George from Perry Ga writes

I just sodded my yard with centipede about 4 weeks ago. What can I use to spot spray and kill crabgrass?

I do not want to harm the centipede while spot spraying the crabgrass. Do you have a recommended product I can use in my back-pack sprayer? Thanks

Answer:

It is recommended that you wait a full growing cycle before applying pre or post emergents on your grass to ensure it can handle the shock of applying an herbicide.  We recommend that you mow your grass often to suppress the clover, water it often, and wait until next early summer to treat the clover if it still exists.  At that point in time your grass would have gone through the spring growing season and should be able to handle the application of an herbicide.  You can always carefully spot treat with a glyphosate like Ranger Pro.
