Is it ok and effective to use Q4 on Zoysia grass?

My yard was sodded three weeks ago. A lot of clover is growing up thru the grass, The grass is Zoysia. Please advise.

Answer:

No, Q4 is not for use on Zoysia Grass and if used on newly sodded Zoysia you would most likely kill it.  We do have products you can use  to remove clover from Zoysia, however, we do not recommend applying any pre or post emergents on newly sodded grass.  Depending on where you live in the country, if you are in an area that is in transition and will soon be going dormant, if you apply a post emergent herbicide you can forever damage the Zoysia grass.  It is recommended that you wait a full growing cycle before applying pre or post emergents on your grass to ensure it can handle the shock of applying an herbicide.  We recommend that you mow your grass often to suppress the clover, water it often, and wait until next early summer to treat the clover if it still exists.  At that point in time your grass would have gone through the spring growing season and should be able to handle the application of an herbicide.  To remove clover and other weeds out of Zoysia grass at this point, we recommend SpeedZone.
