5 of 5 stars  Flea infestation
By Mark in Ft Worth, Tx on 05/18/2012
    Verified Purchase

Had a major flea infestation, probably wasted 2 weeks trying to get control of the problem with store products, don't waste your time with local store killers. Found do my own pest control, purchased permethrin and an igr and immediately got control of the situation. With a major infestation, don't be surprised if you have to make several applications over a 2 week period and thats due to the flea life cycle, but this stuff is the best and a local exterminator agreed.

5 of 5 stars  Japanese Beetles
By Hildegard in Saint Peters, MO on 07/16/2010

My yard had literally thousand of beetles this year. In my 50 years of gardening I never encountered any until last year. They loved the Crepe Myrtles, Virginia creeper, Pussy Willow, blooms on the Oak Hydrangea, and I even had them on the Echinacea petals and inside the Day lily blossoms. Permethrin SFR, just 10 cc per gallon of water had them eliminated within 2 days.  There are just a few stragglers now and in the last few days. Doing it myself saved me much money, thank you for making it available to the private consumer.  Directions must be followed to avoid damage to plants and/or pets. I had no unwanted results this way.

5 of 5 stars  Great Product
By Daniel in Deer Park, TX on 09/26/2010

I ordered the Permethrin after a little online research. It worked very well. I have no signs of fire ants all along my fence line or any more of those crazy Rasberry Ants either.....all after one application. As for domyownpestcontrol.com, they shipped the product as advertised in a very timely manner. I will definitely do business with them again.

Bought for a tick infestation in Miami, Florida. Product is highly concentrated, so it's very economical for use with a hose sprayer for treating lawn. Seemed to be effective, particularly when combined with Preventic collars on the dogs. Ordering was easy and they shipped very quickly.

By J in Kihei, HI on 12/25/2015

My dog had ticks, so I mixed and sprayed per instructions mixed at 1/4 fl.oz per pint ... didn't do squat, so I decided to test on live ticks, and was able to verify out of 10 ticks 9 survived for more than 1 hour at the the rated concentration. Increased the dosage and tested again with double , but it did not kill all 10 ticks until I mixed 5/8 fl.oz to each pint. Maybe I got a bad batch, but I am going back to Talstar

    Expert Response   Expert response:
Please note that Permethrin is not a contact kill product. It can take 24-48 hours to kill in an insect after they have received a lethal dose of the product.

By Wally in Belle Plaine Mn on 08/02/2014

I have tried many things but now this works. Live in the country and have a fireworks party each year, the gnats and mosquitos are out for blood. I have tried many things with no results, but I sprayed the area the day before and the day of the party this year and it was totally bug free, everyone enjoyed the show and stayed much later afterwards.

5 of 5 stars  Ticks and Fleas
By Aleon in Mcallen, TX on 04/21/2013
    Verified Purchase

Gets the job done. I started using this last year for ticks and fleas indoors and out. Used about 1oz to 5 gals-water mix for the yard and after four applications (just finished one bottle) using a "end hose sprayer" the ticks were gone and did not come back this year. Fleas are back, but I probably will have to spray every few weeks to get rid of them again which is expected as I have alley cats and dogs all around. I also dip my huskey with this after a regular bath using the same concentration and she's been real clean and happy since I started with this last year.

    5 of 5 stars  PermethrinSFR 36.8% 1.25gal.
By Tom in Salem, Arkansas on 07/17/2012

We had a mild winter here in Arkansas and the tick population exploded but it's useally bad anyway. My cat (I have ten strays) came down with Bobcat Fever (two other cats died while mine was in the vet), mine made it, I got Rocky MTN. Fever and Ehrlichia. NOTHING elese worked. To make sure I also purchased D-FENSE SC and ARCHER. Before I sprayed, I'd take at least six to ten Ticks off of just one cat BUT since I sprayed following the directions, I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE, PLUS no FLEAS or Chiggers. This is a FIRST, the only thing I ever written about a product was a complaint. I'm glad the products got here soo fast.

5 of 5 stars  This stuff is great for mosquitoes
By David in Opelousas, LA on 09/17/2011

I use a mist blower to spray this product on Louisiana mosquitoes. I use 2 oz per gallon of water. It flushes them out and kills them within minutes. Long lasting repellent effects also. After hurricane Lee sent us some water after a long dry summer, the mosquitoes hatched within a few days and there were thousands of them. I sprayed my yard and my sisters yard with this, and a week afterward there still aren't any mosquitoes. I highly recommend getting a mist blower, they are expensive but the only effective way I know of to treat large areas with a fine mist which lands on the mosquitoes in the air and also where they hide in brush and tree leaves. Also use mosquito dunks in ditches and other places which hold standing water, this kills the mosquito larvae before they can become biting adults.

QWill Permethrin SFR kill black widow and brown recluse spiders? Is it safe for gardens, children, and pets?
will permethrin sfr get rid of black widows and brown widows or is there a better product for these spiders? Please tell me the dangers for small children, animals and an organic garden. Thank you

ABrown recluse spiders and black widow spiders share the same biology as every other species of spiders and are not any harder to kill than other spiders. Permethrin SFR is labeled for spiders and should do a great job in helping you eliminate spiders in and around your home. Permethrin SFR is safe around children and pets as long as they are kept out of the area during the application and they do not return to the area until it is dry. Permethrin SFR should not be used in an organic garden because it is a synthetic product and it is not labeled for use on most types of edible plants.

QUsing Permethrin SFR how many oz per quart water for mix of .5%?

AYou will need to use 1 2/3 fl. oz. for each gallon of water to get a 0.5% ratio. If you only need to mix one quart of solution at a time you will need to use just under 1/2 (0.43) oz of Permethrin SFR per quart of water to get a 0.5% mixture.

QWhat is the best product to get rid of ticks when you have about a 1/2 acre of trees on your property?
I am buying a house that has a lot of trees on the property and I am worried about ticks. Please tell me the best product to get rid of ticks when you have about a 1/2 acre of trees on your property. All the products I read about talk about minimizing ticks in gardens or grassy areas.

AThe best products we can recommend for tick control would be the Permethrin SFR mixed with the NyGuard IGR. The Permethrin SFR is the killing agent that will kill and repel the ticks in the areas that you treat. The NyGuard IGR is a birth control to keep the ticks from reproducing and to keep immature stages of the ticks from growing into reproducing adults. These two products can be mixed together and sprayed at the same time for a letal combo to the tick population. Spraying with the Permethrin SFR every 2 weeks at first can be needed and then back off to every 30-60 days. The NyGuard will hold up typically 3-4 months outdoors.

QWhat setting do you recommend for applying this product to my lawn?

AThe mixing ratio for Permethrin SFR 36.8% on lawns is anywhere between 0.4 oz up to 0.8 oz per 1000 square feet or per gallon of water. A dial setting at half of an ounce per gallon on the hose end sprayer would be perfect.

QDoes permethrin SFR expire?
I bought some about a year ago but did not use it all. I need to use it again. Would it still work?

AMost all insecticides we sell do not have an expiration date, but most manufacturers place at least a 5 year shelf life on their products.  Most can last longer, but the manufacturers recommend you use them within at least 5 years, so your bottle is still plenty good.

QIs Permethrin SFR 38.8% the best choice for killing ticks in the yard and in the house?
Does it have any residual effects, or only on-contact killing? Any effect on unhatched tick eggs? Can it be diluted for use on dogs as a spray or dip?

APermethrin SFR does have a residual effect and a good knockdown quality which is why it is very popular for tick control.  The residual can be expected to last for about 30 days.  The Permethrin SFR will not penetrate tick eggs, however once a tick hatches it is very susceptible to the Permethrin and should die very quickly.  Permethrin can be diluted for application on animals.  Please read the product label for full instructions on treating animals.

QWill Permethrin SFR 36.8% kill Stink Bugs?
I live in Virginia where Stink Bugs have become an epidemic. The problem is increased when you kill them, as that is when they emit the most odor, which attracts more Stink Bugs.

APermethrin SFR will kill stink bugs but there are other products such as Cyper WP which lasts a bit longer and stays on the surface of porous areas making it more available to this pest. Unfortunately if you are dealing with them in your house right now you will only see limited results. Stink bugs move into structures to overwinter. They usually squeeze into wall voids, false ceilings, attics and other areas that are inaccessible to people and insecticides. As the heat kicks on in the house, the stink bugs warm up and start becoming active and emerge from hiding, driving homeowners nuts. Because most folks usually have no idea where the bugs are harboring you can only treat around baseboards, door frames and window frames and hope the insects will emerge where you have sprayed. After they contact the treated areas it can take several hours for them to die. It is still worth spraying now to get rid of some of the bugs, but you will keep seeing them until late spring when they will emerge en masse and leave your home. They do not eat, mate or lay eggs while indoors so need to worry about any damage or future baby stink bugs. This year you can be proactive by stopping these pests before they move in for the winter. You should spray Cyper WP outdoors around your door frames, window frames, vents, eaves, around the bottom of your foundation, and any other crack or crevice where an insect could gain entry once a month August-November. Most folks see a 80-90% reduction in stink bugs the first year and even better results in the following years as the stinkbug pheromone fades away.

QIs Permethrin SFR 36.8% safe to spray on plants in a garden?

AThe only edible vegetation that Permethrin SFR can be used on would be the fruit and nut trees listed on the product label. A more appropriate product for your needs would be Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor 10% Permethrin Insecticide. This particular product is formulated and labeled for use on many different types of edible vegetation including most veggies commonly grown in a home garden.

QIs Permethrin SFR good for Japanese beetle control?
Japanese beetle season is close. I have flowering trees and bushes that are affected by them... a flowering plum that last year was ravaged by them. Is this the spray of choice? What are the hazards? Have a dog and child but the trees and shrubs are not in their area.

APermethrin SFR is a great choice for Japanese Beetle control. Be sure to use it at the highest concentration, avoiding the blooms if possible (may cause browing). Permethrin SFR may need to be applied once per month to avoid Japanese beetle damage. Pets and children need to be out of the area while the application is being done and they may return as soon as the application is dry. The Permethrin SFR product label and MSDS are available on our site for further product information.
