Jim from Isanti, Minnesota writes

I live in Minnesota, and it -20 here now, and I have carpenter ants.

Is there a bait or killer that will work in there cold conditions?? I have recently seen the in the morning and late evening in the kitchen. I have sprayed Raid along all the base board and mop casings. What would you suggest that I use now?

Answer:

Ants can forage at any time for food so the Carpenter Ant Kit should work great for you. If you want to make sure they are looking for food first, you can do a test by placing down a nickel sized dab of peanut butter and about an inch or two away a dime-nickel sized dab of honey or pancake syrup and see if they start going to either of them. This will indicate if they are looking for a food source. Place the baits in the kit side by side in the areas you see the ants trailing and give at least a few weeks for the entire colony to be eliminated.
