We recommend the following treatment program:
Pets should be flea dipped or treated the day of or just prior to following this program.
1. First, do a complete thorough vacuuming of all carpeted surfaces and seal the vacuum bag and throw away (as it will contain fleas and eggs). If you have a bagless vacuum, dump outside in a trash bag and seal immediately.
2. Spray down the entire carpet with Alpine Aerosol according to the instructions on the product label. You can also treat pet bedding areas. Wait a few hours for the product to dry, then vacuum the entire carpet again.
3. Provide a light dusting of CimeXa dust over floor coverings and carpets as directed on the CimeXa product label.
4. Wait approx. 10-14 days, then spray the entire surface of the carpet and floors again with Alpine Aerosol. Bad infestations may require a third treatment of Alpine in another 10-14 days for a total of three treatments.
Pro Tip: Vacumming carpeted surfaces, couches and seating areas mulitple times during the entire treatment process (every other day if possible, especially if the infestation is really bad) is always good practice. Vacumming pulls fleas and eggs to the surface and agitates them causing movement and contact with insecticides.

A successful war against the Fleas!
By Whitney on April 25, 2010

I've never had a flea infestation with my indoor cats but this was a DOOZY. The key is using the product TWICE-- after the first "round" the fleas were almost destroyed but then they came BACK after about a week. So then you get them AGAIN and this time, they are gone for good! It's a very intense process and it's helpful to have a second person helping you. My wonderful housekeeper helped. We moved out smaller pieces of furniture and stuff out of the closets that hung close to the floor. We also took out the under bed drawers and treated under the bed. She did the initial vacuuming, then I sprayed, we went room by room. She tossed the vacuum bag then after it was dry, vacuumed each room again, then tossed the bag. After that, I used the Flea Stoppers borax granular powder (much better than using regular borax from the store b/c it's not so messy and applies easier, also it doesn't float in the air) and rubbed it into the carpet with a broom. One week after initial application, the housekeeper vacuumed up all the Flea Stoppers stuff and tossed the vacuum bag. One more week after that, we did the whole process again. We also treated the main living room couch where we all hang out. I'm not ashamed to say that all this was QUITE a workout and that it took HOURS each time. But the fleas are gone. Oh, and we took the cats out of the apt entirely and boarded them for a few days during the second treatment and shaved them down (lion cuts) b/c they are Persians and the fleas were impossible to see in their fur. I used Advantage on them a bunch of times to kill all the fleas.

It works!

We had been dealing with fleas for about a month prior to ordering the indoor flea kit. We tried vacuuming twice a day, as well as a natural approach with diatomaceous earth. Neither worked. The Indoor Flea Kit sounded like a "step-up" approach we could live with. We have 3 small children, so it was important to stay away from the bug bombs. The process was easy, although labor intensive. It took us about four hours to take care of our 1600 sq. ft. house, including vacuuming, moving furniture, applying the powder, and spraying carpets and furniture. We moved the furniture to one side of the room, vacuumed, applied the powder, and then sprayed. We then did the same for the untreated side. Mess was minimal. There was practically no dust from the powder, and spraying close to the floor limited the mist in the air. We used all of the powder (although I probably put it down heavier than I should have) and one bottle of the spray. The next day, we noticed the first of several dead fleas on the hardwood area by our front door. Within 72 hours, we saw a significant decrease in the number of fleas that were on us or noticeable by us. One week after going through the process, we saw our last flea. That was two weeks ago. We waited a total of two weeks after application before vacuuming, and we pulled a decent amount of the powder up. But there is still plenty down there taking care of any remaining eggs and larvae. My only regret about this product is that we didn't go to it right away. It would have saved an incredible amount of aggravation and work. I highly recommend it, and will definitely use it again if I ever have the need to do so (which I hope we don't!).

Effective so far...

Flea stopper powder was easy to apply and vacuum up. It did not hurt my carpet in anyway. My pet Yorkie didn't seem to mind it and did him no harm. The fleas now congregate on the walls where I spray them with Ultracide. I also used the Ultracide on my furniture under the cushions and exterior. I did this twice one week apart and so far it works. It did not harm my fabric furniture. The only negative thing, I wish I could spray the ceiling. The spray nozzle is designed to spray down which I really like for ease of use. I would buy both products again without question.

Haven't used yet. I paid someone to od it professionally, and they used this product. It drives the fleas into hiding, and every time I move somethi8ng they come out of hiding and start biting again. I don't have wall to wll carpet, but just spot rugs, so the effect is not the same as treating the carpet.

Drowning in fleas
By Theresa on May 6, 2012We have vacuumed and sprayed, waited a couple of days, vacuumed and sprayed, used the powder and repeated and still the fleas are winning. I am going to have to just call Orkin. I only gave it one star because it wouldn't let me submit my review unless I did. I would have given it no stars.

Indoor Flea Kit
By Deirdre on February 1, 2012I read nothing but rave reviews on this product. Though my budget is extremely tight my other option was to torch my place as I had tried other products with no result. I am now in my second week after using the product and following instructions to the letter. I HOPEFULLY will see results very soon or will have no option but to move. The fleas were at bay at least until I vacuumed but now are back with a vengeance.

Effective but....
By Joel on October 23, 2011

This product works very well. The spray was easy to use and dried faster than expected, which was nice since my dog had to be locked out until it dried. The powder even though it seem to work was very hard to work into the carpet completely. I ended up vacuuming some areas to remove what the pets could get to which you are not supposed to do. I used a push broom to try and work it in. If anyone has a better idea it work be great if they would post it here.

January 14, 2010Sandy asked:
QIs Ultracide safe for my cats?
AYes, the Ultracide product in our Indoor Flea Kit is very safe to use around pets. Ultracide is a very safe and effective flea control product that is used widely by professional companies such as Terminix and Orkin in homes with children and pets all the time. You should only apply this product to carpeted areas and upholstered areas. Do not apply on top of couches and chairs where people rest their arms, fleas do not breed in these areas. You would want to spray around the foot of the furniture, and underneath couch cushions. You should have children and pets in another room while you are treating. After treatment allow 30 minutes to dry and then it is perfectly safe for children and pets to re-enter the room.
July 8, 2010Dawn asked:
QI have laminate flooring, what products should I use to treat for fleas?
We have bombed the house twice, and we have gotten rid of the cats. We couldn't take the fleas coming in. We have three children, two under two years old, and we can't take it any more. I think we also need to treat the yard, but I don't know what to do at this point.
A Laminate floors do not need to be sprayed with any products; they simply need to be vacuumed, very thoroughly, every day for the next couple of weeks. All upholstered furniture, rugs and carpets can be vacuumed then sprayed with Ultracide. Flea stoppers can be applied to all rugs and carpets to help control developing fleas. Outdoors, you can use Onslaught and Martins IGR sprayed onto moist shady areas and areas where you suspect animals may have spent a lot of time resting. We have put Onlsaught and Martins IGR together in a Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit for your convenience.
September 12, 2010Betty asked:
QI have fleas in my house, and I don't have any carpets. What product do I need to use to get rid of fleas?
AYou should thoroughly vacuum every square inch of floor and all of the upholstered furniture. All upholstered furniture and pet resting areas should be treated with Ultracide. If you have pets that go outdoors, then moist shady areas and other places where the pets may rest should be treated using products such as Tengard SFR and Martins IGR together. You should continue to vacuum indoors everyday for the next 14 days and expect to need to retreat at the end of that period. Severe infestations may also require a third treatment.
January 1, 2011Pam asked:
QI have a pregnant dog that weighs about 10 lbs. How do I safely kill fleas on her?
AWe do not recommend that you use any type of insecticide product on a pregnant or lactating dog. The best thing you can do for fleas on your pregnant dog is to bathe her with a dish detergent such as Dawn that has been diluted with water. Let the diluted soap sit on your dog for about 5-10 minutes. Rinse her thoroughly, then go to work with a flea comb. Drop fleas that have been combed out of her coat into a cup soapy water. Wash or replace all of her bedding and vacuum all carpeted areas frequently. You can treat all carpeted areas with Ultracide to help get rid of any fleas that are infesting the house (your dog must be removed from the area that is being treated) and Flea Stoppers to help keep the fleas gone. There are some topical products such as Frontline, that are labeled for use on pregnant dogs, but you should consult with your veterinarian to be sure it is safe for your dog.
October 7, 2010John asked:
QWhich is the most effective indoor/outdoor flea treatment? Please compare pump sprayers, atomizers and foggers.
I want to understand which products and tool combinations are the most effective (fastest and most reliable) against indoor and outdoor fleas.
AFoggers and atomizers are not good for fleas at all. We sell an indoor flea kit that is the best for fleas indoors. You must use an IGR (insect growth regulator) for fleas which you cannot use in a fogger or atomizer. Our kit is the best option for indoors as it is the same professional products professional companies use. The most important part of any flea treatment is vacuuming. You should vacuum before treating and then again every couple days after your treatment. You should also treat again in exactly 14 days. There is enough product in our indoor flea kit to treat an average size house twice. We also carry an outdoor/indoor flea kit that works great for the inside and outside of your home. This kit contains a liquid concentrate and an IGR (insect growth regulator). It is applied using a one gallon hand pump sprayer. When treating the outside, we recommend that you mow your lawn one to two days prior to the application.
September 12, 2011Julianne from Chicago, Il asked:
QWhich product do I use on which surface? Your answers vary.
Hello - I have extensive hardwood flooring throughout my house, with area rugs and of course furniture. In some cases you recommend in Q&A 'Ultracide for hardwoods' and FleaStoppers for carpet only. But later you say 'upholstered furniture rugs and carpets can be vacuumed then sprayed with Ultracide,' and 'Fleastoppers can be applied to all rugs and carpets."
I want to do this correctly the first time, as it will require a lot of work in a 3500sq/ft house, so please advise the correct sequence of product per surface type- Thank you.
AThe Ultracide can be applied to most surfaces including hard floor coverings, carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture and other pet resting areas (please test small inconspicuous area on hardwood flooring to be sure staining will not be a problem). Flea Stoppers can be applied to rugs and carpets only because if it is applied to hard flooring surfaces it can be slippery and cause you to fall. You should vacuum all areas prior to the application of either product.
October 4, 2011Joy from Fayetteville, N.c. 28314 asked:
QIf you would compare your product to Diatomaceous Earth- what is the difference?
I've seen where you said you can leave your product in the carpets for a few months. If so what about the pets being on the carpet while it's on there? So I also read about the other product I mentioned, yes I know it's powder, all of yours is spray. What about stuff to put on the animals, and the furniture & stuff?
AThe Indoor Flea Kit contains Ultracide which is an aerosol spray that can be applied to carpets, upholstered furniture and the pets resting areas. You should vacuum immediately before applying the Ultracide and every other day for the next 14 days for the best results. The kit also contains Flea Stoppers which is a granulated boric acid product that will fall to the bottom of the nap of carpets where fleas are most likely to develop. Developing flea larvae will actually feed on organic matter that has now been coated with Flea Stoppers. Since Flea Stoppers falls to the bottom of the carpet nap, it will not be vacuumed up like a dust product such as Diatomaceous Earth. Your pets will need to be treated with a product that is labeled for use on pets such as Petcor or a product that you get from your veterinarian.
November 4, 2009Anna asked:
QHow do I use Flea Stoppers for fleas in my carpet? The fleas are still here.
I purchased the flea stopper powder and I followed the directions, however the fleas are still in my carpet, what should I do now?
APlease call us at 866-581-7378 and we can help troubleshoot your situation. Did you get the Indoor Flea Kit with the Ultracide spray or just the FleaStoppers? Did you vacuum thoroughly before and after applying the product? Did you sweep in the FleaStoppers thoroughly into your carpet? There are a number of reasons why you still may be having issues. Please call us and we can try to help you figure out what to do next.
July 6, 2010Denise asked:
QCan children sleep in sleeping bags on the floor after the indoor flea kit is used?
AYes. As long as the Ultracide is completely dry and the Flea Stoppers has been properly applied, there should not be any problem with the children sleeping on the floor.
September 23, 2011Susan from Derby Ct asked:
QI have fleas in my basement. What is best product to use?
AMost folks use the Ultracide for treating basements infested with fleas. Be sure to vacuum thoroughly before you apply the Ultracide. You will need to do a repeat treatment after 14 days to get rid of any stragglers.
December 26, 2012Eileen from Brookyn, Ny asked:
QI am infested with fleas. What is your best suggestion? I'm at my wits end!
I've been using Ultracide. I've used Precor Fogger IGR in each room. I've been vacuuming 2-3X a week. The dog gets flea baths & is on Capstar. They seem to subside, but then they're back full force 2 days later! This has been going on for weeks. I don't know what else to do. It's a nightmare.
A For indoors, I would highly recommend our Indoor Flea Kit. It is our most popular product for indoor flea control and is usually the final treatment that people end up using that works when they have tried everything else. Here is a link for you to read further: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/indoor-flea-kit-p-1056.html Hopefully the flea problem is not below the carpet in the base flooring…..that is the worst situation where carpet has to be removed to get rid of the problem. But this rarely happens and the indoor flea control kit will usually take care of it. Just read the instructions carefully and make sure you vacuum thoroughly and treat at least twice, 14 days apart. Good Luck!
