A Few Tips On Outdoor Pest Control
• Weeds are a huge threat to the integrity and health of your lawn or garden, therefore you should be prepared to get rid of them quickly and efficiently without harming the other plants and grasses that are beneficial and decorative. The best way to get rid of weeds is to prevent them before they even come out of the ground through the use of what is known as a pre-emergent herbicide. These weed killers work by damaging the root system of weeds while they are still deep underground. If applied correctly before the spring, they will protect your lawn and garden all year long, and will not damage your grass, flowers or if in a garden your vegetables.
• Grubs and other burrowing insects present perhaps the greatest threat to your lawn. And it can be hard to even know whether or not you have them, so being aware of the signs of infestation is important. Brown or dying areas of grass is a good indication that there might be a grub infestation. To check for them, you should take a small sample of lawn, perhaps a few square inches. Finding one or two grubs in the sample is usually not cause for concern, but any more than that and you should look into some white grub control products.
• Ants are yet another threat to the health of your lawn. Their nests can cause raised dirt mounds that disrupt the pristine look of a well-tended lawn, and some species such as fire ants present a health threat as well. Ant control is therefore one of the best things you can do to keep your lawn beautiful and inviting. Be sure when applying ant control products that you do not let pets or children play on the lawn until the pesticides have either dried or seeped into the lawn itself. You should of course always follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully to make sure that there is no risk of exposure to harmful chemicals.
