How does the Vector 960 Fruit Fly Trap work?

Just bought this. Had a for a week. Not sure how it (traps) them? I get that they are attracted to it. Do they drink it then die? Do they drown in it?

Answer:

The Vector 960 Fruit Fly Traps do not have actual poison in them, They have a fruity, vinegary smelling liquid in them that attracts the fruit flies. Once inside the trap, the fruit flies cannot get out.
