Tom from Grand Island, Nebraska writes

How do I control broadleaf weeds in my blue and fescue grass?

We live in central Nebraska and have blue and fescue grass. What is the best product to control crab grass, dandelions, spurge, and clover?

Answer:

It is recommended that you wait a full growing cycle before applying pre or post emergents on your grass to ensure it can handle the shock of applying an herbicide. Surflan Pro is labeled to control crabgrass in your turf and is a great product to use as a pre-emergent.  You should apply pre-emergents now, in the fall, and then again in the spring typically. EndRun Herbicide is a powerful generic selective post-emergent herbicide that offers control of Dandelion, Clover, Knotweed, Henbit, Chickweed, Plantain, Spurge, and many other broadleaf weeds. For optimum times in your area to apply a pre or post emergents, you should contact your local county extension office.
