Maxforce Complete Granular Bait

Maxforce Complete Granular Insect Bait is a new bait from Maxforce that contains hydramethylnon and treats a wide variety of crawling insect pests such as ants, silverfish and roaches. Maxforce complete granules contain a unique formula with a mixture of proteins, simple sugars, fats and complex carbohydrates in a food-based granular structure that is irresistible to insects. The great combo of food-based ingredients accommodates the changing food preferences of ant colonies and other insects, delivering superior bait acceptance and control throughout the year!

GENERAL INFORMATION

Maxforce Complete Brand Granular Insect Bait is a ready-to-use product for use indoors and outdoors and around buildings, on lawns, and other non-crop areas* such as residential areas, the non-food/non-feed areas of institutional and commercial establishments including warehouses, restaurants, food processing plants, supermarkets, hospitals, nursing homes, motels, hotels, apartment buildings, schools, laboratories, computer facilities, pet shops, zoos, sewers, highway rights-of-way and medians, traffic islands, utility rights-of-way (including power lines, pipelines, aqueducts) managed turf areas (non-crop*) (including school yards, playgrounds, athletic fields, amusement parks, picnic areas, recreation areas, office parks, industrial grounds, airports, shopping centers, public parks, arboretums, public gardens, monument sites, cemeteries and mausoleums, golf courses, race tracks, fairgrounds, outdoor amphitheaters, sod farms, and ornamental nurseries).

* The use of this product on pasture and rangeland is unlawful.

* Do not graze or feed lawn or sod clippings to livestock.

Maxforce Complete Brand Granular Insect Bait contains a special blend of foods, combined with the delayed-action stomach poison, hydramethylnon. The delayed action of the active ingredient allows foraging ants to bring the bait back to the nest so that the entire colony, including the queen, is destroyed. When properly used, this bait will control many of the following insects, including ants, cockroaches, crickets, and silverfish before they can enter a structure. Do not apply other insecticides (such as aerosols, sprays, etc.) on top of or in close proximity to Maxforce Complete Brand Granular Insect Bait, as it will reduce the effectiveness. Expect to see fewer insects within a week.

* Do not use on other non-crop areas in California.

5 of 5 stars  Maxforce bait
By Ethan in Nottingham, PA on 06/15/2011

The MaxForce is working way beyond my expectations. I sprinkle the area with this bait and in 3 days the nest is DEAD. I walk around my acre yard and when I find any nest I sprinkle it. The last two years I had a major infestation of these pavement ants all over my yard. I had a very large section about 60 feet long by 20 feet wide with ant nests all over to a point I did not have grass growing anymore. This bait is doing the trick and I now have to really look for any nests. If you have any doubts try this stuff and I think you will be surprised on how well it words. Great Stuff!! EASY TO USE

This is a product i will Highly recommend to anyone, very effective and price economical. The fine Granular was the first i tried, it did wonders but i ran out of it this summer. As anyone ever tried using Maxforce Granular Bait in treating Bedbugs? It did worked for me. When i first had bedbug infestation last year, i used Maxforce Granular which i had bought for roaches and it did the magic. These products saved me $$$.

1 of 5 stars  Did not work for me
By in Bronx, NY on 06/14/2013
    Verified Purchase

I've read the reviews and most are positive, however this did not work for me. Maxforce with the yellow or green label worked best for me. I've been using maxforce for about 8 years and have had no complaints until I was forced to try this "Maxforce Complete" version. I saw roaches in my kitchen 2 months after putting down this version of maxforce. When I use Maxforce with the green label or yellow label I see absolutely no roaches and I apply it about every 10 months. Unfortunately the manufacturer has decided to discontinue the best version of maxforce with the yellow label and green label. This product just did not work for me the way the other maxforce product worked. Did not like this at all.

5 of 5 stars  Great stuff! Worth its weight in gold.
By Emily in Baltimore, MD on 08/19/2011
    Verified Purchase

This stuff is great, great, great. After spreading pine bark mulch in my city backyard, I learned that I had created an awesome roach attraction. Lovely. I went out one night and giant (2") roaches were lumbering around all over my garden, and what's worse, they appeared to be mating. After looking at different products online, I ordered two bottles of this bait. Sprinkled one liberally over my mulch and in a perimeter around the house. After some heavy rains, I added some more about a week later. It's now about 2 weeks since application. Roaches? GONE. I noticed their numbers dwindle somewhat after the first application. Had I been more patient, maybe that would have been enough. But two definitely did the trick. I'll always keep this stuff in stock and once again feel comfortable sitting outside at night...No longer paranoid and looking for those giant suckers!

1 of 5 stars  Not for Thief ants
By Anonymous in Miami, FL on 12/01/2011
    Verified Purchase

The info said it was good bait for Thief ants. Really? How would a tiny Thief ant bite into a granule that is 5 times its size? These granules are HUGE compared to the size of these ants. Proof? I tried it. They totally ignored it, even when I mixed it with honey. But they readily took to a drop of some sweet ginger sauce. You can't even crush these granules to make something more the size of sugar. This has been a total waste of my money.

5 of 5 stars  Life saver! (not for the ants)
By Greg in Duarte, CA on 07/14/2014

I don't generally leave reviews, least of all for ant baits, but I felt I had to for this. We bought a house last winter, and as it got closer to summer and the weather started heating up, the ants started multiplying. Pretty soon we were under attack. They were everywhere, inside the house and out. We tried all the sprays and syrup poisons, but it just seemed to make the problem worse. Then I bought a container of this stuff and sprinkled it outside wherever I saw lines of ants. I checked it out 12 hours later, and it didn't seem like anything was happening. I couldn't even tell if the ants were taking it. Then 24 hours later... all of the ants were gone! It's been a month, now, and we went from spraying gallons of ant poison all over the place for months and still having ants on every surface of our entire house, to just sprinkling a bit of these granules in key places and just one day later, not seeing a single ant anywhere. This stuff is amazing and I highly recommend it.

We were told about this product several years ago by a kind exerminator. Until recently we could purchase it locally but the company went out of business, that is when I checked the computer for sources, we have told many people about the product, it works so well and is easy to use. We place it near the foundation of the house outside going around the foundation. We seldom ever see an insect after using it. If we have severe rain which is rare in our area we again put down the product. I highly recommened it!

5 of 5 stars  BUY THIS FOR ANTS!!
By Mike in Pineville, La. on 03/06/2012
    Verified Purchase

I was excited when my bait came in, ready to retaliate upon the pesky creatures that had been ransacking my home for weeks. I had already scoped out two well traveled trails they were currently using on the porch, poured two big piles (bout 1/4cup) next to post. The next morning the bait was nearly gone, the trails were literally 2 inches wide with ants going, packing off granules to their humble abode. I went ahead and rebaited just to do it and by the next day that pile was almost gone and the trail had diminished to only just a mere, few ants. No more waking up finding ants in kitchen or bathroom when weather gets cool or when it rains. All in all this stuff rocks. Thanks Do My Own Pest Control!!!

5 of 5 stars  Seems to have worked perfectly!
By Peter in Toledo OH on 09/01/2011
    Verified Purchase

I've used it a couple of times for ants now. First time, we were getting the tiny ones in the house, we were told they were thief ants. Nothing from the hardware store would make a difference with them. I put this stuff inside a few stations around the areas we kept seeing them, it wasn't three days later and they were nowhere to be found. Second time I used them on another ant colony, this time it was in a tree stump that was partially buried in the back yard. I was attempting to dig it out when it nearly blew up with ants...the kind that bite and leave nasty hives. They were quite literally everywhere. I want no part of that, so I sprinkled this stuff all around the area as directed. A week later, I broke apart the stump and didn't find a single live ant. I've tried a number of products from the local hardware store with mixed results, all of them seem to only have a temporary effect. This stuff has had a very permanent one. It's more expensive than anything in the store, but in my opinion...worth every penny.

QWhat will kill leaf cutter ants?
These have migrated from Texas to west central Louisiana and the area for mounds is very large, 500 sq ft. We saw today, the ants carrying red bud flowers and entering a hole 100' from their mound. We need help and in a hurry.

ALeaf cutter ants can be a difficult pest to get rid of. The colonies are large and the ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants. According to several university websites, Maxforce Complete Granules containing hydramethlynon are some what effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times.  DeltaGard granules is one of the only products actually labeled for leaf cutter ants. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in. Again, it may take several treatments to get the desired results. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations for products that have worked for other people in your region.

QMaxforce Fine Granule?
I used to use MF Fine Granule with great effect on Argentne ants. Is Fine Granule still available, and is this new version small enough granules to work well on Argentine ants?

AThe Maxforce Complete has replaced the previous versions of the Maxforce granules that covers a wider range of ants, including argentine, as well as other insects, and is a mixture of both fine and medium sized granules. You will get the same control with these as you did with the fine which is no longer available.

QHow safe is Maxforce Complete Granular Bait when used around cats and dogs?
We just moved into a house in south fl which has a 2.5 acre yard overcome by ants. They are everywhere. We built a 35 x35 enclosure to allow our cats and dogs out. A couple of cats prefer to be out there 24/7. How safe is this product for my cats and dogs if I sprinkle it on the deck and in the yard they live in? I don't want anything remotely dangerous to them. If this is not the right product, can you suggest another?

A Maxforce Complete Granular Bait is safe for pets when applied as directed. It is such a small amount of active ingredient it should not harm pets. You may also want to try bait stations. Maxforce Complete Brand Granular Insect Bait may be sprinkled around structures and/or applied to refillable/serviceable bait stations as outlined below. Sprinkle this product evenly in a 1-2 foot wide band adjacent to the structure at a rate of 0.5 oz (one tablespoon) of bait per 25 linear feet. NOTE: Around structures the total application should not exceed 4-8 oz per 200-400 linear feet (or 0.5 oz per 25 linear feet). A typical application would be 4-8 oz adjacent to an average sized home of 200-400 linear feet. Be sure to treat areas such as porches, patios, driveways, sidewalks, flower gardens, landscape timbers and around trees, wood piles, air conditioning units and garbage receptacles.

QDoes rain affect Maxforce Complete Granular Bait ? Should I put more after days of rain?

ARain can cause the Maxforce Complete Granular Bait to wash away or get moldy which makes it less attractive. We do recommend re-applying the bait after heavy rains.

QWill this kill birds? (I don't want to kill birds)
I have noticed birds picking around in my lawn where I sprinkled this stuff and I really do not want to harm them. Will this kill birds or harm them?

A Maxforce Complete Granular Bait is only large enough to kill small insects, it could still harm birds. If they consume large amounts, or are especially sensitive. We recommend to try and use the products in areas the birds could not get to.

QI have many ant hills all over my grass, how do I get rid of them?

AWe recommend that you try an ant bait granule that the ants would actually pick up and take down into the mound instead of spraying. Maxforce Complete Granular Bait would be a great choice for most ant species. While ant baits will work for most ant species there are a couple of ant species that do not readily take bait. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and ask if they can help you identify the ants on your property.

QHow do I get rid of ants in rock bed next to house? I've tried Talstar P and got rid of roaches not ants.
Regular small ants spray not penetrating under rocks

A

If you are able to move the rock bed to access the soil underneath, that will provide you the best results. Talstar P works as a repellent but does not work to kill off the colony. Using Termidor SC as a perimeter spray 1ft up and 1ft out from the structure will provide you with 6 month ant control. But with out being able to access the dirt area under the rocks, you might not get full results.

Using Maxforce Complete Granular Bait sprinkling as a bad around the structure or in bait plate stations will help as well.

Maxforce Complete Brand Granular Bait may be sprinkled around structures and/or applied to refillable/serviceable bait stations as outlined below. Sprinkle this product evenly in a 1-2 foot wide band adjacent to the structure at a rate of 0.5 oz (one tablespoon) of bait per 25 linear feet. QI'm looking for a good granular ant killer to broadcast in the yard.
I treat the ant hills in the yard and more just pop up. They're not in the house but I find dead ones under the house where I sprayed Cyper WP.

AMaxforce Complete Granular Bait is a very good granular product for ants. It will treat various types of ants including, Acrobat, Argentine, Big Headed, Carpenter, Cornfield, Field, imported and native Fire Ants, Ghost, Harvester, Odorous House Pavement, Pharaoh, and Thief Ants. This bait can be used inside refillable bait stations and/or sprinkled around the structure. Around structures the total application should not exceed 4-8 oz per 200-400 linear feet (or 0.5 oz per 25 linear feet). A typical application would be 4-8 oz adjacent to an average sized home of 200-400 linear feet. Be sure to treat areas such as porches, patios, driveways, sidewalks, flower gardens, landscape timbers and around trees, wood piles, air conditioning units and garbage receptacles. Be sure to put the bait in areas where you have not sprayed so that it does not become contaminated.

QUsed Maxforce, ants now walking AROUND bait stations. Now what?
They look like Argentine ants, your typical small brown trailing ants. I put the newly filled bait stations in the trails as directed. The ants checked them out, took a few of the bait pieces, then simply walked over, then around the stations. Am I stuck with four pounds of this stuff that they won't eat? I need help.

AAnts are very fickle. It may be that they are just not foraging right now. To test if they are, place a potato chip in the ant trail to see if they take it. Maxforce Complete granular bait is specifically designed for Argentine ants among many other pest.

I had it spayed professionally the last 2 seasons with "Demand" but this seems only to last a while and then they are back. I don't know where they come from, but they bite or pinch the kids when they get on them. What do you recommend for them? Should I keep using Demand or something else?

AWe recommend that you use an ant bait granule such as Maxforce Complete Ant Bait in your yard surrounding the pool to help control the ants before they try to go for a swim. Demand is a great product but it will only kill the ants that come into direct contact with treated areas leaving the ants back at the nest to continue to cause issues. The best approach would be to use the bait granules in the yard and to spray around the pool (at least 10 ft from the pool) with the Demand CS. This two pronged ant control program would give faster results that would last longer than spraying alone.

QDo you have any Maxforce products that still use 1% Hydramethylnon?
I have noticed that Maxforce Fire Ant Killer Granular bait no longer uses Hydramethylnon, but instead uses Fipronil. I have tried it, and it hasn't killed the ant colonies in my yard. Do you have any Maxforce products that still use 1% Hydramethylnon?

AYes, there is a Maxforce Complete Granular Bait that is labeled for Fire Ants as well as all other types of ants and other insects.  This product was such a good seller that Maxforce stopped producing the specific fire ant brand.  It has the same 1% Hydramethylnon as the old Maxforce Fire Ant Bait had.
