Orcon Predatory Mites (2000 live adults) (MI-C2000) are a great way to get rid of nuisance mites that are destroying your garden. These mites are different from their prey, in that they will only seek out and eat the pest mites, their favorite being common spider mites. The predatory mites are shipped live, ready to go and destroy the troublesome mite population. These mites are an excellent way to control pests without using chemical pesticides and to avoid any of their possible side effects and residue. Best applied as soon as the first signs of an infestation are noticed, you only need from two-to-five insects per plant, or 500-to-2000 mites per tree.

USE: These mites feed on small insects, particularly, the spider mite. Spider mites are common plant pests and typically feed on the underside of leaves, plants that are indoors, and trees.
RELEASE: They are shipped in bottles along with materials such as corn grit or vermiculite. When the shipment arrives, it should be opened and inspected to determine if any mites are still alive. Shake them out of the bottles on leaves and in any area where they are likely to find pest mites. Predatory mites should be released the evening when received.
LIFE CYCLE: The female lays 50 to 60 eggs on the underside of leaves. They will usually hatch in 2-3 days and this cycle takes around 10 days.
RECOMMENDATIONS: At the first sign of pest mites, it is necessary to release the predatory mites. When large populations are high, it is best to use a soft pesticide such as an insecticidal soap to knock them down. A little sugar water and high humidity will improve their performance. After releasing, do not hose down the leaves. Since they will attack each other, let them out as soon as possible.
COVERAGE: Approximately 2 to 5 predatory mites can cover an infested plant, and as many as 500 to 2,000 can cover per tree.
GENERAL INFORMATION: They differ from pest mites in size and color. They are pear-shaped and their bodies range in color from cream to orange as adults. Other differences are that mites do not have spots and their front legs are longer.
