QHow to treat drain flies breeding in sump pit?
Drain flies are breeding in stagnant water in sump our sump pit. Have tried treating with DF 5000 (pouring directly into standing water). Is this method effective?
ATypically for sump pumps and pits it is good to use a foaming product which would be our invade hot spot. Foam gets into the pump and cracks and crevices where the gel is really only meant for drains in your kitchen or bathrooms.

QHow do I control drain flies in a kicthen sink and drain near a water heater?
We are trying to control drain-flies, but we are getting them from a dry pipe, as described below.
In what areas would bio-foam be used? I'm planning on using DF5000 for the sink/kitchen drains, however...I have a deep drain near my water-heater which is usually dry, but I believe this is the source of our drain flies. I'm guessing this drain eventually leads back into our sewer system and suspect the drain flies are coming into the house from this location. Would a foamer be used in this application? (The drain in question is 4" in diameter that drops straight down about 18", then does a 90-degree angle back into our sewer system - this line is usually dry.) Or, could I use DF5000 on this drain pipe too? By the way, does your company ever use/suggest the use of a flexible round brush to clean these things out?
A We would recommend Invade Bio Foam for your situation. The foam would be ideal because it has the ability to expand and come in to contact with surfaces that the gel cannot. While Invade Bio foam already contains a foaming agent, it does require a poly foamer to make the application. And yes, we do recommend scrubbing the drain with a round brush to help remove some of the decaying organic matter as this will help speed up insect elimination. Flies often aren't just breeding in drains, but can breed in any area where food, moisture or other organic matter builds up and is undisturbed. Prime areas include peeling away baseboards, machinery cracks, beverage line bundles, beverage fountain drip trays, under ice machines and voids around dishwashers, walk-in coolers and tray conveyors. You can use the foam in most of these "hot spot" areas if necessary. We also have the Invade Hotspot available. This foam product comes ready to use and does not require any special equipment.
