Always the Best Multi Bug Killer Available
By Bob in Jamestown NC on 06/28/2010
I've been using Malathion to control insects outdoors for many years. This product can be used on most all plants with no harm, as well as outdoor surfaces and is the most effective product I've ever used . I even spray my mulched areas, house foundation areas, bricked porch and patio, especially to control ants. If you have ant problems this is the product you want to use. Be sure to follow all directions and I wear protective gloves as the product leaves a slight oil residue and odor on skin. Use in calm weather and dilute according to directions. You may not like the slight odor this product leaves behind but it will eventually fade away but so will your bug problem! ! !

I use the product for general purpose outdoor control. I find it most effective for mosquitos. The cost of the Malathion is good as was the service from DMOPC. I will definetly order again.

Seems to be working!
By Wv in Parkersburg, West Virginia on 08/29/2012
I have problems with mosquitos and biting flies. I've sprayed twice with Malathion 57% and have noticed a decrease in both pests. This product is a residual, so it lasts a bit longer than others that are not. The only downside is the heavy chemical smell, but given the results thus far, I can live with that. I've sprayed my plants and shrubbery, and so far have noticed no ill-effects. Many thanks to you guys for your help and patience. I'll be re-ordering again.

Best Overall Multi Use Product.
By Bobkat in Jamestown, NC on 01/22/2016
I've been using this product for several decades, yes decades! Always reliable, always my first choice for outdoor insect control. Once you get pests under control stick to a scheduled maintenance routine and bugs will not be a problem. Words of advice are, apply in late evening, calm winds, wear gloves and follow all directions. I've used this product on everything from trees and shrubs to delicate flowers and turf. Only downside is product odor can be strong if using a heavy setting.

QWhen applying Malathion, what is the suggested mixture percentage per gallon of water for a fruit tree?
AMalathion 57% is typically meant for treating large areas or crop land. The label typically calls for 1 to 1.5 pints per 100 gallons of water for fruit trees which works out to be .15 to .20 ounces per gallon of water. However, for safety and proper treatment you should find your particular fruit tree on the product label for accuracy and exact mixture ratios.

QDoes malathion kill stink bug in vegtable gardens?
AMalathion 57% is specifically labeled for stinkbugs and should do a great job for you when used as directed on the product label.
QCan malathion 57% be used for whole lawns and landscaped areas? If so how would you mix per gallon of water?
AAccording to the manufacturer of Malathion 57%, you should not use the product over your entire yard. QIs malathion labeled for Mosquitos what is the best product for mosquito control around the house
AMalathion 57% is not labeled for mosquitos. One of the best products to use for mosquito control is called Talstar P. A Multi-Insecticide with bifenthrin is one of the most trusted and widely-used insecticides by pest control professionals today. The name Talstar P/Talstar One means one professional solution for everything: Talstar insecticide kills over 75 insect pests and can be used for indoor pest control, outdoor pest control, food handling areas, turf and ornamental treatments, in the yard as a yard spray to treat fleas or other yard pests, and even for termite control! Talstar has a long residual, so it keeps on killing pests for over three months after you've sprayed it. Plus, Talstar One is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and won't break down easily with rainfall. This product is not to be used in areas with edible vegetation.

QCan I put malathion on my goat pasture and how long should i keep them off before returning to graze?
AMalathion, up until a couple of months ago, was labeled for use on pastures. I now see that the manufacturer has removed this use from their label so I gave them a call. Control Solutions has told us that they do not recommend that use Malathion on the pasture at all. The manufacturer is checking on another product that may work better for your needs. We should have more information for you tomorrow.

QWill Malathion 57%control grasshoppers?
AMalthion 57% is not labeled to treat grass hoppers. You would want to use a product like Cyonara RTS that is labeled to treat grass hoppers. This product can also be used in your lawn and garden.

QCan i use malathion on my puppy?
I bought malathion (57% emulsifiable concentrate). Base on the direction for use it was written that i can use it for dogs (1 gallon water= 3 tbsp malathion). But i'm scared to use it. I just want to make sure if its safe for my pet.
AMalathion is NOT labeled for use on any animals. This product is only labled for certain insects on plants, fruits and vegetables and specifically states that it is harmful to animals. Please refer to the product label for how to use it in the proper areas only. If you are looking for a product safe to use on your pet for flea control, you could use Tengard SFR which has a very low dilution that is safe to be used on pets by either wiping it on with a towel or using it carefully as a dip.

QMalathion 57% in combination w/ Evergreen Pyrethrum?
In an earlier Answer you state that Malathion 57% is the only vegetable garden poison that you sell. When we are in harvest mode in the vegetable garden I have normally used Pyrethrum in a fogger in the late evening/dusk and we are able to pick fruits and veggies the next morning. Am I doing something wrong here? Would a blend of the two offer greater knock-down?
AThis answer you saw was probably from back when we did not carry many lawn and garden products. We now carry a full line of products that can be applied to vegetables and gardens in addition to the Malathion, including pyrethrum. It's just that the answer was from a point where we didn't carry all of those products and now we do. We apologize for the confusion. There is not a need to mix the products. Pyrethrum by itself will work great, or malathion by itself is good also....no need to mix.

QIs Malathion 57% effective against ants? Is so, at what mixture.
AMalathion 57% is not labeled for ants. We do have a wide variety of products that are labeled for ants which you can see here: Ant Control Products or by clicking on the ANT tab at the top of our homepage. If you need a specific product recommendation please tell us a little bit more about the area where you are trying to control ants and what type of ants you may be dealing with.
QWhen should I start spraying Malathion 57% for squash borers?
I see on your label that this product will rid squash borers. When would I spray the squash to prevent the infestation from starting? And do I spray under the leaves or on the base? Help!
AAccording to the Malathion 57% product label, you should start spraying when you see evidence of insect activity. It is very important to spray the entire plant including the underside of the leaves where many of these insects tend to harbor.
QDoes Malathion 57% kill cockroaches?
AMalathion 57% is not labeled for roach control. We do carry many products that are labeled for roaches. Please visit our Roach Control page to browse our roach control products. Let us know if you have any questions, we are here to help.
QWhat should I use for spider mites in Italian cypress?
Should I use malathion with or without oil? Is there something else you recommend?
APlease contact your local cooperative extension office to enquire whether or not you would benefit from using oil with the Malathion in your situation. Most of our customers use Talstar P for spider mite elimination. Talstar P is gentle to use on plants and works very well for spider mites.
QHow do I mix Malathion 57% for flea infestations on animals and carpets?
AMalathion 57% is not labeled for use indoors or for use on animals. Tengard SFR is labeled for fleas and can be used indoors and on dogs (do not use on cats). It is important to vacuum prior to the application to help draw the fleas up from the carpet so that they may come into contact with the insecticide. Tengard can also be used to control fleas in lawns, which is often the source of a flea infestation. Adding an insect growth regulator such as Martins IGR can help disrupt the fleas breeding cycle and help control new infestations of fleas for up to 7 months.
