    Havahart Trap

    By Dennis on 10/21/2010

The Havahart 1085 is the only single door trap I've had any luck with trapping wild cats. You must also use a human scent remover so the cat won't shy away from the opening. Make the trap as natural as possible with brush, limbs or any other natural material. I bait with either sardines in oil or tunafish in oil-both work great!

    Effective trap

    By Nic on 01/05/2012

The trap worked well, as I caught my nuisance animal. I wish it had a "back door" to the cage making it easier to set bait. Overall effective and well built trap.

    It just works

    By Tony on 04/06/2012

This trap is rugged. After trapping two armadillos and a huge raccoon the trap shows no sign of abuse or wear. I thought the raccoon would have wreaked havoc on the trap but, no. Super easy to use. Just bait it and forget it.

    Worthless for adult racoons

    By Andy on 01/09/2015

In Anaheim Ca we are being over run by rac coons. They love the dry cat food. Three juvenile ones sat on my patio table and casually munched on my cats food. They stared right at me until I got real close. The cats are afraid of them. So I set the trap and apparently caught ma or pa. They bent the door lock up real good and ate the food. So much for the 1085. They sent me a new door lock and spring.

easy set not so easy release

    By Tony on 08/16/2017

trap is definitely easy to set. but when youre trying to release a skunk sitting on the trip plate the door wont stay open. You've either got to stand there holding the handle in the set position or put a rock on it to hold it down while a loaded skunk takes its sweet time leaving.

    Works well

    By Tony on 05/13/2017

Effective providing you find the right bait and keep your own scent off the trap. Be aware that animals can cut themselves up as they try to find a way out of the trap. Solved my raccoon problem.

    Havahart 1085

    By Bob on 11/14/2020

This is an excellent, very easy to set trap. I've caught numerous medium sized animals in it without problem or damage to the trap. The front door's operating via a cable also simplified the release of a skunk that was inadvertently trapped. I used a long pole as a lever to open the door from a distance of 8 feet and allowed the skunk to walk out on his own timeframe. The service from DoMyOwn was also excellent, as was their extremely generous Shipping and Handling policy (free in this instance.)

    Groundhog Day

    By Kevin on 08/19/2022

I have three of the biggest ground hogs known to man on my property. The grandaddy tunneled under the floor of my machine shop. I filled, covered, drove stakes, crammed boulders even poured a gallon of old gas down the hole. NOTHING would stop this bugger! Elusive would be a mild adjective to describe this guys ninja skills . Half of a honey crisp apple cut into pieces with the trap set 10 yds from his hole and it was game over. One set , one trapped! caught the other two the same way over the next two days..... Funny, now my neighbor seems to be having a ground hog problem! LOL! Trap came assembled, was easy to set. I was impressed with the adjustable plate pressure capability. From Hare trigger to Groundzilla setting with ease!
