Orthene PCO Pellets

Orthene® PCO is one of the most popular and effective ways to control a wide variety of bothersome home and pantry pests, including ants, firebrats, crickets, pillbugs, earwigs, and cockroaches. Orthene PCO was uniquely designed to target and exert control over even the most stubborn household pests that tend to be resistant to other products, like the German Cockroach (which ranks among the most pesticide-resistant pest next to the housefly). Research continues to demonstrate that the active ingredient in Orthene PCO—acephate—remains one of few insecticides to which the German cockroach and other insecticide-resistant pests remain vulnerable. The unique 97 percent formulation of Orthene PCO Pellets means that you deal with less residue dust and lower odor. This product comes in the form of small pellets which dissolve easily water for use as a crack and crevice spray or for perimeter and spot treatments. Orthene PCO can be used on a variety of surfaces with stain or film, including stainless steel, tile, glass and porcelain. This product should not be used on carpet or upholstery.

Box contains 10 - 1.40 ounce packets

Directions For Use:

Cockroaches, Ants, Crickets and Firebrats: Apply as a coarse, low pressure spot spray, crack and crevice spray or with a paint brush to localized areas where these pests are found or normally occur. Including corners of rooms and closets, around television sets and radios, along and behind baseboards, around and under sinks, dishwashers, washing machines, refrigerators, stoves and cabinets; areas where plumbing enters or leaves the room or other areas inhabited by these pests. Note: A period of 3 to 7 days may be necessary for Orthene PCO Pellets to reach its maximum effect on cockroaches.

Earwigs, Pillbugs and Sowbugs: Apply as a coarse, low pressure spot spray to areas around doors and windows, storage areas, baseboards and other areas where these pests may enter or be found.

Pantry Pests - Exposed Stages (Confused Flour Beetle, Indian Meal Moth and Trogoderma): Apply Orthene PCO Pellets at 1.0% as a spot application to pantry and cupboard shelves where food containers suspected of being infested are stored. Prior to spraying, remove all foodstuffs, shelving paper and utensils. Do not replace the food packages until the surface has dried. Replace shelving paper. Infested food packages should be destroyed.

Wasps: Apply Orthene PCO Pellets as a spot application at 0.5% to 1.0% to the nest, nest entrance, and surrounding areas where the wasps alight. Wasps are generally less active early and late in the day, so it is advisable that nests should be treated during these times.

Perimeter Treatment: To control Cockroaches, Ants (including Imported Fire Ants), Pillbugs and Earwigs apply Orthene PCO Pellets at 0.5% to 1.0% to a band of soil 6 to 10 feet adjacent to the structure; also to a height of 2 to 3 feet on the foundation where pests may be active or may find entrance. Also, apply as a residual spray or with a paint brush to surfaces of buildings, window frames, shutters, entry ways, screens, eaves, patios, garages, carports, around garbage areas and other areas where these pests congregate. Note: When making perimeter treatments only foraging ants will be controlled.

Ants (including Imported Fire Ants) in Mounds within a treated perimeter or other non-crop areas: In order to control a mound or nest, a drench treatment is necessary. For mound drench treatment, dissolve on packet of Orthene PCO Pellets in 9 gallons of water. Apply on gallon of mix to each mound by sprinkling mound until it is wet and treat a four foot diameter circle around the mound. For best results, apply Orthene PCO Pellets in the early morning or late afternoon when ants are most active. Mound drench applications made under prolonged hot and dry conditions may be ineffective due to the location of ants deep within the nest. Note: Grass in treated areas may be injured. Do not treat a mound more than once per season.

For Application as Spot Treatment: Spot treatments may be applied at moderate pressure (up to 35 psi) using a coarse fan tip. For spot treatments, no individual spot will exceed two square feet. Mix Orthene PCO Pellets according to dilution chart. Apply as a spot treatment using coarse fan spray to areas inhabited by cockroaches. Treat areas such as baseboards, under and behind refrigerators, stoves, dishwashing and other equipment as well as in storage areas, closets, sinks, cabinets, around windows, doors and water pipes. Spot treatment should also include underside of drawers, shelves and other sites where cockroaches frequent or travel.

Food Handling Establishments: For use in Federally Inspected Meat and Poultry Plants and places other than private residences in which exposed food is held, processed, prepared or served.

Food Areas - Application Limited to Spot and / or Crack and crevice Treatment Only: Includes areas for receiving, storage, packing (canning, bottling, wrapping, boxing) preparing, edible waste storage and enclosed processing systems (mills, dairies, edible oils, syrups). Spray concentration shall be limited to a maximum of 1.0% active ingredient. Apply in small amounts directly into cracks and crevices using equipment capable of delivering a pin stream of insecticide in points between different elements of construction, between equipment and floors, openings leading to voids and hollow spaces in walls, equipment legs and bases, where labeled insects hide. Care should be taken to avoid depositing this product onto exposed surfaces or introducing the material into the air. Avoid contamination of food or food processing surfaces. Applications of this product in the food areas of food handling establishments, other than as a spot and / or crack and crevice treatment are not permitted.

Non-Food Areas: Includes garbage rooms, lavatories, floor drains (to sewer entries and vestibules, offices, locker rooms, machine rooms, boiler rooms, garages, mop closets and storage.) Spray concentration shall be limited to a maximum of 1.0% active ingredient. Apply to baseboard areas, around water pipes, surfaces behind and beneath sinks, lockers, tables, pallets and similar areas where insects hide or through which they may enter.

Serving Areas: Facilities where prepared foods are served, such as dining rooms, but excluding areas where foods may be prepared or held. Apply as a spot treatment to selective surfaces such as baseboards, under elements of construction into cracks and crevices. Avoid treating surfaces likely to be contacted by food. (Do not apply when facility is in operation or foods are exposed.) Do not allow spray or mist to contact food, foodstuffs or water supplies. Dishes and food handling utensils should be thoroughly washed in soap and water if exposed to contamination by the application of this product. Do not allow children or pets to come into contact with treated surfaces until sprays have dried.

Avoid contamination of food or food processing surfaces.

Caution: Do not apply directly to carpet as staining may occur. Do not treat unpainted masonry floors in poorly ventilated areas such as garages or basements, especially where moisture or high humidity exists since persistent odor could develop.

5 of 5 stars  Very good with Rental Property
By Broader in ST. Louis, MO on 08/04/2010
    Verified Purchase

You see results the next day in unoccupied rental property. If you have an infestation in occupied rentals, the tenants see the results the next day. They are psychologically satisfied that an attempt to resolve the problem was made.

5 of 5 stars  Best German Roach Killer Available
By Larry in Coffeyville Ks on 09/09/2013
    Verified Purchase

I have low income apartment housing where some people don't even try to keep things clean. I have been fighting german roaches for 10 years even using professionals with little to no success until I started using this product with Gentrol added to sprayer. Now I no longer have any problems unless someone new moves in & then their problem is resolved with one spraying. I have been using it for 3 years now every 2 months with no more german roaches. What a great product. This is the best stuff on the market "bar none".

3 of 5 stars  Killed Most of the Roaches
By Ed in Wellston, OK on 01/11/2015
    Verified Purchase

Wasn't the Holy Grail of roach killers, as I had hoped, but it killed about 90 percent of them. Now, if only I could get rid of the other 10 percent quickly and easily! I think the gel bait would have been better.

    Expert Response   Expert response:
We are glad you've had success so far. We do recommend using both a roach bait gel and an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) in conjunction with residual sprays for complete roach control. Just be sure to spray low and bait high so that sprays do not interfere with baits. We sell bait and IGR together in our Roach Control Kit #1: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/roach-control-kit-p-1058.html

5 of 5 stars  ORTHENE IS EFFECTIVE.
By John in New York on 04/19/2013
    Verified Purchase

I've been using this product effectively for eight years. I use mainly for roach infestation and it keeps my customers happy. Tho it kills other insects I am happy that it does not require monthly treatment. If you are fairly clean and clean up the kitchen well, you may only need a treatment every 6 months or so. exellent product.

5 of 5 stars  It Actually Worked!!
By Steven in Independence, Kansas on 01/02/2016

The brown roaches finally became too many during Summer/Fall of 2015 and the Cat couldn't keep up with killing them. I went to Wal-Mart looking for something that would work. The very nice lady there told me she tried something called Orothene. I found this Orthene and ordered two full boxes, thinking that I would need to keep re-applying. I ordered too much because it only took two packets and two sprayings to make all the roaches dead. I haven't seen one roach since November 2015. The product is labeled as "not for use in homes" but I sprayed everywhere it recommended. It smelled bad (rotten) and lasted about 4-5 days, but, it did not stain anything. The Cat and Dogs did not seem to be affected by it, even when let right back into the house. I am extremely impressed!! Thanks sooo much for a great product!!

By Jazelle in Richmond, VA on 10/27/2015
    Verified Purchase

I use Orthene in combination with Gentrol IGR and Demon WP in a sprayer. One spraying per year has kept my home completely pest free for the last 4 years. The only drawback is the smell. Its pretty bad and lasts for about a week, but you can't beat the results. I will never use another product and DoMyOwnPestControl has the best prices on the internet. Thanks!!!!

By Robert?betty in Alma Arkansas on 02/05/2016

We tried about everything we could find on the market, including two major pest control companies, and the results was no noticeable differance. We then went to a local feed store and told them we wanted the strongest treatment for roaches they had. They sold one bottle that was to kill and another that was for birth control. we got a little results from this but they kept coming back. A friend told us about your product so we ordered it. We sprayed the kitchen and bathroom. Two days later we could hardly beleive the results so we sprayed the whole house and now we are 99 percent bug free. The ones we do see are very sick. We have sprayed all our family members houses and got the same results. I would highly recomend this product if you have a bug problem.

QAre Orthene PCO Pellets labeled for use in residential areas?
Proven effective in commercial accounts, wondered if could be used "legally" in residential or multifamily locations.

AOrthene PCO Pellets are not labeled for residential settings, but we cannot find wording on the label that specifically forbids using the product there either. We recommend contacting the manufacturer to see what they intend their label to mean for use in residential areas. You can reach Valent at 1-800-89-VALENT (898-2536)

QCan Orthene PCO pellets be used against fleas?
We have a cat who didn't have fleas til my daughter visited with her dog. Now I have them all in my house. I've tried Bengal sprays and foggers, Sevens dust and liquid, Hot Shot products and Raid. So far the flea treatment is working on the cat but nothing works in the house except constant moping and vacuuming. The only thing I have left is the Orthene which I use every 6 months to make sure I don't have roaches in my kitchen and bath areas. Will this also work on the fleas? Can I use it on hard wood floors?

A

Orthene PCO Pellets are not labeled for use inside residential homes and would not be recommended.  We would recommend our Indoor Flea Kit.  Here is a great video on how to use our Indoor Kit.
