    Q
Is Nufarm Polaris Herbicide available in a one gallon jug?
Is Nufarm Polaris Herbicide better than Catt Plex? Can either be used in a koi pond?
    A

Nufarm Polaris Herbicide is only available in a 2.5 gallon jug only at this time. Both Nufarm Polaris and Catt Plex are labeled for treating cattails. We do not carry any products that are safe to be used in koi ponds at this time. We would recommend that you contact a koi pond supplier in your area or possibly your local cooperative extension office for advice on what products to use.

  • Asked by Denny from Genesee, Pa

    Q
Will Nufarm Polaris Herbicide kill Chinese bamboo permanently?
I've been battling Chinese bamboo for 2 years now.
    A

Nufarm Polaris Herbicide is a great choice for aiding in control of Japanese and Golden Bamboo in aquatic areas. Per the product label, you should apply when the plants are actively growing and before setting seed head. It is important to understand and practice non-chemical methods for controlling many types of bamboo as well since established bamboo can be very difficult to completely eradicate. This article from your PA Extension has more information about bamboo commonly found in your area.

  • Asked by Lyman from Chipley
    08/04/2019
    Q
Is there any chemical I can spray or anything I can do to counteract the Polaris I sprayed?
    A

The only way to reduce the effects of an herbicide such as Nufarm Polaris Herbicide would be use an activated charcoal immediately after spraying (within hours). If you have sprayed intolerant grass/plants with an herbicide by mistake, you will mostly have to wait and see what happens since result will vary depending on the rate used and overall health of the desirable plants.  You may also try contacting Nufarm for further information, they can be reached at 800-345-3330.

  • Asked by Huie from Kansas City, Mo
    07/05/2015
    Q
What mixture of Nufarm Polaris Herbicide should I use around a septic drain system where tall grass is growing?
    A

For most grassy weeds, you will use 2-3 pints per acre of Nufarm Polaris Herbicide, and you may need to add a surfactant to your mixture. We are unable to give more specific dilution rates without knowing exactly what plants you need to control. You can consult the product label for complete rates and application instructions, or you may call us at 866-581-7378 for further assistance. You should not apply Polaris in areas where it would drain into public waters.

  • Asked by Robert from Columbia, mississippi
    08/09/2021
    Q
Will Nufarm Polaris Herbicide kill kudzu and cogongrass?
    A

NuFarm Polaris Herbicide is labeled to control Cogongrass, but it is not labeled for kudzu. While the ingredients in Polaris should in theory be able to do at least some damage on the kudzu, you may find you need to mix in some Roundup, or a brush killer type product such as Crossbow Herbicide to achieve full results on vine type plants such as kudzu. Keep in mind anywhere you use the Polaris should be outside the root zone of any desirable vegetation since this can sterilize the soil and prevent new growth for a period of time.

  • Asked by Dustin from Fulshear Texas
    08/17/2021
    Q
Can I use Nufarm Polaris Herbicide to kill marsh can I use Nufarm Polaris Herbicide to kill Marsh Dewflower (Murdannia keisak) in buffalograss?
    A

Nufarm Polaris Herbicide is not labeled for marsh dewflower (murdannia keisak) which is in the spiderwort family.

Unfortunately, after reviewing multiple products, it appears that there is not a product specifically labeled for this weed in lawns. We would recommend using a non selective herbicide containing glyphosate such as RoundUp QuickPro to spot treat the weeds directly and then reseeding/resodding after 2 weeks.

  • Asked by Jim from Hubbard
    09/18/2021
    Q
    Cattails using Nufarm Polaris Herbicide
I have cattails around my pond I am using a 1-gallon sprayer how much Polaris do I use 2 oz ? Also do I spray from top to bottom what if it is in the water just spray the tops? thank you
    A

Per the product label when using Nufarm Polaris Herbicide for cattails the rate is 2 to 4 pints per acre (0.5%-1% solution) applied to actively growing green foliage after full leaf elongation.  Lower rates will control cattail in the North, higher rates are needed in the south.

  • Asked by John from Ventura

    Q
Can you apply Nufarm Polaris in a recreational park setting?
Our local County Parks department is looking into the use of Polaris as an option for weed control.
    A

We would recommend contacting Nufarm directly at 1-800-345-3330 for confirmation as we would need more details on the recreational area you are treating. Nufarm Polaris Herbicide cannot be used on lawns, walks, driveways, tennis courts or similar areas. The product label does states for Recreational use of water in treatment area, there are no restrictions for recreational purposes such as swimming or fishing.
