Pendulum 3.3 EC - 2.5 Gallons

Pendulum 3.3 EC (EC stands for Emulsifiable Concentrate) is a professional OIL BASED formulation of pendimethalin and controls over 40 types of broadleaf weeds and target grasses. Pendulum will not control established weeds, rather it is a pre-emergent that stops susceptible weeds from germinating and growing, eventually causing them to die before they ever emerge from the soil. Comes in a 2.5 gallon jug of concentrate.

Pendulum 3.3 EC is an OIL BASED product. It also has a yellowing agent that can stain hard surfaces such as driveways and sidewalks.

I have used this before and really enjoy it. However, I will try the water soluble only because it does not leave stains (yellow).  Excellent product.

I received the product within the time indicated and used it immediately. The price was the best I found anywhere and the free shipping was a nice plus. I have used the product but since it is a pre emergent it will be several weeks before I can say how well it works. I would definitely buy from this company again.

I only recently applied the preemergent so I cant state how long it lasts yet but it has stopped weeds from starting so far. The product is colored when applied so you know where you have used it without over useing on top of sprayed ground. This product is very concentrated and for the money is very much less expensive then anything I have paid for at the big-box stores.

By Dave in Weaverville, NC on 02/25/2012

I have put down the first application per instructions on about 7,000 sqft. The application is probably early from normal standards but we've been having a very warm winter in WNC and I don't want to get caught on the wrong side of the germination cycle. It's too early to tell if the product works but the application went smoothly and yes I had to be careful as the product does stain yellow.

By Ej in NC on 02/08/2017

A lawn care person recommended this product four years ago. We've applied once, sometimes twice, each year since. It defiantly knocks down the crab grass. The only thing we'll do different is apply more often. Our winters are warmer than in years past and shorter, so we get clover and such in January and Feb. Good product. Works for me.

Used for first time last year. Worked well on my 4 acre yard. Need to reapply in 8 weeks for season long control. Cost per acre was why I chose this product over the Pendulum Aquacap and Dimension

By 1jfxdgjfxcj in columbus, NE on 06/06/2014

I use this for pre-emergent control of sandburs. Works well if you time the application properly (and its way cheaper per acre than the alternatives). This stuff is a bit unpleasant to work with however. It stains everything yellow.

It does color everything yellow including drive ways. Mixed with blue dye and the dye goes away much quicker leaving yellow. Will feel better if all of my stickers don't come up.

QHow many ounces of Pendulum 3.3 EC do I need to use per gallon of water?

AThe first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Pendulum is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 1.3 - 1.8 oz of Pendulum per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.3-1.8 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.

QWhats the difference in Pendulum 3.3 EC vs Pendulum Aqua Cap besides the 1.3% difference in the A.I?
And why is there such a big difference in pricing?

A

Pendulum 3.3 EC is an OIL BASED product.  It also has a yellowing agent that can stain hard surfaces such as driveways and sidewalks. As an alternative, we sell Pendulum AquaCap which is a newer formulation with the same active ingredient that is water-based, easier to mix and use and does not contain the yellowing agent.  The AquaCap is a newer product with different technology to prevent the staining so the research put into developing it has caused the higher price.

QCan I use Pendulum 3.3 EC to control purslane in a vegetable garden?

ANo, Pendulum 3.3 EC cannot be used in a vegetable garden. We do have one herbicide that can be used in vegetable gardens, Fertilome Over the Top II (be sure the vegetables you are growing are listed on the product label before use) however, it is not labeled for purslane.  Unfortunately, weed control in vegetable gardens is beyond our expertise. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and ask to speak to the master gardener on staff to receive more information on weed control in a vegetable garden.

QWhat is the best time of year (month in Kansas) to apply Pendulum 3.3 EC?
I need to apply it how long before a rain to be effective? How soon after application does it need to rain to be effective? Is it ap 90 oz per acre?

A

Pre-Emergents like Pendulum 3.3 EC should be applied before the weeds start to germinate. We suggest that you contact you local Extension Office††to get the best time for your area. The efficacy of this product will improve if followed by 1 1/2" of rainfall or its equivalent in sprinkler irrigation. If it is not activated by rainfall or irrigation within 30 days, erratic weed control may result. You apply it at 1.3 - 1.8 oz per 1000 sq ft or 3.6 to 4.8 pts per acre.†

QCan Pendulum and Celsius be mixed in the same tank?
Just want to mix once and spray once. I have some sedge I want to kill and get my preemergent down now to prevent more weeds. Also wondering if it's possible to prevent nutsedge?

A

You could potentially mix multiple herbicides together as long as you have the correct dilution rates for the products and your timing is still accurate. Just remember that you will need to use sufficient volume with pre-emergent herbicides such as Pendulum 3.3 EC to carry the active ingredient into the soil through the thatch of grass. We would also suggest performing a small jar test before mixing a large batch to be sure new mixtures are compatible.

Pennant Magnum and Specticle FLO are pre-emergent herbicides that can help prevent nutsedge.

QHow soon can I plant bermudagrass (hydroseeding) after applying Pendulum 3.3 EC?
I'm located in Fountain Inn, SC. Pendulum was applied March 31.

A

Per the product label, you should delay reseeding or winter overseeding of treated turfgrasses until at least 3 months after the last application of Pendulum 3.3 EC.

QWhat should I do if I applied too much Pendulum 3.3?
I applied Pendulum 3.3 to my lawn and looks like I may have driven too slow in the front where I had lost of weeds , plus we did not have any rain for a week and temperatures reached up in the 80's therefore my lawn turned brown. we are now getting 3/4 of an inch of rain and no noticeable changes, will a low does of fertilizer or lime help to bring it back?

A

Pendulum does not affect grass or weeds that are already there. It is only a pre-emergent and will prevent weeds from emerging. It should not have damaged your lawn. A fertilizer can be used. We would recommend checking out our Cool Season Lawn Guide for tips and instructions on when to do fertilize, seed, etc. your lawn.†

QWill Pendulum 3.3 EC keep Kentucky bluegrass from germinating?
I need to reseed my yard really bad but I just applied Pendulum 3.3

A

Because Pendulum 3.3 EC is a pre-emergent herbicide, meaning it is designed to prevent listed plants from growing, it would potentially keep Kentucky bluegrass or other turf from germinating.†You should not plan†to re-seed or overseed at the same time or close to the herbicide application. Per page 6 of the product label, "Delay reseeding or winter overseeding of treated turfgrass for at least months following the last Pendulum 3.3 EC application. Delay sprigging turfgrass for five months after application. Tenacity Herbicide and Tupersan 50 WP Herbicide can be used at seeding of Kentucky bluegrass. Please refer to the product labels for complete application instructions.

QCan I overseed perennial rye grass in my lawn either before of after Pendulum 3.3 is applied?
Will the lawn seed germinate?

A

It is recommended that you wait at least three months after applying Pendulum 3.3 EC to reseed or overseed your turfgrass. It is also recommended that you allow the turf to recover prior to making an application of the product.

QIs Pendulum 3.3 EC safe to use in areas where small dogs are and walk?
after weeds have been sprayed could it be harmful for dogs that eat the grass or green weeds that where sprayed, as this is a natural thing for dogs to do.

A

Pets and other people should stay out of areas treated with Pendulum 3.3 EC Herbicide during application and at least until the product is dry. Often the primary reason for this is to make sure that walking around on the wet application does not disturb it, rather than because of health concerns. You may view all the product documents we have if you scroll down on the product page linked above.

QIf my Pendulum 3.3 EC freezes, can I still use it after it thaws?

A

As long as†Pendulum 3.3 EC was only frozen for a very short period of time, and if after it was thawed out it went back into a solution (the way it usually looks) it should be fine to use. However, if it appears that there are particles floating at the top, the product appears discolored, or the product will not go back into a solution, it should be discarded and replaced. Be mindful that Pendulum 3.3 EC should be kept out of extreme temperatures and kept in a room temperature environment out of direct sunlight.
