    Q
Does Optigard Flex Liquid work on wasps?
I noticed your website list of insects did not include wasps, but a wasp control website says this is the best non-repelent to use for them. Any thoughts/ideas on this?
    A

Optigard Flex Liquid is labeled for yellow jackets and wasps.  On our website list there is  *See label for complete list, of which the wasps and yellowjects are in included there.  When treating for wasps and yellow jackets you will be treating their nests directly.

    Q
Will Optigard Flex Liquid work to keep Palmetto Bugs from entering my home?
We have tried several products (including professional) to keep these large roaches from entering our rural Florida home. We need an effective perimeter treatment because we have pet birds (small parrots) and don't want to use insecticides around them.
    A
Optigard Flex Liquid will definitely help reduce the palmetto bugs on your property. You should note that because palmetto bugs can fly that there is a chance that they could fly into your home without ever having touched a treated area. You can also help reduce the amount of palmetto bugs on your property by removing yard debris and turning mulched areas frequently to reduce the amount of moisture up close to your home. Please take a moment to read our article Integrated Pest Management to learn more about how to make your property less favorable to these pests.

    Q
Your Q&A for Termidor says it only lasts 6 weeks on wood - How long does Optigard Flex last?
    A
When using Termidor to treat for termites it is meant to go in the ground.  It is not a wood treatment product.  Optigard Flex is an insecticide meant for indoor and outdoor perimeter treatments.  It is also not a wood treatment product.  You would not want to use Optigard Flex for termite or beetle control in wood.  You would want to use a wood treatment product like Bora-Care which stays in the wood forever and is meant to be applied on only wood.  It depends on what you are trying to control as to what product would be best for your needs.

    Q
Would Optigard Flex be effective against pyrethrins/pyrethroid resistant bedbugs?
Neonicotinoids have been found to be effective against bed bugs.
    A
Optigard Flex is NOT labeled for the treatment of bed bugs, so we do not recommend this product for that use. An insecticide that does contain a neonicotinoid, imidacloprid, that is excellent for bed bug treatment is Temprid SC. For complete bed bug treatments, we recommend the use of our bed bugs kits, several of which contain Temprid SC, and all of which contain a variety of products and our five page Bed Bug Guide.

    Q
How do I use the insecticide ports outside my house?
I just moved to Texas and the house I purchased has several ports around the perimeter that I am told are for insectide to be applied to the house through tubes in the walls. We've just encountered our first roach after having received a clean pest inspection during the purchase. Can I use these ports myself? What kind of product do I apply? What is the method of application?
    A
We only carry one product labeled specifically for use in the wall delivery systems which would be the Optigard Flex. That being said, we have always been told that a homeowner would not have the proper equipment to utilize the in wall system and it requires a specific high pressure applicator for the ports. However, you can do a general spray like most companies would do with a product like Suspend Polyzone which can be mixed with water and sprayed indoors and outdoors for pest control. Suspend works extremely well on roaches as well as a multitude of other pests like ants, spiders, millipedes, mosquitoes, etc. It dries clear, has no odor, doesn't stain, and can be used inside along baseboards and cracks and crevices, and outdoors around the foundation, window and door frames and bushes and shrubs where pests will harbor. Suspend Polyzone will last up to 90 days outdoors and at least 90 indoors as well.

    Q
Why isn't Optigard Flex labeled for pharoah or carpenter ants?
If it works well for other ants why not them?
    A
Some ants act differently than other ant species which could limit the way the product would spread through the colony. Manufacturers will only include an insect on their product label if it meets certain criteria and for some reason they felt the product was not effective enough on Pharoah and carpenter ants. If you need more specific information as to why they were not included you can contact Syngenta, the manufacturer, directly by calling 866-796-4368.

    Q
Is Optigard Flex Liquid effective against argentinian ants?
    A
Optigard Flex Liquid is a fairly new product and we have not had any feedback on it specific to Argentinian Ants. Optigard Flex is labeled for ants and it is non-repellent and has a transfer effect, which makes it a top choice for social insects such as ants.

    Q
Is there something better to treat ants indoors and outdoors besides the Optigard Flex Liquid?
We also need something that is safe around our family and pets.
    A

Optigard Flex Insecticide is a great insecticide for ants. It is labeled to treat most types of ants, excluding pharoah and carpenter ants. Generally, when you are treating for ants, we would recommend using a bait in conjunction with an insecticide. We do have an Outdoor/Indoor Ant Kit that is specialized for your state. It contains all the items you will need to do a complete ant treatment. Also, please check out our Ant Guide that helps you identify, prepare, treat and prevent ants.

    Q
Does Optigard Flex incorporate (Z)-9-hexadecenal? Do you have any products that do incorporate this hormone?
    A

Optigard Flex does not list (Z)-9-hexadecenal as any of its active ingredients.  The inactive ingredients are privy to the manufacturer and not disclosed, so we cannot say whether or not the product contains (Z)-9-hexadecenal.  You may wish to contact the manufacturer directly for more information.  You can reach Syngenta by calling 800-334-9481.  We are not aware of a product that we currently carry that contains this ingredient.

    Q
Will Optigard Flex Liquid treat for Scorpions? Scorpions are listed on the label but my pest control guy said that's what they use?
    A

Optigard Flex Liquid, is not labeled for scorpions. Typically, a microencapsulated insecticide such as Demand CS or Onslaught Fast Cap Spider and Scorpion Insecticide is the best treatment. We recommend taking a look at the Scorpion Treatment Guide and Videos on how to successfully treat and protect your home.

    Q
Why isn't Optigard Flex labeled for bed bugs?
    A

We are not sure of the exact reasons why the manufacturer of Optigard Flex Liquid does not list bed bugs on the label other than the fact that it has not been tested for bed bug applications. We recommend using one of our bed bug kits. Generally, it takes more than one type of product to treat for Bed Bugs so we have conveniently included all the items in a kit. Please also review our article How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs.
