    Q
Ready to use "moss out", but what setting for light moss? product is "Scotts edgeguard MINI" spreader
    A
Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules is to be applied at the rate of 20 lbs. per 4,000 square feet for heavy moss infestations or 20 lbs. per 5,000 square feet for lighter moss infestations. One pound of this product is equal to approximately 1 ½ cups.  If your spreader settings go from 1 to 10 (1 letting out the least and 10 letting out the most) you typically want to be around a 3 setting.  If your spreader goes from 1 to 20, you should probably be around a 6 or 7 setting.  The goal is to just run out of product when you are done walking the 1000 square feet.  One person may walk faster than someone else, so they may place It on a higher setting than someone that walks slower.

  • Asked by Marc from Vancouver, Wa
    03/21/2019
    Q
Why does the lawn need to be damp before using Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules?
Rain is expected within a few hours anyways. I don't understand why it needs to be damp when applied. It seems that it would just stick to the blades of grass and not the surface of the soil.
    A

By making sure the soil is damp before application of Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules, it will allow the granules to penetrate into the soil quicker and more effectively once you water them in after application.  Watering the product in after application will ensure the product is moved off the foliage and down into the soil.

    Q
Can this product help remove / minimize moss that grows in all the crevices on my paver walkways.
We have several lengthy paver walk ways where the moss build up around each paver. Looking to remedy.
    A
No, you should not use Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules on or too close the the paver path as the Iron in the Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules will cause staining and the product label states that it should be used on lawns ONLY. We would recommend using Bayer Advanced 2 In 1 Moss & Algae Killer RTS on pavers and/or walkways.

    Q
What do I do once all the moss is dead after treating with Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules?
Do I then get to rototill and aerate? Just brought a new home and the entire front yard is moss. There's lots of trees so the conditions are perfect for moss. I'm in the process of doing a full yard makeover except I'm not cutting down any trees.
    A

Sounds like you are on the right track!  Moss thrives in damp, shady lawns where the soil is acidic and drainage is poor, so correcting these issues are the key to preventing the moss from growing back after treating with Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules.  Once the moss is dead, be sure to look at all issues that can bring it back and correct as needed.

    Q
What is the setting for Scott handygreen ll when using Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules?
    A

Unfortunately we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo and the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their label for Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules. Due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates. You can see a short video on how to accomplish this below.

    Q
Can you apply moss out in just the areas of the lawn that have moss ?
    A

Yes, Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules can be applied to a residential lawn to control moss. Keep in mind the conditions that allow moss to grow and thrive will need to be altered to prevent it from coming back. Compact acidic soils in areas with poor drainage and lots of shade are ideal for moss to grow and spread.
