Jaclyn from Sequim, Washington writes

Is Pennington Seed Bird Basics Wild Bird Feed feed okay to give to the local ducks?

I don't want to give them breads because I know that breads are no good for them. I was curious if it would float on the pond water or if they will pick them up off the ground.

Answer:

Pennington Seed Bird Basics Wild Bird Feed is the best food for these birds: Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks, Mourning Doves, Song Sparrows, White Breasted Nuthatchs, Tufted Titmouses, Pine Siskins, Rufus-Sided Towhees, Purple Finches, American Tree Sparrows, White-throated Sparrows, Bluejays, Goldfinches, Cardinals, Chickadees, House Finches and Evening Grosbeaks. You should check with your local park to find out if you are able to feed them and what they would allow. Every area has different restrictions as their diet in the wild is usually best with no outside food. You are right, it is not recommended to feed them breads.
