Maxforce Granular Fly Bait
  • Alternate Image 1

For a lower cost alternative, try Bonanza Fly Bait. Bonanza contains the same amount of active ingredient (imidacloprid 0.5%) as Maxforce Fly Bait!

Maxforce granular fly bait kills flies in about 60 seconds, and keeps controlling them for up to 30 days. This extremely effective bait has an irresistible aroma and seductive pheromone that lures unsuspecting flies to their death.

DESCRIPTION: Maxforce granular fly bait kills flies in about 60 seconds, and keeps controlling them for up to 30 days. This extremely effective bait has an irresistible aroma and seductive pheromone that lures unsuspecting flies to their death.

New Maxforce Granular Fly Bait contains two powerful attractants combined with imidacloprid, a new active ingredient for the control of flies that is non-repellent and works quickly — even against flies resistant to OP and carbamate insecticides.

Applied as a broadcast application, placed in bait stations, or dissolved in water and paint on surfaces, Maxforce Granular Fly Bait controls flies for up to 30 days. And with just 0.5% active and low toxicity to non-target animals, Maxforce Granular Fly Bait also contains Bitrex® bittering agent to help prevent accidental ingestion by children and pets.

Tips for Use:

* Time your applications to begin at the start of season, before fly populations reach their peak.
* Avoid cool or windy locations because flies prefer warm sites for resting.
* Scatter application: Scatter the bait directly form the container onto dry level surfaces so that the individual granules lie near each other without forming small piles.
* Bait stations: Place Granular Fly Bait in any bait stations. Secure bait stations at least 4 feet above the ground. Use 1 bait station to cover approximately 250 square feet. Add up to 1.6 ounces of bait per station. (Bait stations should be inaccessible to food producing animals, children and pets.)
* Paint-on application: Mix 1.5 ounces of bait with 1 fl oz. warm water (3 lbs. bait in 1 quart of water) and stir thoroughly. Let stand for about 15 minutes until a paste consistency suitable for painting has formed. Apply paste with a brush to surfaces where flies rest, avoiding surfaces that are dusty.

Haven't been using the fly bait very long, but it seems to be doing the job well. Also works as ant control. The transaction with Domyownpestcontrol was great. Fast shipping and a fair price.

4 of 5 stars  Worth the Money
By Jim in Oregon on 09/13/2013

We live in a residential area and have three dogs. We love to bbq during the summer, but the flys got to be unbearable by mid to late summer. No matter how clean we kept the yard the problem never went away. We purchased a few of the bag type fly traps, which worked but then our yard smelled like dead animals. After receiving our maxforce I made up several bait stations and placed them around the yard. It has greatly reduced the number of fly's, and does kill them within a matter of seconds after they land on it. Years ago I used a product called golden malrin, back then this was the best fly bait around. It would draw the flys in and kill very fast. Before buying the maxforce I purchased a can of the golden malrin, which used to be tan in color but now if blue. The manufacturer said they didn't change the formula, but it is no longer affective, and I consider it to be a waste of money. I have not found anything as affective as Maxforce.

5 of 5 stars  Near instant results!
By Jim in Raleigh, NC on 07/26/2013

I have a restaurant and had tried EVERYTHING to deal with the flies. I put this stuff out as a scatter bait and in one bait station by the dumpsters. Amazing! We went from overwhelmed with flies to hardly any from one day to the next. The ground around my dumpsters was covered in dead flys the day after I put this out! I wish I'd found it sooner.

1 of 5 stars  Don't Waste Your Money!
By Mike in Kuna, Idaho on 08/03/2016
    Verified Purchase

This product was the single biggest waste of money I have every seen. I can't find one good thing to say for it. Fly's completely ignore it. In fact, it works more like a repellent. The flies won't go near it. I have it in bait stations, I have scattered it and even put in pie tins on the ground. This stuff is a joke. If the positive reviews are real then they must have received the "magic" batch. If there was any possible I would return this crap and get my money back. Don't waste your money or your time. What I really wish I had know before I wasted my money on it was the simple fact that it doesn't work. I have to rate this junk with a star. I really can't even give it one start, but in order to write this review and possibly save someone else from a similar fate, I had to give it one star. What a joke...

1 of 5 stars  Maxfarce. Buy the $10 sample first
By Kelly in Datil, New Mexico on 08/13/2015

After inquiring about the availability of a small sample of "Maxfarce", I purchased a 2 oz. envelope for under $10. Since it is called "granular" fly bait, I assumed that I could use as is, but was a little disappointed that nothing was mentioned other than mixing with water and spraying, which I did. After using "Golden Malrin" at a milk processing plant back in the 1970's, and seeing hundreds of dead flies right there on the pile of granules, I was hoping for the same results. Wrong!! I sprayed some of it in a shallow cardboard box and other areas where I see flies, (besides on me and my three dogs) but only one dead fly has appeared in four days of them pestering us the same as before. As far as attracting them, I see no indication of that, and can't even detect any odor that would. I think the positve reviews are a lie. I tried the Golden Malrin at home back in 1990's and it didn't work anymore either. Ripped off once again. My spelling it Maxfarce is no typo.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
Please note that Maxforce and Golden Malrin only work for certain species of flies. Please take a few moments to read over our fly control guide to learn more about effectively controlling flies: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/fly-identification-guide-a-507.html

4 of 5 stars  Great product. A bit misleading though.
By Stephanie in Boynton Beach, FL on 04/12/2014

This bait is great. It takes care of flies quickly and if you use it in conjunction with a few other fly control methods, you can pretty much eradicate your pest problem. It works well on our 70 acre horse farm. My only quibble is buying the 40 lb. pail. It states it's a pail, but I've ordered it twice now and it's not a pail. It comes bagged up in a box. You can't leave it like that. You have to buy something to seal it up in, otherwise it'll never last enough to use it all. Not very nice when you pay over $200 for it.

1 of 5 stars  Didn't work at all for my flies
    By in Seattle on 09/03/2013
    Verified Purchase

I was really looking forward to trying out this fly bait. I have a neighbor who has some animals and the flies are always on my property too. I put out the bait in various areas, on the ground, in trays, etc. After a couple of days of not seeing one fly touch it, I added some water to some of what I had put out. I then saw one or two flies but almost nothing. In the testing I've done, the stuff seems more of a fly repellant than an attractant. Flies would be all around the areas where I put it but they clearly had no interest in it. Perhaps the pesticide in it would have killed them if they got near it. I added some waste from my cat's litter pan to one test tray and then a few flies seemed interested and hovered around but not as many as would have gone to the waste my itself. I was really disappointed in my experience with this product and unfortunately wasted my money. Maybe it works on certain flies and not others.

I'm a professional & I use this bait in the FBS-1 bait station. Results have been very good in fly laden accounts, dairies, horse barns, etc. Just be sure to clean the dead flies out of the bait stations (about every 2 weeks) so more flies can be exposed to the bait. Good price in a convenient carrying pail. We love this site they beat our distributors a lot of the time on price of certain products & stock of overall products available.

By Mary in Payson, AZ on 08/30/2012

I have been using Maxforce for two years, after several years of buying at least $100 in fly bags every summer. It works and works well, even with my house having horse corrals on two sides of the property. My one suggestion is to start early in the spring - every fly you kill then won't have 10,000 little flys.

QCan Maxforce Granular Fly Bait kill my dog if he eats it??
Will my dog eat it if left out??

AMaxforce Fly product can be dangerous for any animal if they eat enough of it. You can use the bait in a tamper resistant station to avoid having non-target animals consume the bait.

QWhat is the shelf life of Maxforce Granular Fly Bait?
I only have a fly problem during summer. Will it last a year or more in the bucket?

AThe Maxforce Granular Fly Bait has a shelf life of 2 years unopened.  Once it is opened, it will last about a year as long as you keep the lid on securely when not in use.  You could expect to get two summers of treatment out of one bucket.

QCan you tell me how long a 5 lb pail of Maxforce Granular Fly Bait will last using 6 stations?

AHow long the product will last is completely dependent on the number of flies visiting the stations. The more flies you have the faster the bait will be consumed.

QHow do I need to use the Maxforce fly granules around my house?
How do I need to use the Maxforce fly granules around my house? We have two small children and two outside animals, and I'm concerned about spreading the granules around outside.

AWe would recommend placing the fly bait inside our tamper proof fly bait stations.  The stations require a key to open them and safely house the bait and protect it from children and pets.  Only the flies can get into the stations.

QIs Maxforce fly bait effective for horse flies, the very large flies commonly found on horses?
this is regarded as a bait, can it be made into a liquid solution and sprayed directly on the horse?

AMaxforce fly bait is labeled for horse flies but when used around barns or horses it should only be used in fly bait stations and not placed where horses or other livestock can access the bait.  Maxforce fly spot bait is not labeled to mix with water and be applied directly to horses, however we do have some products that are.  While many insecticides are in fact repellent to insects most are not labeled to repel the insects away, they are labeled to kill the insects that come in contact with the application. Sector, Permethrin SFR, Tengard and Riptide are all labeled to be applied to horses and various other farm animals for a wide variety of insects. Please carefully read and follow the label instructions when making the application to the horses.

QCan this granular bait in the 5 lb. pail be used as a spray?
I see there is a 2oz packet that can be mixed for a pump sprayer, as well as a liquid. Can this granular product be used as a spray, or is it solely for bait stations as well as a paint on application? I'm trying to get the most for my money compared to the packets.

AYou would not be able to apply this bait in a pump sprayer since mixing it with water produces a thick paste; the product does not dissolve fully in water. You could also save some money by purchasing a generic of this product called Bonanza Fly Bait. The Maxforce Fly Spot Bait is the only liquid fly bait that could be applied with a sprayer.

Qhow and where do the flies die?
using a bait station, do the flies die "inside" the station, or do they fly out of the station and die elsewhere? If they die elsewhere, would it be dangerous for my chickens to consume the dead fly?

AThere is not a set place that the flies will die. Some may die inside the station, some may not. It will depend on how much the fly eats and how far it makes it before the poison takes effect. The chance of any secondary poisoning to your chickens is extremely unlikely as the poison once ingested by the fly is only going to be a toxicity level to something the size of a fly. The only problem you would have is if the chickens were to consume the bait directly. If you have any further concerns you can contact the manufacturer Bayer 1-800-331-2867.

QWill Maxforce Granular Fly Bait work on cluster flies inside the home?

A

Maxforce Granular Fly Bait†would not be our number one recommendation for Cluster flies in a home.†

Installing a Paraclipse Insect Inn Ultra II Fly Light in attics and false ceilings is an effective approach to dealing with cluster flies when the overwintering site cannot be determined. When the cluster flies "awaken" in the spring, a fly light will attract and capture a large portion of the cluster fly population before they are able to inhabit living spaces. Please take a few minutes to read over our article entitled:How To Get Rid of Cluster Flies.

QWhy don't you sell the granular fly bait in smaller quantities
I don't have a barn or a restaurant - I would just like to use this around my house and yard. With a shelf life of only 2 years I don't think I need such a big pail.

AWe can only sell the sizes that the manufacturers make the baits in. In the case of Maxforce Fly Bait Granules the smallest size they are offering is 5 lbs. We do sell another brand which rates very high with our customers called Golden Malrin fly Bait and it comes in the smaller 1 lb can size.

QIs Maxforce fly bait effective for blow flies?

AMaxforce Granular Fly Bait will not work for Blow flies.
