The JT Eaton Apple Bait Block Rodenticide (709-AP) features an alluring apple scent that effectively bewitches rodents’ attention in your prepared bait stations. The anticoagulant bait is specifically formulated to eradicate damaging house mice, roof rats and Norway rats. It contains an active ingredient called Diphacinone that is less harmful to non-target animals, yet one hundred percent deceiving and poisonous to rodents. For application, administer the rodenticide in and within 100 feet of man-made architectures that are constructed in a manner so as to be accessible to commensal rodent assault and/or to harboring or attaching rodent infestations. Apple Bait Block Rodenticide comes in 9 pounds. Packed in a tamper-evident resealable pail.
UPDATE: Each pail now comes with 144 of 1 oz blocks instead of 72 of 2 oz blocks. These will now fit in most bait stations. Same weight = 9 lb pail.

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:
For Rats: Apply 2 to 8 blocks (4 to 16 oz. of bait) per placement. Maintain an uninterrupted supply of fresh bait for at least 10 days.
For Mice: While wearing waterproof gloves break each 2 oz. block into 3 pieces and place 1 or 2 pieces at 8- to 12- foot intervals. Larger placements (up to 3 pieces (2 oz.) may be needed at points of very high mouse activity. Maintain an uninterrupted supply of fresh bait for at least 15 days.
Follow Up: Replace contaminated or spoiled bait immediately. Collect and dispose of all dead animals and any leftover bait properly. To prevent reinfestation, limit sources of rodent food, water, and harborages as much as possible. If reinfestation does occur, repeat treatment. Where a continuous source of infestation is present, establish permanent bait stations and replenish with fresh bait as often as needed.

Rodents eat it

My baiting routine is to place several different baits inside of a rat bait station. This is expensive, but I find that the rodents can choose which bait they prefer. Rodents like this bait. The seem to choose it over other baits placed in the same station. Im not sure how effective it is at killing the rodents, however, because I bait outside my home. I have not seen any dead rodents.

Apple bait block rodentcide

The rats can't get enough of this stuff. Yesterday found the box trap flipped open and moved 10 feet. As quickly as I put the bait out its gone. Only problem, my neighbor said she found 4 dead rats on her back yard. This stuff is amazing.

The Verdict is Still Out

I just got done with a bucket of the JT Eaton Bait Block Rodenticide - Peanut Butter which seemed to work well as the baits were continuously being consumed, to the point where I wondered if I was just providing dinner for the rodent population. So I tried this apple flavor but so far the baits are either nibbled just a little or have not been touched. I guess I probably should have stuck with the peanut butter but live and learn I guess. Maybe the mice will acquire a taste for apple but it's not looking too promising at this point.

Apple bait block

According to the manufacturer, there is a medium risk and an antidote of Vitamin K1 is available through your local vet if a dog consumed a portion of the bait. JT Eaton Apple Bait Block Rodenticide should be stored away from extreme temperatures and away from pets. It is applied in tamper resistant stations to avoid pets, wildlife and children from gaining access to the product. Most domestic animals will not consume an entire rodent. It would take them consuming multiple dead rodents that consumed the product. If your pet shows any abnormal symptoms, please contact your vet and provide the SDS.

I worry about a horrible smell.
Rodents that eat the JT Eaton Apple Bait Block Rodenticide (709-AP) will not necessarily go outside to die. There is a high possibility they will die indoors and then you will be dealing with a very foul odor for at least a few weeks. We would recommend trapping rodents indoors using snap traps or glueboards. Trapping eliminates odor problems by allowing you to dispose of the carcass.
