5 of 5 stars  Flea infestation
By Mark in Ft Worth, Tx on 05/18/2012
    Verified Purchase

Had a major flea infestation, probably wasted 2 weeks trying to get control of the problem with store products, don't waste your time with local store killers. Found do my own pest control, purchased permethrin and an igr and immediately got control of the situation. With a major infestation, don't be surprised if you have to make several applications over a 2 week period and thats due to the flea life cycle, but this stuff is the best and a local exterminator agreed.

5 of 5 stars  Japanese Beetles
By Hildegard in Saint Peters, MO on 07/16/2010

My yard had literally thousand of beetles this year. In my 50 years of gardening I never encountered any until last year. They loved the Crepe Myrtles, Virginia creeper, Pussy Willow, blooms on the Oak Hydrangea, and I even had them on the Echinacea petals and inside the Day lily blossoms. Permethrin SFR, just 10 cc per gallon of water had them eliminated within 2 days.  There are just a few stragglers now and in the last few days. Doing it myself saved me much money, thank you for making it available to the private consumer.  Directions must be followed to avoid damage to plants and/or pets. I had no unwanted results this way.

5 of 5 stars  Great Product
By Daniel in Deer Park, TX on 09/26/2010

I ordered the Permethrin after a little online research. It worked very well. I have no signs of fire ants all along my fence line or any more of those crazy Rasberry Ants either.....all after one application. As for domyownpestcontrol.com, they shipped the product as advertised in a very timely manner. I will definitely do business with them again.

Bought for a tick infestation in Miami, Florida. Product is highly concentrated, so it's very economical for use with a hose sprayer for treating lawn. Seemed to be effective, particularly when combined with Preventic collars on the dogs. Ordering was easy and they shipped very quickly.

Excellent product. Knocks 'em down, and residual keeps 'em down. We have two older horses left at this time to take care of. I keep the corral cleaned up everyday, and spray with this product. I've tried others, but this is the one that works. Great service from DoMyOwnPestControl.com, and best price around. Very happy customer.

Have had great results using on my pine and other trees. Also spray the tall grass on my acreage for ticks so I don't have to treat the dog. Have been using for several years. Not seen any bag worms since I started using it also.

5 of 5 stars  Permethrin for U S Army treatment of clothing
By Ken in Warrensburg, MO on 06/29/2016

I diluted the 36.8% quart of 36.8% Permethrin SFR with 11 gal of water (That's a 1:44 ratio) to make a 0.83% concentration. I soaked a few batches of camo clothing, socks, guille suit, etc. for an hour or so each. Then I hung them to drip dry. It was easy. You just have to use Nytrile gloves. You can use the remainder to spray boots and things you can't submerge. Once dry, the only harm is to the insects , chiggers, and ticks that attack. They either drop off or drop dead. Works great!

By Ben in Boca raton on 06/25/2016

I sprayed this in conjunction with Talstar and nyguard igr. I have used the Talstar and nyguard before but didn't get the initial knockdown, (it would take around 5 days to take affect) by adding permethrin the results where noticeable the next morning. Has been a week now and no bites on my dog or son. Using this combination usually lasts about 60 days during summer months and 90+ during "winter"

By Jason in Middletown, VA on 06/22/2016

If you look at the primary ingredient in most fly sprays they are permethrin. Buy this bottle and mix as directed and you can refill bottles all season. For the cost of one or two bottles of "equine" spray you can mix multiple gallons of the same effective ingredient. Change the prescription (per label) and you can spray stable areas or use on other livestock or domestic pets. Small syringe and spot apply like the little packets you pay dearly for.

By Gene in Coral Gables, Florida on 06/16/2016

Can't ask for more than that. I use it on my dogs (diluted 100:1) 3x a day (special mixture including PVP-I to kill the microbes carried by fleas and ticks). It is... amazing. Here in Florida, ticks and fleas are endemic and ubiquitous. My four large (4...yup!) dogs haven't had a flea or a tick on them in 18 months, thanks in part to this product (and my mixture). If you write me, I'll tell you how to make it...free! (I sell it on Amazon.)

QWill Permethrin SFR kill black widow and brown recluse spiders? Is it safe for gardens, children, and pets?
will permethrin sfr get rid of black widows and brown widows or is there a better product for these spiders? Please tell me the dangers for small children, animals and an organic garden. Thank you

ABrown recluse spiders and black widow spiders share the same biology as every other species of spiders and are not any harder to kill than other spiders. Permethrin SFR is labeled for spiders and should do a great job in helping you eliminate spiders in and around your home. Permethrin SFR is safe around children and pets as long as they are kept out of the area during the application and they do not return to the area until it is dry. Permethrin SFR should not be used in an organic garden because it is a synthetic product and it is not labeled for use on most types of edible plants.

QUsing Permethrin SFR how many oz per quart water for mix of .5%?

AYou will need to use 1 2/3 fl. oz. for each gallon of water to get a 0.5% ratio. If you only need to mix one quart of solution at a time you will need to use just under 1/2 (0.43) oz of Permethrin SFR per quart of water to get a 0.5% mixture.

QIs Permethrin SFR 36.8% the best product for drenching ant mounds?
I live in So. AZ in rural area. I have several kinds of ants but some have large colonies in the dry lot area where my livestock spend time. I want to either get rid of them entirely or at least knock them back so they don't get bigger. I currently spray every other day with Home Defense but they just come back quickly. I need a strong product as well as the best method to use it. I want something I can use around the house as well. Thanks

A

Permethrin SFR can be used to drench ant mounds in animal areas. Per the product label: "Apply 1-2 gallons of emulsion to each mound area by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat a 4 foot diameter circle around the mound. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12 inches. For best results, apply in cool weather, such as in early morning or late evening hours, but not in the heat of the day."

If you are treating in a grazing area or pasture, then we would suggest doing the same application using Essentria All Purpose insecticide, which does not have grazing restrictions.

QCan I use Suspend SC or Talstar P to treat a poultry house for lice and mites?
Does Suspend or Talstar work in killing and/or preventing lice in an outdoor chicken coup?

A

Talstar P is not labeled for lice. Suspend SC is labeled for lice, however, it is not labeled for use inside of chicken coops.

We would recommend using something like Permethrin SFR in the area. It is labeled for lice and mites in poultry houses. The mixing ratio is 1 2/3 fl. oz. of product per gallon of water.

QHow many square feet does a 1.25 gallon of Permethrin SFR 36.8% cover outside?

A

The amount of area that a gallon of Permethrin SFR 36.8% treats will depend on what you are treating for. If you are using this for general use, you will use 1 2/3 fl. oz. per gallon of water. This will make approximately 99 gallons of solution and will cover 99,000 square feet. This is over two acres.

QWill Permethrin SFR 36.8% kill roaches of various kinds?
In a small apartment constantly being invaded by neighbors pest

A

Yes, Permethrin SFR 36.8% is a non-selective insecticide, so it would kill roaches of any species or size that come into contact with the direct spray or residual. If you are only seeing roaches occasionally and need a residual spray to create a barrier, then you have many options. Temprid SC is water-based and contains two active ingredients for longer control. It also does not have the odor that sprays with permethrin will have. If you are seeing different life stages and/or seeing roaches consistently, then we would recommend our Roach Control Kit Rotation A. Please see our Roach Treament Guide for more information and tips.

QCan Permethrin SFR 36.8% be added to house paint?
Does it kill termites?

A

Permethrin SFR cannot be added to house paint to other coatings or materials. Permethrin will kill termites on contact, but it is not recommend for treating or preventing termite infestations. Please see our Termite Treatment Guide for the best recommendations for this pest. If you would like to treat wood to help prevent termite infestations, the best product is Boracare. You can apply paint, stain, or sealant after a Boracare applicaiton is dry.

QCan a mist blower be used with Permethrin SFR?
Can a mist blower be used with Permethrin SFR for mosquito control? How long will it be effective?

A

Permethrin SFR can be used in a mist blower when used as directed on the product label, but it is not labeled for mosquito control. We recommend folks use a product such as Talstar P for a long lasting residual for mosquito control. Talstar cannot be used in a fogger but it can be used in mist blower, hand pump sprayer or a hose end sprayer for mosquito control. Talstar P would need to be applied once a month for mosquito control.

QDoes Permethrin SFR work on bed bugs, and if so how long does it last after you have sprayed?

A

We would not recommend Permethrin SFR 36.8% for a bed bug treatment because they can easily grow resistance. We would definitely recommend something more like Temprid SC because it has two active ingredients that actually work against bed bugs that may have resitance to other products. We would recommend that you check our guide on How to get rid of bed bugs for more detailed information.

Depending on the mix ratio used and how heavily you sprayed, it could be anywhere from just as the product has has had time to dry, or several hours after application before the smell of the Permethrin SFR completely goes away.
