Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit

The Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit was created by our staff to help you make an easy choice when it comes to an effective solution for flea control when you are having an issue outside as well as inside your home. The kit includes 1 pint of Onslaught insecticide and 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Martins IGR to stop flea growth and reproduction.  We've included these products because they are easy to use, effective, and safe to use in your yard and inside the home. Both products are concentrated and need to be mixed with water before use.  You can apply the mixed solution with a pressurized hand-held sprayer or a hose-end sprayer.  This kit provides enough product to cover a typical yard (1/4 to 1/2 acre).

How to Use:

Both Onslaught and Martins IGR will have instructions on the bottle that you need to read before use. Always read the product labels.

Outdoor Use:
Onslaught Insecticide: Mix 0.5 to 1.0 fluid ounce of Onslaught in sufficient water to cover 1,000 square feet of lawn. Spray the entire lawn with a coarse, wet spray. Repeat this application in two weeks.

Martins IGR:  Once you've mixed up the Onslaught according to the instructions mentioned above, simply add the desired amount of Martins IGR to the mix and spray both the Onslaught and Martins IGR at the same time. We recommend about 1 oz of Martins per every 5 gallons of Onslaught solution that you mix up.

Indoor Use:

Onslaught Insecticide: Mix 0.5 oz of Onslaught with 1 gallon of water (+ 1 oz of Martins IGR if needed, please see below) to treat a 1,000 sq ft area. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray to infested rugs, carpets, and pet resting areas.

Martins IGR: Add 1 oz of Martins IGR to the diluted solution of Onslaught for the initial treatment.

Prior to treatment, carpets, draperies and upholstered furniture should be vacuumed thoroughly and the vacuum cleaner bag disposed of in an outdoor trash receptacle. Remove pets from area to be treated. After treatment, do not allow children and pets into treated areas until spray has dried. You should vacuum once daily every day for the next 14 days to help speed up the flea elimination process. A second application of Onslaught may be needed after 14 days.

5 of 5 Stars  Outdoor Flea Kit
By Stan on October 11, 2010
    Verified Purchase

We live in the low-country. This past summer the fleas were over running our yard. Nothing at Lowes, Home Depot and others did work. We live on an acre lot. Professional exterminators wanted $300-$1000 with out a guarantee. I actually mixed this per label and used a power washer (soap nozzle) to spread it. Thinking it would be too weak, I was surprised that within 24 hrs we were flea free. I will order this again.

1 of 5 Stars  Pest control
By Steve on June 28, 2011
    Verified Purchase

Tried it out after nothing else helped. Sprayed with hose end sprayer and then after do it yourself recommendation bought a power sprayer and sprayed my mulch and yard. The poison was supposed to kill all types of bugs plus fleas.  My dog still comes in with fleas and I have little ants and things all over still.  I have given up with all these products that say they work. The truth is the bugs were here for longer than us and they will probably still be here when we are gone. Good luck!

This is a nice packaging for fleas, but I wish you had provided a package similarly with the IGR and Tempo. Thanks for great service and pricing. I'll continue to be a regular customer.

4 of 5 Stars  Relief from fleas
By Steve on November 5, 2012
    Verified Purchase

I used the flea control kit as directed after using two other products unsuccessfully over the past month. The other products offered only temporary relief form the adult fleas even though they contained and IGR in the formulation. I used the flea control kit as directed on all carpeting, pet beds and furniture and the result was noticeable right away, after a week I applied the product again as I noticed some living fleas in my pets bedding. I haven’t seen any since. (I was treating my dog with Capstar while treating the house with the flea control kit)

By James on August 7, 2012

Does exactly as they promise. Fleas were knocked down with initial application and next week or so they were all immature and did not even bite. I am so glad to have my dog back to normal. He was freaked out. Going to apply once more just for good measure since my application is outside and the IGR breaks down in sunlight in 14 days.

Most Helpful Q&A's

June 29, 2010 Mark asked:

QHow many Outdoor Flea Kits will I need to treat a 2 acre yard?

A

In most cases, you do not need to treat the entire 2 acres. You need to concentrate on moist, shady areas and those areas where pets spend a lot of time resting. Typically, each flea kit will treat up to 30,000 sq f.

July 26, 2010 Brad asked:

QWhen is it safe to let pets out in the sprayed area(patio and yard) after applying the outdoor flea kit?
We need to spray our Chattahoochee patio for fleas, but we have cats that go outside on the patio. We do not want to harm them or have it never be safe for them to go outside again.

AThe products in the Outdoor/Indoor Flea kit are perfectly safe for use around pets.  You just need to keep the pets inside or somewhere else why you are applying the product.  Allow time to dry which is typically about 30 minutes, and then it is perfectly safe to allow the pets to be back in the treated area.

May 4, 2011 Kim asked:

QWhat is the difference between using Onslaught and Martins IGR vs Conquer and Archer?
Last summer I purchased a combo deal for fleas, Archer and Conquer and now your site is offering Martins and Onslaught, why the change to different products and a higher cost?

ABoth combinations will do a great job for you. If you purchase the Archer and the Conquer together for flea control you spend about $86.33 vs purchasing the Onslaught and Martins in the kit for $74.95. We chose Onslaught for the kit because it is a great indoor/outdoor product and is labeled for use on over 200 different insects including fleas and ticks and because it is micro-encapsulated which will help it last longer in outdoor conditions. We chose to offer the Martins IGR to help keep costs down and because it usually doesn't need to be used as often as the actual adulticide (Conquer or Onslaught). Also one bottle of Conquer will only make 16 gallons of finished solution for flea control while Onslaught will make about 32 gallons.

September 14, 2011 Terry from Patterson La asked:

QI have 3 dogs and a flea problem inside and out. What do you recommend to kill them?

AIf you want to use the same product for both indoor and outdoor flea treatments you should consider purchasing our Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit. This kit contains Onslaught which is a broad spectrum insecticide which can be used as a broadcast spray for both indoor and outdoor infestations. The kit also contains Martins IGR which will help break the breeding cycle of the fleas for long term control. You must vacuum indoors prior to the first treatment and then vacuum daily for 14 days to help eliminate some of the flea eggs and flea debris that the pupae feed on. Outdoors you should concentrate on moist, shady areas and areas where the animals spend time resting. After 14 days a retreatment may be needed to eliminate any left over fleas (the kit comes with enough product for repeat applications). Your dogs must be treated with a product that is labeled for flea control on animals.

February 27, 2012 Cathy from United States asked:

QWhat DIY flea products should NOT be used around cats? We want to find a product that we can use in our fogger
We live in the hot south near flea infested sandy sois. We have lots of carpet inside our home and a carpeted cat tree. Our yard seems to fill up with fleas overnight! We have dogs that go inside and out, and our cats stay inside. Sadly, the fleas seem to find the cats too (I guess from the dogs). We bathe them with flea shampoo and treat them with topical flea controls. We even give them the oral flea pills. We're still losing the battle. We are now trying to find the perfect blend of chemicals that is effective inside and outside of our home but safe for both cats and dogs. We have a professional "fogger" that we can use to apply the mixture inside, and we have an outside sprayer and spreader that we can use outside. Is there a single chemical concentrate that will work? If not, is there a best TWO chemicals that we can use?

AFogging is not usually the best option for flea control. Fogs work best for flying insects and exposed insects like roaches. For flea control you will want to use a hand pump sprayer for indoor and outdoor applications. We recommend our Indoor/Outdoor Flea Kit if you would like to use the same product for both areas.  The kit includes 1 pint of Onslaught insecticide to kill the active adults and 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Martins IGR to stop flea growth and reproduction.  We've included these products because they are easy to use, effective, and safe to use in your yard and inside the home. Be sure to vacuum immediately before the indoor application and everyday for 14 days after the application to help speed along the flea elimination. Outdoors you want to concentrate on places where your animals spend time resting and on moist shady areas where fleas like to develop. After 14 days you should repeat the application to get any late developing fleas. Be sure all of your pets are out of the area while you do the application and they can safely return after the areas have dried.

AOnslaught is labeled for ticks and will do a great job for you when used as directed on the product label.

June 19, 2012 William from Nc asked:

QOur pets are outside and were briefly inside causing an indoor problem.
Must I treat outside if they are NEVER allowed inside again. We have also started Advantage on the pets.

AYou should also treat outdoors to get rid of the fleas in that area or you could risk transferring the fleas indoors on your shoes or other items that come in the house. Failing to treat the areas where your pets reside will also insure that they keep getting bitten by the fleas in that area. Advantage will only kill fleas after they have bitten your animals.

June 5, 2012 Neal from Panama City, Fl asked:

QI ordered your flea indoor/outdoor kit Sprayed 3 weeks ago and sprayed again. Still have fleas outside
Dead animal under trailer house was orginal cause of problem. Damn is there any hope

AGetting rid of fleas can be frustrating because flea control can take 6-8 weeks because of the life cycle of the fleas. Be sure to spray the infested areas every 14 days to gain control. Concentrate on moist shady areas and areas where your pets may spend time resting.

May 7, 2012 Gary from Port O'connor, Texas asked:

QI have a lawn that has fleas, would Talstar applied to the lawn be successful?
How long will Talstar be effective on the lawn with exposure to the sun, rain, mowing etc? Also, is it effective immediately?

ATalstar is a great product, but will degrade much faster in sunlight than the product in our outdoor flea kit, Onslaught.  For outdoor flea control you should strongly consider our Outdoor Flea Kit. This kit contains Onslaught which is a broad spectrum insecticide which can be used as a broadcast spray for both indoor and outdoor infestations. The kit also contains Martins IGR which will help break the breeding cycle of the fleas for long term control.

QHow do you treat an area that has fleas really bad?
This area was an old dog pin.

AYou should consider using our Outdoor Flea Kit. The kit includes 1 pint of Onslaught insecticide to knockdown the adult fleas and 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Martins IGR to stop flea growth and reproduction.  We've included these products in the kit because they are easy to use, effective, and safe to use in your yard and inside the home. March 25, 2012 Sarah from Fort Walton Beach, Fl asked:

QHow to treat my yard for fleas when my yard is mostly sand and dirt?
My yard is relatively small and doesnt have much grass. It is mostly a mix of loose floridian sand and dark soil and leaves from my tree which i keep raked as much as possible. What would you recommend for flea treatment? I saw that many of the granules work by "settling deep into the base of grass". Considering I dont have grass what would you recommend as a solution?

AWe recommend using a liquid insecticide such as Onslaught. Onslaught can be sprayed directly on soil and on non-edible vegetation to control fleas. We also recommend adding an insect growth regulator to help stop the flea cycle in your yard. IGR's work to help stop juvenile fleas (eggs and pupa) from developing into sexually mature adults. You can purchase our Outdoor/Indoor flea kit which contains both products that you will need for outdoor flea treatments. Both products are labeled for indoor flea treatments if you find you need to treat indoors as well. Onslaught can also be used for general pest control indoors and outdoors.

March 24, 2012 Sarah from Ft Walton Beach, Fl asked:

QWhat would you recommend for flea control on an outdoor screened patio?
My patio is carpeted with a very low pile outdoor type carpet. It is very susceptible to moisture when it rains because the porch is merely screened in. I do have a dog, cats, and young children who come onto the porch to play and access the yard. I'm not sure what products would be safe for this application because many indoor pesticides are poisonous to mammals when wet and many outdoor style pesticides are specifically designed for outdoor only applications (yeah I know that's a no brainer)and require watering in which won't work on a porch. What would you recommend for flea control in this area?

AYou are correct that there are many products on our site for flea control but most of which you would not want to get wet over and over when it rains if applied in the sun room.  Since fleas are either brought in by clothing or pets, or fleas would come inside from the outside perimeter of the sun room, your best option is to do proactive treatments around the perimeter of the sun room.  You should obviously keep flea medicine on your pets which you probably already do.  Outside in your yard and around the sun room, we would recommend applying our outdoor flea control kit.

September 11, 2011 Joy from Parkersburg, Wv asked:

QWill Onslaught kill fleas coming into my yard from my neighbor's yard if used in conjunction with an IGR?
Even though I treat my yard and dog pen, my neighbor doesn't. Her dog pen is adjacent to mine. Will Onslaught kill the fleas coming from her yard and dog pen?

AOnslaught will help with the flea infestation but you will need to reapply frequently (every 2 weeks) because of the constant influx of new fleas from your neighbors yard. We sell Onslaught with an IGR in our Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit for your convenience.

September 2, 2011 Jack from Nashville, Tn asked:

QI use Suspend SC. Daughter moved in w/cat that goes outside & brings fleas in. Additional treatment needed?
I am due for my regular overall treatment with Suspend SC, but wonder if there is something that I should do for truly effective control of the fleas that we notice on the cat. We are not experiencing any bites, etc. and I want to get it under control right off of the bat. The dog doesn't seem to bring home these little hitch hikers but she is in a treated yard, but the cat wanders.

ASuspend SC is great at killing most insects, including fleas, but it is not labeled to apply all over floor coverings which is normally what is required for treating fleas.  We do have an outdoor flea control kit which can also be used indoors.  This is our most popular flea control product.  In addition to applying this kit outdoors and indoors if there is an issue, you should have your pets treated and have Frontline or Advantage flea treatments applied regularly.

September 1, 2011 Todd from Crtstal Rivers Fla. asked:

QAre the products in the Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit safe around kids 2 years of age?
Will rain wash the products away?

ABoth the Onslaught and the Martins IGR that are included in the Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit are safe to use around children as long as you follow the product label. Children need to be out of the area while the products are being applied and they can return to the treated area as soon as it is dry. Both of the products in the Outdoor/Indoor Flea kit are rain safe as long as the products were applied to a dry surface and they have had time to dry before it rains. As a general rule of thumb you should have no rain the day of or the day after the application to insure the products have had time to bond to the surface so they will not be washed away with the rain.
