It's war, and I'm winning
By Steve on September 8, 2010My yard was under attack by moles. I'd wake every morning to five or so new mounds. I tried traps, but I wasn't having much luck. I didn't really want to use poison since I have two dogs and there are several cats in my neighborhood (they are one of the best solutions to moles). So, I started buying these at the local hardware store and using them. It is not an overnight solution. I would get up every morning and drop one of these in each new mound. Each day, there would be fewer mounds in the morning. After about a week of doing this, I pretty much conquered. I get maybe one mound a week. I live on a golf course, so I have neighboring grass on all sides (also filled with mole holes), so they journey into my yard at times. I realized pretty quick that buying these at the local hardware store pack by pack was going to get expensive. I searched the web for a better price and found this case. From here on out, I'll just always keep some on hand and be back for another case when I get low.

Best tool I've found
By SC on August 7, 2010

The giant smokers really worked compared to poison pallet and juicy fruit, etc. Can't use trap because soil is only 1 inch deep in most of the yard. We used this product a few years ago under our concrete porch and we didn't see gravels being dug out any more. This year, we had tunnels and holes all over the yard in about 2-3 weeks time. We used only 3 smokers in 2 different places. No more tunnels or holes.

Best that I have found
By J.d. on July 5, 2010I estimate that the number of gopher/moles killed per gasser deployed is about 10%. Even though I would like a higher "kill rate", this product is more effective than any others that I have found.

It's war!
By Rian on August 1, 2010Gophers took over my yard. Leaving 8-10 new holes every 24 hrs. I've been at war with them 3 weeks placing a destroyer as soon as a hole appears. It's not over yet, but it's down to 1-2 holes in every 24 hrs.

Battle of the rodents 2001
By Chuck on April 15, 2011Okay, I have secured financing for an all out battle, using scorched earth tactics. I purchased a dozen packages, which arrived quite quickly from DoMyOwnPestControl.com, and immediately sent my forces to battle. I started with the close combat and lit some gassers in the the existing holes. Within a week, I have moved the pests about 60 yds BEYOND my grass areas and now I'm initiating phase 2. I call it Operation Acre 2 Haboob. Gassers are working great so far.

Giant Destroyer
By James on April 17, 2013

I have three different types of mole traps, but I believe the most effective way is to gas them with the Giant Destroyer. The mole tunnel needs to be fresh and you have to dig into it and after lit, I cover it with a garbage can lid or something similar.

Good and Bad
By Theo on March 25, 2013These bombs are hit and miss. If placed close enough to the main den they will work. If placed further away in one of the runs, the gas won't disperse enough to kill the critters.

By Kathleen on February 14, 2013I will be able to try these in the spring. I am planning on turning into the Bill Murray character in Caddyshack.... I truly hope they will work as I have had so much damage in my yard that it's brought me to tears.

Product Quality Complaint
By Bob on December 6, 2012The smoke bomb works well if you can set off a bomb on each end of a main tunnel and catch them in the middle. Otherwise, you just run them around and eventually catch up to them. Not cost effective but I use these with "poison peanuts" and the war goes back and forth in spurts. My complaint is that the fuses have lost their stiffness in recent months and at times are so small in diameter or so soft that you cannot insert them into the hole to ignite the bomb or they fall out and the bomb doesn't ignite. The quality control is lacking and needs some serious attention!

August 9, 2009 Debbie asked:
QIs is safe to eat vegetables after using Giant Destroyers?
I used your Giant Destroyer product in my garden area about one month ago just after I planted my garden. The mole hole was about two feet away from the first row of garden that I planted but close to my rhubarb plant. Is is safe to eat my vegetables and my rhubarb? Here is what I planted: swiss chard, green beans and onions. I also have a greenhouse in the same area in which I have tomato and cucumber plants. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
AGiant Destroyer does not leave a residual at all and is not a product that is taken up by the plants root systems whatsoever. Once a cartridge is done burning and has killed the mole, the smoke dissipates and is no longer present.
August 23, 2009 Nick asked:
QShould I keep my pets and dogs away when using Giant Destroyer?
I have a dog that runs loose in my yard. How long should I keep him out of the yard after I use the Giant Destroyer?
AThe Giant Destroyer typically is suppose to be used under ground and the smoke contained in a gophers tunnel which would be air tight. Once the Giant Destroyer has been used there would be no side effects from the product that your dog could suffer from. The dog can enter the yard immediately after the Giant Destroyer has been deployed.
October 19, 2009 Karen asked:
QI have squirrels living in my walls. Can I use Giant Destroyer safely in my home?
ANo, Giant Destroyer is basically a smoke bomb that is meant to be place outside in burrows and holes under the ground. If you used this inside your whole house would be filled with smoke and that would not be good. It is not permissible to use this product inside. You probably have squirrels in your attic. You should use one of our Havahart squirrel traps in the attic to capture the squirrels. Also, this means there is an opening somewhere around your roof line where they are getting in. You should make sure all trees are cut back from the roof line and close up any openings around the house that could allow for squirrels to enter the home.
May 14, 2011 Thomas asked:
QIs it deadly if you inhale the Giant Destroyer gas by accident?
AGiant Destroyers can be dangerous when they are not used according to the product label. The small amount of fumes you may breathe in when lighting the cartridge would not be harmful.
July 4, 2011 Ray asked:
QCan you use the Giant Destroyer in vegetable gardens?
AWe do not recommend that you use Giant Destroyer in vegetable gardens. Instead you should try to use the product outside the perimeter of the garden being sure to avoid the root system of the plants.

Greg from Portland, Oregon asked:
QRats under concrete slab
Rats have burrowed under a concrete patio slab in my back yard. Can Giant Destroyer be used to kill the rats. Clearance to combustibles is not a problem.
AIf the patio slab is not connected to the house slab you can use a Giant Destroyer to help eliminate the rat. If there are many tunnels or if it is in an area where you cannot seal up the entrances you may want to consider using rat poison baits instead such as Fastrac or Contrac.

Jamie from Hope British Columbia asked:
QIf I was to use Giant Destroyer by just lighting it and putting it under my house would it do its job?
A Giant Destroyers cannot be used beneath manmade structures. Please take a few minutes to read over the Giant Destroyer product label so that you may better understand how to use the product and what precautions need to be taken when applying a cartridge. According to the Giant Destroyer product label: USE RESTRICTIONS: FOR OUTDOOR USE ONLY. This product may be used only to control pocket gophers, moles, woodchucks, rats, skunks, and ground squirrels in non-crop areas (including residential lawns, parks, golf courses, re-forested areas, open fields) and in rangeland. Do not use where use of gas cartridges is prohibited by local ordinances. Do not use under buildings, homes, porches or any structure due to possible fire hazard. Only use inside of burrows and never inside of buildings. Product effectiveness may be limited in dry or porous soil which permits the escape of toxic gases from treated burrow.

Joe from Basking Ridge, Nj asked:
QI am having problems with field mice, chipmunks and groundhogs in my yard. What should I be using?
I have a large yard and have many pests, but the mice, chipmunks and groundhogs seem to be doing the most damage. Is there a poison solution/solutions. I have bait stations and cross contamination is not a problem.
AUnfortunately there is not one solution for all of the pests you mentioned. There are no baits (poisons) on the market that are labeled for groundhogs or for chipmunks, and there are very limited baits available for field mice (aka voles). We recommend you read the following articles to learn more about eliminating these pests from your property: How to get rid of groundhogs, How to get rid of chipmunks, How to get rid of voles. Each of these articles will explain in detail what you can do to get rid of the pests you have now and how you can modify your property to make it less favorable to future pests.
August 23, 2011 Tom asked:
QWill Giant Destroyers kill a wasp nest in a down spout if I lite in bottom of the spout (ground level)?
AGiant Destroyers are labeled for use in underground burrows only and should not be used in a down spout. We recommend using an insecticide such as Wasp Freeze for a fast knockdown and Cyper WP for residual killing power.
