Premise 2 Termiticide

Compare this product with its generic version Adonis 2F which yields 20 more gallons per bottle for less!

Premise termiticide products, by Bayer, are among our top picks for long-lasting, effective termite control. Premise 2 is generally used for treating localized areas of known subterranean termite activity, but it is also effective in controlling drywood and dampwood termites, borers and other wood-infesting insects in and around basements, attics, crawl spaces, voids, and damaged wood piles. Premise 2 is an excellent product for trenching and soil drenching, foaming, or for treating wood. Premise 2 works differently from other termiticide products that are designed to simply repel or keep termites away from the treated soil area without killing them. Premise is a non-repellent termiticide, meaning that termites do not detect that Premise is present. Premise creates an undetectable “Treated Zone®” around the home, where termites unknowingly eat treated cellulose or tunnel into treated soil. The exposed termites then remain unaffected for a few days, before sudden death occurs. In the meantime, the exposed termites are able to spread the Premise chemical to unexposed termites by physical contact when they feed or groom the other termites, resulting in a domino death effect which wipes out more of the colony. Imidacloprid, the active ingredient in Premise, is the most widely used insecticide in the world with a proven track record of success – less than one percent retreat rate.

Active Ingredient: Imidacloprid 21.4%
Target pests: Subterranean Termites, Drywood Termites, Dampwood Termites, Carpetner Ants, other Wood-Infesting Insects
For use in: In and around basements, attics, crawl spaces, hallow block foundations or voids, around wells or cisterns, or direct application to damaged wood
Pet safe: Yes, when used as directed
Yield: Approx. 30 Gallons

Tips for Use
· Before beginning a treatment, determine the location of underground utility lines, the main water line shut-off valve, and if there is radiant heat or sub-slab air ducts.
· In heavy clay soils, rod holes should be spaced 3-4 inches apart. In lighter and sandy soils, rod holes can be spaced 6-8 inches apart.
· Where the soil is heavy, PREMISE® 75 can be applied by reducing hole spacing, or by increasing the concentrations of Premise 75 two-fold in half the volume.
· Houses that have large settlement voids or sand fill should be treated by long rodding underneath the slab.
· Technicians should determine if air ducts in slabs are a perimeter system or a radial system before drilling and treating. Perimeter systems that run along the foundation can complicate treatment.
· Ducts made of cardboard, or that have rusted out, should be sealed, and a recommendation should be made to the homeowner to install an alternate system.
· Foaming void areas is an effective way to obtain complete coverage.
· Do not treat soil beneath structures that contain cisterns or wells. Consult state and local specifications for recommended distances of wells from the treated area.
· A borascope is a useful tool for determining what is located beneath a slab or behind a foundation wall.

    5 of 5 Stars  FANTASTIC!

It's likely that people become deeply concerned when they find out they have subterranean termites and don't know what to do. We felt this way. However, we researched and found this to be a wonderful and EASY treatment for subterranean termites! We've used Chinese chemicals before, and they are worthless. Bayer is a product we chose to try because we respect their quality control. Turns out to be a great choice! We mixed the heaviest strength as indicated and used a small hand sprayer around the perimeter of the house. They were EVERYWHERE and had done extensive damage. Three days later, not a termite in sight! Could not be happier!

I spoke to to few pest control people and they all say that they prefer this product for subterranean termites and drywood termites then other products, I save myself some money buying this and doing it myself.

3 of 5 Stars  Prompt Delivery

Prompt delivery. Unclear instructions on how to pour and use the measuring device built into the bottle. Will have to wait and see how effective the product is; hence the three rating

April 17, 2011Tyler asked:

QWhat is the length of Premise in the ground?
How long does premise last once it is in the soil?

APremise and most other termiticides containing Imidicloprid will last for 7 years in the soil.  You should re-treat after 7 years.  Termidor will last for 10 years.

January 6, 2010Jan asked:

QWill Premise penetrate wood and protect against termites?
I have been told by a pest control company that Premise will penetrate untreated wood, up to 1/8th of an inch, enhancing its exposure to termite infestations within post, beam, or stud. Can you corroborate this? Or is this an inaccurate claim?

AI do not believe that is accurate.  Premise Termiticide is a soil treatment meant to be placed into the ground.  It will last for 5 - 7 years when placed correctly into the soil.  Although you could spray wood with Premise and it may penetrate slightly into the wood and kill termites if they were present, Premise will not last long term on wood because it is not meant to.  There is a product made for wood treatment that will pentrate through the entire piece of wood and remain in the wood and protect it forever, and it is called Bora-Care.  It is very popular and widely used by pest control professionals.  If the company you speak of was going to go through the trouble of spraying the wood anyways then they should use Bora-Care.

January 17, 2012Mark from Phoenix Az asked:

QHow do I mix Premise 2 and apply it for a termite trench treatment?
i have 1 gallon sprayer would like to apply to trench around my foundation what is the mixing ratio and is poison in liquid or powder form? does the trench need to be flooded? maybe using a 5 gallon bucket.

APlease take a few moments to read our article How to do a Termite Treatment. This article will tell you in detail exactly how to do a liquid termite treatment and it will describe any and all equipment you will need. For typical termite barrier treatments you will use 8ml of Premise 2 per gallon of water and you will use 4 gallons of this solution for every 10 linear feet of trench.

January 7, 2011Gus asked:

QCan Premise 2 be used in tubes around foundation of the home?
How much product do I need per tube? Do you have to apply compressed air on the tubes? Do you dilute the 8 oz container with water? What is the ratio?

APremise 2 is not meant for home pest control tubes.  Typically, a different kind of pyrethrum solution is used but it must be forced through the tubes in the home using a compressed air system.  Since we do not sell the compressed air systems for the tubes we do not carry the solution normally used.  However, in many professionals opinion an outside perimeter treatment is better anyways than treating the tubes inside the walls.  This is because when you treat the outside perimeter of the home you will kill the bugs outside before they get into the walls.  We would recommend Talstar as it is the most popular general used insecticide that we sell.

May 3, 2012Mark from Wilmington, Ma asked:

QCan I combine Permise 2 with ProFoam to create multi-year lasting treatment inside a hollow block wall?
Example: as a longer lasting alternative to immeadiate kill foams like Premise 2 Foam. Potenitally even as an alternative tretment to trenching and drilling where the entire perimeter can be accessed via the block wall

APremise 2 is meant for treatment in the soil and is made to bond to soil.  It will not last on wood for a long period of time.  Maybe 2 to 3 months.  You should foam with Bora-Care which is a wood treatment product.  Bora-Care will last in the wood forever.
