Gil from San Diego, Ca writes

Is it true that bait stations should only to be filled every 2 months?

According to a local exterminator, filling bait stations too will attract more rodents from neighborhood as rodent will learn where to find food sources. The local extermintor will only place a maximum of two stations near our home. Is this the correct strategy to control the local rodent population.

Answer:

We recommend placing rodent bait stations every 15-30 feet around the home for the best control. Stations should be checked on average every 30 days, and bait should be continuously supplied as long as rodents are accepting it. We do not see any negative effects from rodents finding the bait because those that eat it will die, which is the point of using bait stations in the first place! Hopefully all the rodents in the neighborhood will find the bait stations because then you won't have any more rodents. Please let us know if we can further assist you.
