir before each use.

Spot and Crack and Crevice Applications:
Apply GENTROL IGR Concentrate diluted spray solution using either a pressurized spray system capable of delivering a pinpoint or variable spray pattern or a device capable of coating evenly. Make crack and crevice applications directly to areas such as crevices, baseboards, floors, ceilings, or walls. Make spot treatments to areas such as storage areas, closets, doors, and behind and under furniture and beds. To treat bedbugs, apply to harborage points mentioned above; in addition, under beds, bottom side of box springs (do not treat linens and mattresses), under and behind night stands, to points where carpet and wall meet, cracks in cove base, molding, and other areas where bedbugs harborage.

Gentrol Concentrate may be tank mixed with an adulticide currently registered for use, unless the product label prohibits such use.

Gentrol Concentrate may also be converted to a foam. For best results, use the higher amount of the foaming agent rate range.

Always read the product label completely before use.

Each 1 oz. bottle yields 1 gallon of finished solution. Each 16 oz. bottle yields 16 gallons of finished solution. 1 gallon of finished solution covers 1,500 square feet of surface area.

Standard Application Dilution rates / Mixing Ratios for Gentrol IGR Concentrate

*1 fl. oz. (30 mL)/gal. of water – surface, spot, or crack and crevice applications

*1 fl. oz. (30 mL) per 12,000 cubic feet – fogging applications

Gentrol IGR Concentrate is for use in the following areas:

Apartment buildings, bakeries, bottling facilities, breweries, boiler rooms, cafeterias, candy plants, grocery stores, day care centers, hospitals, residential homes, hotel/motels, office buildings, kitchens, laboratories, cereal processing facilities, manufacturing plants, mausoleums, meat and produce canneries, nursing homes, restaurants, schools, locker rooms, stores, taverns, warehouses, as well as various modes of transportation such as aircraft, buses, trucks, trailers, rail cars, and marine vessels; food and non-food areas of food-handling establishments.

Indoors-

Fogging Application: Apply Gentrol Concentrate as a fog or an ultra-low volume (ULV) mist with equipment such as ULV, mechanical misting sprayers, aerosol generators, or thermal foggers to achieve uniform coverage. Apply at a rate of 1 ounce Gentrol per 12,000 cubic feet. Use water or oil as diluent, depending on the type of equipment used. Fogging applications are best for larger facilities including warehouses. Close room or warehouse and shut off all ventilation systems. Apply the product in the air and direct mist toward all areas that may harbor target pests. After treatment, leave the room closed for 30 minutes or longer as recommended by the equipment manufacturer or the labels of other products applied in tank mixing. Do not remain in treated area; ventilate before reentry.

Bed Bugs: Apply to harborage points mentioned above; in addition, under beds, bottom side of box springs (do not treat linens and mattresses), under and behind night stands, to points where carpet and wall meet, cracks in cove base, molding, and other areas where bedbugs harborage. Retreat at 14 days for heavy infestations. Gentrol cannot be used as the sole treatment for bed bugs.

Drain Flies, Fruit Flies: Apply Gentrol to areas of fly breeding. For drains, apply product into and around the downspout and catch basin area. Coat these areas thoroughly as fly larvae develop in the scum buildup on the sides of drain pipes. Repeat applications at 2 to 4 week intervals depending upon the severity of infestation.

Pantry/Cabinets, Small Food Storage Areas: Apply as a surface spray, crack and crevice spray, or spot treatment to pantry and cupboard shelves or other areas where food is stored. Prior to spraying, remove all food containers and foodstuffs. Do not replace food containers or foodstuffs until spray has dried. Do not store food in open containers in treated pantries. Destroy any infested food packages to ensure proper control.

Outdoors-

Gentrol IGR Concentrate is not intended for outdoor use because it is not photostable (the product breaks down quickly in direct sunlight).

4 of 5 Stars  This product works! Thank Goodness!

My sons roommate picked up an old sofa-bed for his room. It had bedbugs! My sons house became infected before anyone knew what happened. No one in our family had ANY experience with these horrible creatures! He ordered from your company and was pleased. Then, the little buggers found their way into MY house, probably because while he was treating his house, we kept our granddaughter with us, of course bringing along some clothes and toys! They really got after my husband because he has a very warm body. We ordered your product and are very pleased! We haven't seen any bugs in 3 weeks, I have one more spraying to do. You should spray at least 3 times, 10 days apart. The odor was affordable, the directions good, and best of all, IT WORKS!

    5 of 5 Stars  It's just works!
By Kahina on October 22, 2010

This stuff works! I'm soooo glad to have found your website and to have found something that actually works immediately. I just moved into an apartment the 1st of this month where it unfortunately had roaches. I couldn't sleep when I noticed the apartment had them; I'd never lived with these ungodly creatures before. I purchased this product along with the Drione and they did the trick! I think my landlord is amazed but he won't let on. He's been paying an exterminator to visit twice a month. This stuff works, the exterminator is a waste of his money. It's been three weeks and I'm more than happy to say that I can rest peacefully.

5 of 5 Stars  The Best.
By Chris on July 4, 2010

I used this stuff to get rid of bedbugs -- it's the only thing that really worked because it's a genetic disruptor and breaks their life cycle. It had the added bonus of breaking the life cycle of every other insect also -- so I haven't seen a roach or a fly ever since I used it. What an awesome product.

5 of 5 Stars  This works!
    By J. on May 22, 2011

A few years back our Queens, NY apartment became infested with bed bugs. The landlord called an exterminator, who treated our apartment about four times. One of the exterminators (then sent a different one each time) told me that the bug spray mix wasn't really meant to get rid of bed bugs permanently, just put them into temporary hiding. After the four or so treatments, we still had the bedbugs. I decided on this product after reading the literature that was available then. It turned out to work. After one treatment of this, the bed bugs slowed down, and after two they disappeared. I think I did this for a total of three times, and we never saw the bugs again. I had purchased the whole box and had most of it left after treating my apartment three times. Needless to say, the entire box of the Gentrol IGR cost less than a single visit from a NYC exterminator. As an added benefit, Gentrol IGR also fubars roaches. I now use it on my own commercial property for roach control, and for me, it is more effective (by killing the bugs and by cost) than hiring the bug company.

5 of 5 Stars  The Mighty Roach War
    By Med12 on July 5, 2014

It seems to be working well. Recently moved into a new place and didn't notice till it was too late that it had a pretty established german roach population. Initially I sprayed with talstar-P. It killed a lot, but more were always coming so I purchased Gentrol and sprayed with a mix of the two. I still see an occasional roach now about two weeks after spraying BUT it is usually dead.

March 14, 2010 Patrick asked:

QCan Gentrol IGR concentrate be diluted with other insecticides?

AYes, Gentrol IGR concentrate can either be applied by itself in a gallon of water, or you can mix it directly with any other insecticide you happen to be spraying with.  The Gentrol IGR comes in 1 ounce vials, which is the exact amount you need to mix with each gallon of water or gallon of other insecticide.  1 ounce or 1 vial of Gentrol IGR per gallon of water.

October 19, 2010 George asked:

QIf bed bugs walk over dried Gentrol IGR, does it work? Or does it have to be sprayed on a live bedbug?
Does it work with all roaches? If yes, which ones?

AGentrol IGR does not have to be applied directly to bed bugs or roaches to work.  It has a residual that can last up to 4 months, so it can be picked up by bed bugs, roaches, drain flies and pantry pests long after it dries. It will work on all species of roaches.

November 20, 2012 Joel from Sunnyside,ny asked:

Qcan I spray gentrol on all the walls and ceilings in my apartment?
I have small kids and am worried once the Gentrol dries if the residual is bad for them if they touch the walls? Also I have pets, what happens if I spray the floors, will the residual affect my dogs?

AYou should apply the Gentrol IGR as directed on the product label, directly into cracks and crevices around door frames, window frames, baseboards and under appliances. There is no need to spray the entire wall, ceiling or floor. All children should be out of the area during the application and they can safely return to the treated as soon as it has dried. The dried residual will not have any effect on people or pets even if they touch it. Also, by applying the product directly to cracks, crevices, voids and other inaccessible areas you will be limiting anyone's exposure to the product.

November 12, 2014 Derrick from Lubbock Tx asked:

QWill the Gentrol IGR disc affect my dog?

A Gentrol IGR in any form will not affect a dog, child or adult in any way that would harm them, or keep any of them from being able to reproduce. The Gentrol is specifically formulated to only affect the juvenille growth hormone that only insects posses and hinder it from working properly.

November 3, 2014 Tiffany from Ky asked:

QHow good and safe is this product?
I have a few concerns about using any chemicals in my home for health/safety reasons. 1. How safe around small children? I have a 2 year old. 2. If sprayed in cabinets and pantries, will I need to wash everything that as set on the shelves after they have dried to not come in contact with it ourselves? 3. Is there a strong odor? 4. How long does it take to dry?

A

Gentrol IGR has a mild petroleum solvent odor and is completely safe for kids once the product has dried. When applying using a hand pump sprayer, it usually takes 1-3 hours to dry and the kids would need to be out of the room while spraying. When treating in cabinet & pantry areas, follow the instructions per label listed below.

QWhat do I do with any unused portion of the product after mixing?
I am trying to come up with a game plan for a roach problem and I am planning on mixing this with Demon WP. I am wondering if I do not use the entire gallon of solution can it be saved for a later date?

A Whenever you mix up a solution it needs to be used within 24-48 hours. Since both the Demon WP and Gentrol control other pests than just roaches, you can always spray the outside of the home with the remainder to control ants, spiders, millipedes and other various pests.

September 29, 2014 Sarah asked:

QBed bugs/mopping/diatomaceous earth
Can or should I wet or dry mop after using your Gentrol IGR? Is it okay to also put down diatomaceous earth once your product has dried?

A Once Gentrol IGR is dry, it is safe to mop in your home. We would recommend using Gentrol IGR in conjunction with other products, such as Temprid SC. This will provide a residual and an insect growth regulator for the pests. You will use these every two weeks for bed bugs. We would also recommend treating your mattress and furniture with Bedlam Insecticide. You will spray this product in the seams and tufts where bed bugs reside. Diatomaceous Earth should be used inside the wall voids. This will dry out the bed bugs and prevent them from spreading. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

September 24, 2014 Mark from Provo Ut asked:

QIs using NyGuard IGR with Temprid SC to treat bedbugs a good idea?
Is this a good combination or is there a better combination of spray and IGR that you would recommend? I know a lot of people use Gentrol for bedbugs, but I'm not familiar with the differences.

A Nyguard IGR is not labeled for bed bugs. Temprid SC can be mixed with Gentrol IGR. It will stop the bed bugs from reproducing. You will need to use Gentrol IGR every two weeks when you spray the Temprid SC along the baseboards and cracks and crevices. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

QHow long do you wait to spray Gentrol and Demon WP?
I just spray three days ago, not seeing many big ones seeing most medium size ones, not seeing small ones either, just wondering how long should I wait to spray again.

A Demon WP and Gentrol should be applied once every 90 days to indoor cracks and crevices and outside crevices on the exterior of the structure. We highly recommend applying a professional roach bait gel to the cracks and crevices that you have not sprayed with the insecticide/IGR mixture. The bait should be applied once every two weeks (make sure to clean up old bait).

QIs it safe to use in a room with birds? Does it need special dilution?
I have enclosed rooms with many birds in them. What is the safest area for application? Does this need to be diluted more? Is it at all airborne like the traps that you stick to the wall? I want roaches dead, but I'm worried about my birds respiratory systems.

A Since birds are very sensitive, we cannot advised to apply Gentrol in any area birds may be in. Please contact your Cooperative extension Office or Vet to see what chemicals would be safe to use the bird areas.

July 29, 2014 Mark from San Diego Ca asked:

QIs Gentrol IGR Concentrate good for bedbugs. and if so what is the water to concentrate ratio?

A There simply has not been enough time since the outbreak of bedbugs for proper studies to be done on the long term effect of Gentrol on bedbugs. There have been no studies published that support Gentrol IGR Concentrate   making bedbug infestations worse and we have not had any reports to that effect either. Once Gentrol has been applied, it will be effective for bedbugs for about 2-4 weeks. We do not have Gentrol in our kits at this time because we feel that your money can be better spent on products that we know for sure will work. - See more at: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/gentrol-igr-concentrate-p-211.html?keywords=bed+bugs&search_for=questions#questions
