Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait Granular is for the control of imported fire ants. Fire ant mounds can go as deep as 15 feet below the surface, and have numerous queens. Drenching the mound with an insecticide in most cases will not be sufficient to eradicate the colony. Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait is meant for the worker ants to carry the product back to the colony and feed it to the other ants. Its delayed-action kill ensures that the fire ant bait is spread throughout the colony before it takes effect, eliminating the infestation.

USE INSTRUCTIONS:
Broadcast Treatment: Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait can applied in a broadcast treatment to turfgrass to control existing active imported fire ant populations. We recommend using an Earthway spreader for broadcasting the bait uniformly over lawn areas. The bait should be applied when fire ants are actively looking for food, typically in the morning or evening. Do not apply the bait immediately after irrigation or rain. Fire ants will begin to die from a proper treatment within 14 days. Do not reapply for 3-6 weeks. Do not exceed 4 applications per year.
Mound Treatment: Shake the granules uniformly around the mound, but do not disturb the mound. Broadcast the granules in a circle about 4 to 5 feet in diameter with the mound being in the center of the circle. Apply when ants are actively looking for food, typically in the morning or evening. Do not apply the bait immediately after irrigation or rain. Fire ants will begin to die from a proper treatment within 14 days. Do not reapply for 3-6 weeks. Do not exceed 4 applications per year.

A secret about using Maxforce!
By Sterling on November 18, 2011
Verified PurchaseAnts are smart! The secret to using Maxforce is to NEVER touch the bait with your hands. We used to scoop out a handful & spread generously until a certified pest control man told us to lightly sprinkle the bait & never touch it with human hands. Voila! Total success! Human touch on the bait turns ants away. Also, if used too generously ants 'know' it's not 'found food' but poison! Don't laugh; its what the pest control man said! So we did as he said & have NO FIRE ANTS! Lasts longer too. One word of caution: remember that your neighbors & friends that don't use Maxforce the correct way probably still have ants. I keep forgetting that & tend to get bitten when I go visiting because I've gotten so used to never worrying about fire ants anymore at our home. Great product from an honest company with commendable fast service.

Tougher and smarter than normal ants
By Stalemate on June 17, 2011
Verified PurchaseI guess my ants are tough smart hombres. I used this around some mounds and even noticed some (very few) ants pick the bait up. A short while later the ants were moving their nest. My guess is that they test this stuff in the lab with the ants in a glass case and no other source of food and no escape routes. In general I have to say that my experience with fire ant baits is that the ants move but you do not kill off the queen. My best luck has been with Deltamethrin which does not kill the nest but makes life uncomfortable by killing any unlucky enough to walk in it and they move. It also acts as a killer/barrier for most insects.

Works great
By Julie on April 24, 2011
Verified PurchaseI had several mounds before ordering this product, so I applied it right away. I have not seen a fire ant since. I also have a very small dog, and he was not affected the bait. So it is pet safe as the product states

MAXFORCE FIRE ANT BAIT
By Henry on July 23, 2011
Verified PurchaseI recently purchased and tried Maxforce Fire ant Controlled. I followed the directions on the container, and I have no more ants . I located and treated the beds in the yard. P.S. I don't know if it matters, but I waited to apply until a dry spell. It set for 5 days without rain. I would reccommend this product to remove fire ants.

Maxforce Fire Ant Bait
By Beverly on September 5, 2011
Verified Purchasethis is the best product for fire ants we have used. The price is great from Do My Own Pest Control, actually cheaper than any company in my town., and we have many here where I live. I received the product in perfect condition, and very pleased with the shipping.
Not bait, but fire ant food . . . . . . .
By Tom on April 16, 2013
Verified PurchaseMaxforce FC Fire Ant Bait is worthless in eradicating fire ant mounds. Having used Amdro to effectively control fire ants in my low country South Carolina lawn for years, I changed to Maxforce and the fire ants seem to love it. The mounds only seem to get larger, despite repeated applications, over the past month.

QIs the Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait safe to use around dogs?
AThe Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait is a safe product to use around pets when applied correctly. Of course you want to keep the container with all of the product in it out of reach of children and pets as you would any other pest control or cleaning product. This product is meant to be applied in small quantities by either broadcasting it in your yard or placing a small amount around existing ant mounds. This quantity is not enough for a pet to get sick, it is only enough to effect small ants. Many professional pest control companies use this product often on their pest control accounts with children and pets.

QI think I have fire ants, but I am not sure. Will Maxforce FC Fire Ant Bait work on other ants?
Maxforce Hydramethylnon fire ant killer has worked well in the past. It has been discontinued and this is its replacement. Does the new product have the same spectrum of activity against various ants?
AMaxforce FC Fire Ant Bait is only labeled for the red imported fire ant. While other ants may take the bait, this product was either not tested for them or the success rate was not high enough for the manufacturer to include them on the label. We do have a product called Maxforce Complete Granular Bait that is labeled for most ants including fire ants and it contains hydramethylnon which has worked well for you in the past.
