I need to treat 15 Cedars for bag worms with systemic insecticide. How many 4lb containers of this do I need?

Answer:

The Bayer Advanced product would not work for your needs both because it is not labeled to treat bagworms, but also because bagworms are not affected by systemic insecticides in either a liquid or granular form. You must spray the foliage and trunks of the trees, no matter how tall they are to effectively control the bagworms. With the way bagworms feed they do not get far enough into the trees system where the systemic product would be for it to affect them, and even if they did it takes at least 3 weeks for a systemic product to work its way all the way through the tree to where they are feeding. We highly recommend using a foliar spray like Fertilome Borer, Bagworm and Tent Caterpillar spray as this works extremely well at coating the leaf surfaces and providing faster ingestion. You would mix this product at the rate of 2 ounces per gallon of water and spray both top and bottom sides of plant foliage until wet but not dripping. You can make multiple applications a year as needed. Depending on the heigth of your trees will depend on how many bottles of the product you will need. If you do not have a sprayer that will reach heights of more than 15 feet, we do carry Backpack Sprayers and our Chapin Slide Pump Sprayers which will reach roughly 20-30 feet at least depending on the pressure used.
