It's first of August. Ok to treat for Emerald ash borer now?

I have your fertilome tree and shrub drench which I plan on using for my green ash trees to prevent emerald ash borer problems. 1) It is the 1st of August and we are in a drought. Is now a good time to apply? If not when should I apply? 2) I noticed that you no longer recommend Fertilome drench for emerald ash borer. Is that correct?

Answer:

When using Fertilome Tree and Shrub you should treat mid-fall and again in the spring with a a soil drench. You may need to moisten the ground prior to the treatment, use the higher volume of water as recommended on the label and keep the soil moist for the following 14 days after the treatment to encourage the tree to trans-locate the product. We are not sure where you saw that we do not recommend Fertilome drench for EAB but we think it is a fine product for this pest.
