5 of 5 Stars  Japanese Beetles
By Hildegard on July 16, 2010

My yard had literally thousand of beetles this year. In my 50 years of gardening I never encountered any until last year. They loved the Crepe Myrtles, Virginia creeper, Pussy Willow, blooms on the Oak Hydrangea, and I even had them on the Echinacea petals and inside the Day lily blossoms. Permethrin SFR, just 10 cc per gallon of water had them eliminated within 2 days.  There are just a few stragglers now and in the last few days. Doing it myself saved me much money, thank you for making it available to the private consumer.  Directions must be followed to avoid damage to plants and/or pets. I had no unwanted results this way.

5 of 5 Stars  Flea infestation
By Mark on May 18, 2012

Had a major flea infestation, probably wasted 2 weeks trying to get control of the problem with store products, don't waste your time with local store killers. Found do my own pest control, purchased permethrin and an igr and immediately got control of the situation. With a major infestation, don't be surprised if you have to make several applications over a 2 week period and thats due to the flea life cycle, but this stuff is the best and a local exterminator agreed.

5 of 5 Stars  Great Product
By Daniel on September 26, 2010

I ordered the Permethrin after a little online research. It worked very well. I have no signs of fire ants all along my fence line or any more of those crazy Rasberry Ants either.....all after one application. As for domyownpestcontrol.com, they shipped the product as advertised in a very timely manner. I will definitely do business with them again.

Bought for a tick infestation in Miami, Florida. Product is highly concentrated, so it's very economical for use with a hose sprayer for treating lawn. Seemed to be effective, particularly when combined with Preventic collars on the dogs. Ordering was easy and they shipped very quickly.

By Nan on April 10, 2014

I like this product, I use it to get rid of fleas, ticks and termites. I spray the yard front and back and then all around the home and garage. I have used it for years and i am pleased with it. You have to be careful using it around pets, i wait a few hours before i let my dogs out in the back yard after spraying, to be cautious.

This product is easy to use and it works. For home use to control almost all the pests around the house inside and out. Used in Arizona for termites, scorpion's, or any spider, this product does the job. I use it at a medium strength concentration and have used it for a couple years. Thanks for providing such a good home use product :)

5 of 5 Stars  This stuff works!
By Travis on October 31, 2013

Our vet for some reason changed the flea medicine for our dogs and the new medicine didn't work and our home got a large infestation of fleas. We live in the country on a farm and our two dogs are both inside and outside dogs. I mixed Permethrin SFR 36.8 % according to instructions in a 32 oz. spray bottle with water and my wife sprayed our house using up one bottle of the mix on her first spraying and 1/2 of another bottle on her next spraying about a week later. That was about a month ago and not a single flea is left. The dogs are back on the correct anti-flea topical medication and all is well!

A family member told us about this product and how great it is. Our problem was from spider webs forming anywhere and everywhere. This is such a great product to get rid of any insects and bugs. Sprayed it around our home and inside. Haven't had a spider web in over a week and no bugs either. Love it....

We have an acre lot that was literally crawling with ants - we tried everything we could buy at the local store and every home remedy we could find on the internet - then we read about Permethrin, which I believe is derived from Chrysanthemum plants and it works INCREDIBLY well - now we just follow up periodically finding the anthills and spraying every month or so -

February 24, 2012 Sherri from Newport Beach, Ca. asked:

QWill Permethrin SFR kill black widow and brown recluse spiders? Is it safe for gardens, children, and pets?
will permethrin sfr get rid of black widows and brown widows or is there a better product for these spiders? Please tell me the dangers for small children, animals and an organic garden. Thank you

ABrown recluse spiders and black widow spiders share the same biology as every other species of spiders and are not any harder to kill than other spiders. Permethrin SFR is labeled for spiders and should do a great job in helping you eliminate spiders in and around your home. Permethrin SFR is safe around children and pets as long as they are kept out of the area during the application and they do not return to the area until it is dry. Permethrin SFR should not be used in an organic garden because it is a synthetic product and it is not labeled for use on most types of edible plants.

May 16, 2011 Nacho asked:

QCan I use Permethrin SFR on my dog? If so, how much product should I use per gallon of water?
I just got a 3 yr old pit bull and he has lots of ticks.

AYes, you can use Permethrin SFR on your dog. You should use ¼ fl. oz of product to 1¼ gallons water then thoroughly wet the animal to the skin with sponge or rag. Let drip dry. You can find these instructions on page 16 of the Permethrin SFR product label which we have linked in this answer for your convenience but is always available on the Permrthrin SFR product page.

September 9, 2011 Branch from Milton, Ma asked:

QUsing Permethrin SFR how many oz per quart water for mix of .5%?

AYou will need to use 1 2/3 fl. oz. for each gallon of water to get a 0.5% ratio. If you only need to mix one quart of solution at a time you will need to use just under 1/2 (0.43) oz of Permethrin SFR per quart of water to get a 0.5% mixture.

QSolo 451 fogger and permethrin sfr 36.8 to treat noseeums at what mix do I use 1.23 oz per one us gallon ?
The fogger also has a rate at which the formula is applied ? The box was really messed up, it looks like UPS had to repack the solo box. Everything looks ok. Have not started until I know the mix for lawn, bushes, garage, mangroves and fruit trees

A If you are treating around the perimeter of your home, foliage, ornamentals then you would mix 0.8 fluid ounce of Permethrin SFR 36.8% per gallon of water and apply with your Solo 451 Mist Blower.

QCan Permethrin SFR 36.8% - 1 Quart be used in a thermal fogger?

A We do not recommend using Permethrin SFR 36.8% in a fogger. Depending on what and how you are treating for you could use a product like Shockwave in a thermal fogger.

October 22, 2013 Lucinda from Gonzales, La asked:

QShould I use Permethrin SFR or Hy-Yield 38 Plus for red ants?
I am having a bad problem with red ants coming inside of my home from under the doors. I am currently using the Talstar granules which kills the ants, but I keep finding dead ants that have come inside.

A The Permethrin SFR 36.8% and the Hi-Yield 38% Plus both have the same active ingredient and will give comparable results so either would be a good choice as a barrier spray around the home and door and window frames.

October 16, 2013 Nelson from Clinton,nc asked:

QWhat do I spray to kill pine beetles?
I have about 10 acres of long leaf pine trees that are in rows. We harvest the pine straw to sell but the trees are dying in sections and I found out it was pine beetles. What do I spray and do I use the boom or spray the sections that are infested with a wand I guess each tree that has it or what thanks nelson

A Unfortunately, there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a product called Permethrin SFR. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations.

October 13, 2013 Eric from Kansas City, Mo asked:

QIf I use this does it need to be 1:1 to make a 5% solution? Also, what strength does Permethrin need to be to kill human and or animal mites on contact? To spray surfaces, bedding and furniture.

A Permethrin SFR cannot be used on humans or in residential areas to control mites. We recommend getting a proper identification of the mite by a local pest control or your local extension office.

August 8, 2013 D. from Anderson, Indiana asked:

QCan Permethrin SFR be used as a soil drench to kill ash borers? If so, what is the mixture ratio?

A Permethrin SFR would not be a recommended product as a soil drench for Ash Borers as it is not a systemic and will only kill the insects that contact the treated soil.  Dominion 2L is labeled to use on trees to help protect against boring beetles. Treatments should begin in May or June and should be done every year to protect trees from the Emerald Ash Borers. Most people use a 5 gallon bucket or a large watering can to apply Dominion as a soil drench. You will need 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Dominion 2L per inch of trunk diameter for trees. It is recommended that you use the higher rate for boring beetles. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per inch of trunk diameter for trees but you may use 1 quart -1 gallon of water per inch of trunk diameter for trees. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested.  Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. After the soil drench has been applied you should water it in with at east 1/2 inch of water. Note: Water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone is achieved. Insecticides applied to the soil are taken up by the roots and trans-located throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 10-14 days after applications to encourage uptake.
