Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide

Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide is very effective in controlling plant diseases such as Pythophthora, downy mildew, pythium, black spot, root rot, anthracnose, and more. It contains mono- and di-potassium salts of phosphorous acid and it functions as both a curative and preventive treatment to plants. It may be applied as a foliar spray, soil drench, by soil incorporation, through basal bark treatment and as a bare root dip. It can be used in trees, turf, ornamentals, in landscapes and interiorscapes, and bedding plants.

GENERAL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

For foliar sprays, apply AGRI-FOS Systemic Fungicide with sufficient water volumes for adequate coverage of foliage, according to plant type and growth stage. To ensure good coverage, spray to wetness, but avoid run-off.
When applying AGRI-FOS Systemic Fungicide to plant species for the first time, spray a limited number of plants first and wait for 3-7 days. Then check for leaf burn (phytotoxicity).

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Fill the spray tank with 1/4 to 1/2 of the volume of water required before adding AGRI-FOS Systemic Fungicide.
  2. Add AGRI-FOS Systemic Fungicide slowly to the tank and agitate.

5 of 5 stars  Agri-fos for pansy and snapdragon rot
By Larry in Modesto,California on 12/18/2012
    Verified Purchase

We plant a lot of pansies and snapdragons in the fall. Stem rot and root rot can be a problem at times, especially in overly wet soils caused by long stretches of rainy weather or if the sprinklers are over watering. Treatment with this systemic product has given us 100% positive results in a test treatment of 20 flats of annuals planted in several different soils and locations. It worked as both a preventative and a curative in some flowers that had disease prior to treatment. This stuff looks like a keeper.

5 of 5 stars  It is really works
By Maria in NC on 06/27/2016

I have a problem with ceder rust on my apple trees, bacterial leaf spot disease on my cherry and peach trees. My trees were severely affected! After first application all symptoms were stopped, but in two weeks symptoms have returned on remain foliage, so I had to make another application. In two more weeks all my trees showed up more new healthy growth and today, on the middle of summer, all my trees are absolutely healthy and, it seems, happy! I should use this product in early spring, and I'm definitely going to do it next year.

I am giving this product the benefit of doubt since I can't prove its performance yet. It will take a couple of months though when it gets really hot in the summer in Mississipp. My italian cypress trees have a fungus and I read where this product and Cleary 3336f will heal it. I am still waiting to see the results.

QDoes Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide help apple tree root rot?
I have lost a couple of fruit trees in the past and I think I have a couple more to start the same symptoms. The ones that act sick also have a little fire blight. Will this product help me?

AYes, Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide is labeled for root rot of apple trees. You would apply the Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide as a foliar spray using 0.5-1 oz per gallon of water.  You should apply as a one to two month interval between treatments. Under high disease pressure use higher application rate and shorter spray interval. Please be sure to spray thoroughly and get complete coverage.

QShould you soak tomato plant seedlings in agri-fos before planting?
On the Paul Parent Garden Club radio show, he promotes soaking tomato plant seedlings in a solution of agri-foe to give them a head-start against disease, then treating with a similar solution, but in both spray and root application every two weeks or so. What's your take?

AAgri-Fos is both a curative and preventative treatment and can be applied as a soil drench, foliar spray, soil incorporation, bare root dip, or a seedling soak.

QWill Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide control the seridium cankor on my leyland cypress trees?
I have 14 leyland cypress trees that became infected last year with seridium cankor. A tree expert examined my trees. The trees are 25 ft. tall. Thanks for the help.

A

Multiple university studies show that there are no current known fungicide treatments that are effective for controlling seridium canker in Leyland Cypress. Rather, good cultural practices and planting disease-resistant plants are recommended. Leyland Cypress have a shallow root system, so they will be more susceptible to disease when under drought stress. It is also important to prune any infected branches and to sanitize pruning tools after use. Here is more information from the Kent State Cooperative Extension about Leyland Cypress in your area.

QI have fungal cankers on peach, pear and apple trees. Will this product help?
I have tried most antifungals known to man, even surgical removal. So will systemic antifungals help?

A

We would recommend you contact your local county cooperative extension office and speak with a Master Gardener. Since you are unsure of the specific type of fungi and have been unsuccessful with other fungicides we would be very apprehensive making a product recommendation. You may click the link below and follow the instructions to locate your local cooperative extension office for further recommendation.

QWill Agri-Fos help stop fungus already on a willow tree, that appears to have dead branches on half the tree.
Or is there any product to help on this? The tree is six years old.

AThe first thing you should do is get the tree examined by a trained arborist. The arborist will be able to tell you what type of disease/fungus the tree has and whether or not it can be saved. Fungicides in general work best as a preventative or when used right at the beginning of the disease.

QWill Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide work on pine needle blight?

A

No, Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide is not specifically labeled for pine needle blight.

We would recommend using Honor Guard PPZ Fungicide. It is a general fungicide that is labeled for conifer blights. You will mix 2-4 fl. oz. in 100 gallons of water and apply every 14-21 while the disease is present.

QWhat is the best treatment for anthracnose on mango trees?

A

We would recommend using Monterrey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide. The dilution rate is two teaspoons per gallon of water. You will spray the tree every 14 days during the blossom period, then monthly until harvest. You will spray to the point of runoff.

QHow does the product actually treat the fungus?
I understand Agrifos is a phosphorus acid derived from potassium, basically super hydrogen peroxide H3PO2or 3 or 4, with possibly a K attached, but how is this affecting the fungi?? Is the product actually oxygenating the fungi as a normal peroxide would, and if so why does it require such small amounts??

AFor any specific questions regarding how Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide works, we would recommend speaking directly to the manufacturer. Their phone number is 559-499-2100.

QCan I use Monterey Agri-Fos for the rust on potted plumeria?
The potted plumerias are in big pots making it impossible to move and are closed to hibiscus on the ground that is why I cannot spray them.

A

Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide is not actually labeled to treat for rust. A better option would be the Bonide Neem Oil RTU or Concentrate.
