  • Asked by Pavel from Suffolk, Ny
    09/27/2016
    Q
Are Orthene PCO Pellets repellent or non-repellent?
    A

Orthene PCO Pellets is considered a repellent product in that insects can detect that it is on the surface where it was applied.  It may not repel insects from an area and may only do so for a short time.  It is more designed to provide a lasting residual to continue to kill after application.

    Q
Are Orthene PCO Pellets labeled for use in residential areas?
Proven effective in commercial accounts, wondered if could be used "legally" in residential or multifamily locations.
    A
Orthene PCO Pellets are not labeled for residential settings, but we cannot find wording on the label that specifically forbids using the product there either. We recommend contacting the manufacturer to see what they intend their label to mean for use in residential areas. You can reach Valent at 1-800-89-VALENT (898-2536)

  • Asked by Dean from North Augusta, Sc
    08/19/2017
    Q
Can Orthene PCO Pellets be applied along with roach bait gel?
    A

Orthene PCO Pellets can be applied to baseboards, cracks and crevices, behind appliances, in closets, under sinks, etc. in sites listed on the product label. Note: A period of 3 to 7 days may be necessary for Orthene PCO Pellets to reach its maximum effect on cockroaches. Roach bait is not to be placed in the same areas where Orthene PCO Pellets has been applied. Roach bait should be applied in pea size amounts under and around plumbing pipes, doors and windows, behind and under refrigerators, cabinets, sinks, closets, stoves and other equipment where cockroaches hide. Inspect bait placements and reapply when necessary. Keep in mind that this product is not for indoor residential use.

The key thing to remember is "spray low and bait high."

You may view the step by step instructions on how to fully treat for roaches in our Roach Control Pest Control Guide here.

  • Asked by Tom from Hilton Head Island
    05/03/2019
    Q
Can I use Orthene PCO Pellets to eliminate mole crickets?
    A

Orthene PCO Pellets is not labeled for mole crickets.

Talstar P does a fantastic job treating mole crickets.

Mole Cricket adults:Achieving acceptable control of adult mole crickets is difficult because preferred grass areas are subject to continuous invasion during the early spring by this extremely active stage. Applications should be made as late in the day as possible and should be watered in with up to 0.5 inches of water immediately after treatment. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate
before application to bring the mole crickets closer to the soil surface where contact with the insecticide will be maximized. Grass areas that receive pressure from adult mole crickets should be treated at peak egg hatch to ensure optimum control of subsequent nymph populations (see below).

Mole Cricket nymphs: Grass areas that received intense adult mole cricket pressure in the spring should be treated immediately prior to peak egg hatch. Optimal control is achieved at this time because young nymphs are more susceptible to insecticides and they are located near the soil surface where the insecticide is most concentrated. Control of larger, more damaging, nymphs later in the
year may require both higher application rates and more frequent applications to maintain acceptable control. Applications should be made as late in the day as possible and should be watered in with up to 0.5 inches of water immediately after treatment. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate before application to bring the mole crickets closer to the soil surface where contact with the insecticide will be maximized.

  • Asked by Michelle from Wilmington, Nc

    Q
Can Orthene PCO pellets be used against fleas?
We have a cat who didn't have fleas til my daughter visited with her dog. Now I have them all in my house. I've tried Bengal sprays and foggers, Sevens dust and liquid, Hot Shot products and Raid. So far the flea treatment is working on the cat but nothing works in the house except constant moping and vacuuming. The only thing I have left is the Orthene which I use every 6 months to make sure I don't have roaches in my kitchen and bath areas. Will this also work on the fleas? Can I use it on hard wood floors?
    A

Orthene PCO Pellets are not labeled for use inside residential homes and would not be recommended.  We would recommend our Indoor Flea Kit.  Here is a great video on how to use our Indoor Kit.
