Kay from Potomac, Md writes

Is Eco PCO D-X Dust effective against carpenter bee larvae?

Carpenter bees have attacked my porch ceilings. I would like to squirt dust into the tunnels before I plug them up (I will use spray on the hole exteriors).

Answer:

Eco PCO D-X Dust will be great to lightly dust the openings of the holes that the carpenter bees have created. You should leave them unplugged for a 2-3 months to be sure that no new holes will occur. We recommend using a dust applicator to puff the dust in the holes. Eventually, the larvae inside the gallery will hatch (usually within 3 months), so you need to attack the nest directly. Then when the larvae do hatch, the newly emerged adult bees will fly through the dusted gallery, getting some of the dust on their wings and bodies. As the chemical is absorbed, the carpenter bees will begin to die.
