It rained over 2 1/2 inches a day after applying XL 2G, will this reduce effectiveness?

I put down XL 2G at the recommended rate of 3.4 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. on Saturday. The next day we got about 2 1/2 inches of rain and more rain expected later this week. Will this much rain reduce the effectiveness of XL 2G? Should I still wait the 3 full months (per instructions) before applying the second application. This is the first time I have tried using a pre-emergent herbicide and am not familiar with the product. I hope it works.

Answer:

Per the product label, XL 2G Granules should be applied prior to a rainfall. A single rainfall of at least 1/2 inch or more is required.
