Pendulum AquaCap - 2.5 Gallon

Pendulum AquaCap contains BASF pendimethalin and is an effective water-based herbicide that provides preemergence control of weeds in turfgrass, landscape, noncropland areas and ornamental production. Pendulum will not control established weeds, rather it stops susceptible weeds from germinating and growing, eventually causing them to die before they ever emerge from the soil.

Active Ingredient: Pendimethalin - 38.7%
Target pests: Grasses: Barnyardgrass, Bluegrass annual (Poa annua), Crabgrass, Crowfootgrass, Foxtail (giant, green, yellow), Goosegrass, Itchgrass, Johnsongrass (from seed), Junglerice, Lovegrass (from seed), Panicum (browntop, fall, Texas), Sandbur (field), Signalgrass, Sprangletop (Mexican, red), Witchgrass, Woolly Cupgrass.

Broadleaf Weeds: Burweed (lawn), Carpetweed, Chickweed (common and mouseear), Clover (hop), Cudweed, Evening Primrose, Fiddleneck, Filaree, Henbit, Knotweed (prostrate), Kochia, Lambsquarters, Pigweed, Purslane, Pusley (Florida), Rocket (London), Shepherdspurse, Smartweed (Pennsylvania), Speedwell (corn), Spurge (annual and prostrate), Woodsorrel (yellow), Velvetleaf (Buttonweed).
For use in: Pendulum AquaCap can be used in lawn and landscape areas as well as roadsides, parking lots, fence lines and nurseries and tree plantation sites

Manufactured By: BASF

Pendulum AquaCap herbicide encapsulates a water-based formulation of the industry’s leading preemergent active ingredient – BASF pendimethalin – in an ultra-thin capsule. This BASF patented technology allows Pendulum AquaCap to deliver:

  • A highly effective and economical preemergent weed control option for field- and container-grown nursery stock, including newly transplanted field- and container-grown nursery stock; established field- and container-grown nursery stock; ornamental bulbs; wildflowers; landscape plantings; and bareground for container placement.
  • Effective control for a wide range of weed species – more than 40 grassy and broadleaf weeds.
  • Virtually no odor and ease of use through equipment with water clean-out of tank.
  • Excellent preemergent weed control on ornamental plants in landscapes.

Pendulum AquaCap is labeled for use in:
Ornamentals: Field and container nurseries, Christmas trees and other forest tree nurseries, landscape or grounds maintenance and non-bearing fruit, nuts and vines
Turf: Golf courses, residential and commercial lawns, sod farms and athletic fields
Noncropland Areas: Noncropland areas

Uniform application of Pendulum AquaCap over the treated area is essential for effective control. The herbicide must be applied prior to weed germination. Efficacy will be improved if application is followed by one-half inch of rainfall or its equivalent in sprinkler irrigation.

    4 of 5 Stars  excellent
By Dennis in Smith, Nevada on March 24, 2012

I have used this product for three seasons now and it cuts my weed growth down by 90%. It last for about 90 days. I like the fact that it turns the ground brown when sprayed so you know where you sprayed, the brown disapates in about two weeks.

2 of 5 Stars  Does not control sandburs as stated on label
By DD in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 16, 2013

We need something to control sandburs - the label says this product will control them - but it did not work for us. We used this product in conjunction with an herbicide. This would kill the existing sandbur grass and prevent the sanbur grass from reemerging later. This is a very expensive pre-emergent product that does not work on the one pest we need and want to control.

  • 5 of 5 Stars  Gotcha, Stiltgrass!
By Tom in Telford PA on June 9, 2015
    Verified Purchase

As far as I can see I am completely free of Japanese Stiltgrass and several other weeds. Best stuff I've ever used. It does what it says. Can't beat their prices either. It is a little messy to handle but works well with my 8 gallon electric sprayer. The yellow dye helps to show where you've sprayed to minimize waste. Clean your sprayer well immediately after use. Wear gloves and long sleeves and flush any spillage right away. You'll be pleased.

April 18, 2011 Dean asked:

QHow much Pendulum Aquacap should I use per gallon of water?
I have a 25 gal sprayer but only want to use the wand to spray around white pine with Pendulum Aquacap?

AThe first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Pendulum Aquacap is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of area. You will need to use 1.6 - 3.2 oz of Pendulum per 1,000 sq ft of area. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and moving and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.6-3.2 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application to ensure best results.

February 24, 2012 Denise from Lebanon, Or asked:

QHow many ounces of Pendulum Aquacap per gallon of water for use in residential flower beds?

AThe first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Pendulum is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of area. Use too much and you risk damaging desirable plants, use too little and you will not get adequate results. According to page 10 of the Pendulum Aquacap product label you will need to use 1.6 - 3.2 fl oz per 1000 sq ft of area. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix with the 1.6 - 3.2 fl oz of Pendulum for each 1,000 sq ft area. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.

February 15, 2012 Steve from Yukon, Ok asked:

QHow many days following application do you have to apply 1/2" irrigation?, (or wait for rain!)

AAccording to the Pendulum AquaCap product label (page 4) erratic weed control may result if the product is not watered in within 30 days. We do recommend that you water in the product as soon as possible after application for best results.

QHow many ounces of Pendulum AquaCap do i use per gallon for a hose sprayer?
I understand the 3.2 oz per 1000 square feet but I have over 1/2 acre I need to spray and I'm using an adjustable sprayer on the end of a hose with no way of telling how much water I'm using. I can set the sprayer to feed "X" amount of ounces per gallon. There has to be a general guidline.

A

When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.6-3.2 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated.
