    Q
How do I need to use the Maxforce fly granules around my house?
How do I need to use the Maxforce fly granules around my house? We have two small children and two outside animals, and I'm concerned about spreading the granules around outside.
    A
We would recommend placing the fly bait inside our tamper proof fly bait stations.  The stations require a key to open them and safely house the bait and protect it from children and pets.  Only the flies can get into the stations.

  • Asked by Jeff from Moreland, Georgia
    05/21/2013
    Q
how and where do the flies die?
using a bait station, do the flies die "inside" the station, or do they fly out of the station and die elsewhere? If they die elsewhere, would it be dangerous for my chickens to consume the dead fly?
    A
There is not a set place that the flies will die. Some may die inside the station, some may not. It will depend on how much the fly eats and how far it makes it before the poison takes effect. The chance of any secondary poisoning to your chickens is extremely unlikely as the poison once ingested by the fly is only going to be a toxicity level to something the size of a fly. The only problem you would have is if the chickens were to consume the bait directly. If you have any further concerns you can contact the manufacturer Bayer 1-800-331-2867.

    Q
Is Maxforce fly bait effective for horse flies, the very large flies commonly found on horses?
this is regarded as a bait, can it be made into a liquid solution and sprayed directly on the horse?
    A
Maxforce fly bait is labeled for horse flies but when used around barns or horses it should only be used in fly bait stations and not placed where horses or other livestock can access the bait.  Maxforce fly spot bait is not labeled to mix with water and be applied directly to horses, however we do have some products that are.  While many insecticides are in fact repellent to insects most are not labeled to repel the insects away, they are labeled to kill the insects that come in contact with the application. Sector, Permethrin SFR, Tengard and Riptide are all labeled to be applied to horses and various other farm animals for a wide variety of insects. Please carefully read and follow the label instructions when making the application to the horses.

    Q
Can you tell me how long a 5 lb pail of Maxforce Granular Fly Bait will last using 6 stations?

How long the product will last is completely dependent on the number of flies visiting the stations. The more flies you have the faster the bait will be consumed.

    Q
Why don't you sell the granular fly bait in smaller quantities
I don't have a barn or a restaurant - I would just like to use this around my house and yard. With a shelf life of only 2 years I don't think I need such a big pail.
    A
We can only sell the sizes that the manufacturers make the baits in. In the case of Maxforce Fly Bait Granules the smallest size they are offering is 5 lbs. We do sell another brand which rates very high with our customers called Golden Malrin fly Bait and it comes in the smaller 1 lb can size.

    Q
Will Maxforce Granular Fly Bait work on cluster flies inside the home?
    A

Maxforce Granular Fly Bait would not be our number one recommendation for Cluster flies in a home.

Installing a Paraclipse Insect Inn Ultra II Fly Light in attics and false ceilings is an effective approach to dealing with cluster flies when the overwintering site cannot be determined. When the cluster flies "awaken" in the spring, a fly light will attract and capture a large portion of the cluster fly population before they are able to inhabit living spaces. Please take a few minutes to read over our article entitled:How To Get Rid of Cluster Flies.

    Q
Can this granular bait in the 5 lb. pail be used as a spray?
I see there is a 2oz packet that can be mixed for a pump sprayer, as well as a liquid. Can this granular product be used as a spray, or is it solely for bait stations as well as a paint on application? I'm trying to get the most for my money compared to the packets.
    A
You would not be able to apply this bait in a pump sprayer since mixing it with water produces a thick paste; the product does not dissolve fully in water. You could also save some money by purchasing a generic of this product called Bonanza Fly Bait. The Maxforce Fly Spot Bait is the only liquid fly bait that could be applied with a sprayer.

    Q
Is Maxforce fly bait effective for blow flies?
    A
Maxforce Granular Fly Bait will not work for Blow flies. Only for common house flies, or lesser.EndZone Insecticide Sticker by FMC is used for the knockdown of the following filth flies: little house flies, house flies, bottle flies, blow flies, phorid flies, flesh flies, fungus gants, and vinegar/fruit flies. There are no vapors or fumes released. The product features a bittering agent to prevent accidental ingestion. Each sticker has a coating that is attractive to listed filth flies. After the flies ingest the coating, they die within 1 minute. Flies will usually die underneath the sticker and dead flies do not stick to EndZone Insecticide Sticker. Easily remove the dead flies using a vacuum or broom. Simply place a sticker near the filth fly resting, feeding, and breeding sites. Stickers may be placed in kitchens, commercial trash areas, and food storage areas. Stickers can be used near light sources, on windows, and other surfaces where these flies congregate.

  • Asked by Gretchen from Aguanga

    Q
Do I need to add water to the Maxforce Granular Fly Bait in the bait stations?
I have a horse farm and we've installed 12 bait stations but I don't see them working yet and I was wondering if I need to add water and how often I need to add water? Thanks
    A

You can squirt some water on top of the Maxforce Granular Fly Bait to boost the effect of it. The label recommends to re-apply the bait every 7 days as needed. You may also apply it as a paint-on application and see if that works better according to your needs.

Paint-on application: Mix 1.5 oz bait with 1 fl oz warm water (3 lbs bait in 1 quart water) and stir thoroughly. Let stand for about 15 minutes until a paste consistency suitable for painting has formed. Apply the paste with a brush to surfaces where flies rest avoiding surfaces that are dusty.
