How does Mavrik Perimeter work?
This product works by controlling pests and the yard thereby preventing them from coming into your home. Mavrik Perimeter contains the pyrethroid fluvalinate, which stops insects in their tracks.
Application : .04–0.1 fl oz(1/3– 2/3 teaspoon) per gallon of water
- For use around outside surfaces and around buildings (perimeter treatment).
- Immediate knockdown of a variety of insects including ant and mosquitoes outdoors.
- No visible residue or lingering odor.
- Dried residues are non-toxic and non-repellent to honeybees.
• Mavrik Perimeter controls insects and controls or suppresses mite pests when used at labeled rates.
• Mavrik Perimeter works primarily through contact action, good spray coverage is necessary. Treat when pests are immature or at a susceptible stage and populations are manageable, before damage occurs. Repeat applications as needed, according to the specific use directions given on the product label.
• Residues of Mavrik Perimeter can continue to control certain insect pests for a week or longer. Growth dilution, climatic variables, and pest habits determine retreatment needs.
• Dilute Mavrik Perimeter in sufficient water to give thorough spray coverage. For best results under varying conditions, a range of use rates is recommended for most uses. Select the higher rates when pest pressure or damage potential is severe. The lower rates often give acceptable economic results. Buffer spray water to pH 5-7, if necessary.

Great Mosquito Barrier Spray
By Ryan in Minnesota on 08/09/2013
I use this product in my professional mosquito control business in Minnesota. Provides weeks of control and it works great! I use a gas powered blower but a backpack sprayer will work fine. Also use of an IGR will extend the control period.

I purchased four bottles of Mavrik. I sent them to my brother in law in Egypt because he owns bee farm. He says he loves it and he even shared some with his friends.

QCan Mavrik Perimeter be used to control small hive beetles in honey bee hives? Varroa mites?
If so, how should it be applied? Any side affects? Is it similar to Mavrik Aquaflow?
AThe most commonly purchased product for hive beetle control is the Maxforce FC Roach Bait stations. These stations are purchased by honey bee farmers and seem to be very effective. We have not had any information on anyone using the Mavrik Perimeter for varroa mites. We recommend calling the Mavrik manufacturer, Zoecon for more information 800-934-3532

QPlease tell me the difference in Mavrik Perimeter and Mavrik Aquaflow
I will be using the insecticide to spray roses. I usually mix in a 3 gallon sprayer.
AMavrik Aquaflow has been discontinued by the manufacturer and replaced with the Mavrik Perimeter. They both have the same amount of the active ingredient in them. Mavrik Perimeter is for commercial use on outdoor plants in ornamental plantings, plantscapes (including trees and shrubs, roses, flowerbeds, and gardens) and for perimeter treatment around buildings and outside surfaces.

QDo your products contain substances that contribute to bee colony collapse?
Do any of your products contain neonicotinoids and coumaphos, or any other chemicals known to inhibit the ability of bees in any way, to pollinate crops? I am referring to all your products but am presently concerned about TALSTAR. Please do not answer me by saying "no substantive proof exists linking bee deaths to....." etc. Thank you for your attention to my question.
AWe do carry many products that fall into the neonicotinoids class of insecticides and a few products that would fall into the coumaphos class of insecticides. Talstar is not one of them. Talstar falls into the pyrethroid class of insetcicides. It is still very important not to apply Talstar P to areas where bees are activiely foraging as the product is non-selective and will kill bees. We also carry Mavrik Perimeter which after it has dried is non toxic to bees and may be an option for folks that have a concern about bee colony collapse. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I am always happy to help.

QWould Mavrik Perimeter kill spider mites on my muscadine grapes?
Would it be safe to spray on grapes and vines for control of spider mites and ants? Would not harm bees.
AMavrick is not labeled to be applied to edible vegetation. We would recommend using a product like Bonide Fruit Tree Spray. Which will treat mites on grapes.
QI suspect spider mites, what do you recommend?
I have 2 Alberta Spruce that have turned brown and lost needles. I suspect spider mites, what do you recommend?
ATalstar P works well for both the mature and the immature spider mites. Talstar P provides optimal spider mite control when applied during spring to mid-summer. Higher application rates and/or more frequent treatments may be required for acceptable spider mite control during mid- to late-summer. The addition of a surfactant or horticultural oil may increase the effectiveness of Talstar. Talstar applications may be rotated with those of other products that have different modes of action in control programs that are designed to manage resistance by twospotted spider mites. Consult your local Cooperative Extension Service for resistance management recommendations in your region.

QWill Mavrik Perimeter control crane fly larvae?
Is Mavrik Perimeter effective in eliminating crane fly larvae in lawns? I am looking for an insecticide that is safe for honey bees, but will kill crane fly larvae. Once applied, how long does Mavrik last? Thank you.
A Mavrik Perimeter is not labeled for crane flies. It is also not labeled for a broadcast treatment across your lawn. It is mainly used for use around ornamentals and the perimeter of your home. A granule insecticide, such as Talstar Xtra, would be a good option for you to use. It is labeled for crane fly larvae and because of how and where you are using it, bees should not be affected. Be sure not to apply this product when bees are not actively foraging, which would be during the day. This product does need to be watered in to activate.
