    Q
My dog chewed up a MaxForce FC Ant Bait Station. Will my dog get sick?
    A
Due to the very small amount of product in the station, there would most likely be no effect to your dog. Just to be safe, you may want to contact your veterinarian. We have linked the product label and the MSDS in our answer because your veterinarian may need to see these documents. In the future, when using MaxForce FC Ant Bait Stations be sure to place them out of reach of all pets and children as directed on the product label.

    Q
How often to replace Maxforce Ant Bait stations?
I do not know what to look for in bait traps to see if they are used up? I did not think instructions were clear as to how many to use and how often to replace. I have a large tree that had many carpenter ants. I put quite a few bait traps on the tree but today I did see several ants again. I reread information on labels but did not get my questions answered
    A
The Maxforce FC Ant Bait stations are made so that you can see the bait faintly through the top plastic red covering.  The stations should only be replaced if the bait inside is gone.  Typically the stations are left out for at least 30 days or as long as needed until the bait is gone.  Baiting is not an overnight process.  Depending on colony size, baiting can take a few days to 3 to 4 weeks to kill an entire ant colony.

    Q
How do I use Maxforce Ant Killer Bait Stations effectively?
Received a shipment of MaxForce Ant Killer Bait Stations. Placed stations on and near ant trails. Ants have shown absolutely no interest in any of the stations. They continue to by-pass the stations. What am I doing wrong? Do stations have to be activated in some manner? Do the stations have to be opened up in some manner?
    A
You are probably not doing anything wrong, but one thing to consider is that ants are very finicky eaters.  They are either in the mood for protein/fats or sugar depending on what the colony needs.  Maxforce FC Ant Stations are more of a protein/fat type of bait.  The ants are probably looking for more of a sugar type bait right now.  On our product description we do recommend using the stations along with the Maxforce FC Ant Bait Gel which is a sugar based bait.  This way you have both to offer if they are in the mood for one over the other.  If you would like to test this theory, you can place a spoonful of jelly on a piece of tin foil or paper next to one of the Maxforce FC Ant Stations.  If they eat the jelly and not the station bait then they are in the mood for sugar, not protein.

    Q
How long does one bait trap last? How can we tell when we need to replace it?
We just put out three traps, and I was getting ready to order some more. I didn't know whether I should wait till later if the ones we put down were good for a while. Please advise.
    A
Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations will be good for a period of one year once the bag to the stations has been opened. Once the stations have been used, they should be replaced every few months because they may become contaminated by things in the home such as cleaners, perfumes, cigarette smoke and the like.

  • Asked by Bob from South Florida

    Q
I have whitefooted ants. What bait would work best?
    A
Baits do not normally work on White-Footed Ants so alternative methods will be needed. You will need to treat the outside of the home with a residual product like Talstar P and treat any mounds you see in the yard as well. Spray the Talstar around window and door frames, any areas where pipes enter the home, and around the foundation 3 feet up and 3-5 feet out on ground. Please review our detailed article on How to Get Rid of White Footed Ants for more information on eliminating them from your home.

    Q
Can Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations be used outdoors?
    A
Bait stations work best indoors. However, placing stations out around where you see active trailing, around their nests, or on a covered porch area would be good locations for outdoors. A great ant bait to use outside would be Advance 375A.

  • Asked by Dan from Holland, Michigan
    04/02/2020
    Q
When do you put out the Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations? Before ants arrive in spring or only when you see them in your house?
We usually see ants around May 1. Do we put out the bait stations a week or two before that date or only when we see them?
    A

Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations are typically used when you start seeing activity of ants in the home, to provide them with a food source to take back to the rest of the colony. However many customers prefer to leave the stations out all the time, or place them around before activity is noticed for the season to have them ready for any that may find their way in. Ideally you would want to use a residual spray around the foundation of the home on the outside to help prevent any ants from ever making their way in the home. A product like Temprid FX would be great for that application and is safe for use indoors along baseboards and crevices as well if needed, and provides a slight transfer effect through the colony by touch, similar to the way the ant bait is transferred.

    Q
What is stronger, the Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations, gel, or granular for ants?
    A

Which product is most successful will depend on the food source that the ants are seeking when you are baiting. Using a combination of products will help get the ant infestation under control much more quickly than using any one product alone. You should check the bait placements once a week and replenish as needed until ant activity has ceased. They are equally as effective if used as directed on the product label. For information on treatig ants, please read our article (includes videos) on How to Get Rid of Ants for a successful eradication program.

    Q
Can Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations be used outdoors where they would not be covered and would be exposed to rain? I would like to place them on a path near to runner beans.
There is no covered place nearby and if protection from rain is needed I'm not clear how to rig this up without making it less likely that the ants would discover the stations.
    A

Maxforce FC Ant Bait Stations would not hold up outside in the rain very well. We would recommend using Ant No More Bait Stations or the InTice Border Patrol System that would stake into to ground and be protected from weather. These stations allow you to use liquid ant bait, gel bait or granule bait
