Product Overview

Ditrac All-Weather Blox gets unsurpassed rodent acceptance and control. The multiple edges appeal to a rodent's desire to gnaw and each block is made with food-grade ingredients and small amounts of paraffin for a highly palatable bait. Ditrac works well in any condition -- wet or dry, indoors or out. A hole in the center of each block allows it to be placed on bait securing rods in bait stations, or nail or wire it in place.

Each 4 lb. Pail contains about 64 blox (28 gram/1 oz. ea.)

Each 18 lb. Bucket contains about 288 blox

Details

Ditrac Blox are especially well suited for damp or moist environments where other baits would degrade or spoil, such as riverbanks, gullies, irrigation ditches, sewers, garbage dumps and landfills. Ditrac blox work equally well in dry environments too!

Ditrac Blox contain the active ingredient, Diphacinone (an anticoagulant), which kills rats and mice with less chemical than many other anticoagulants. As with all rodent baits, rodents must be attracted to the bait in order to consume the required amount of poison. Ditrac Blox include food grade ingredients and they are formed into a "X" shape providing rats and mice with plenty of gnawing edges as well as a tasty food source.

Ditrac has a readily available antidote (Vitamin K1) in case of accidental ingestion by non-target animals. It is also a multi-feed bait which means that rodents must feed multiple times to receive a lethal dose of the rodenticide making it safer to use in residential environments.

How To Use Ditrac Blox

Bait blox should be placed inside of a tamper resistant bait station or out of reach of children and non-target animals. Bait placements should be made as close as possible to areas of rodent activity as possible. Bait placements should be inspected weekly and replaced if moldy or if insect activity is noticed. A constant supply of Ditrac blox should be made available in for at least 10 days.

    Ditrac

    By Barry on 05/01/2011

Recommended by our local pest control guy to eliminate rats in our bird (parrot) houses. It works very well. Now using it in the chicken house & plenty of dead rats. Works better than anything Tractor Supply offers.

    By Andrew on 08/21/2012

I began to notice activity at the feeding boxes the first night. Within a couple of days carcasses were showing up. A week after treatment started the mice were gone. Great product!

Q
What is the actual difference between Diphacinone (Ditrac) and the principal ingredient in Contrac?

I live in the woods, and do NOT want to attract chipmunks to the bait stations. I do NOT have rats, only a steady supply of field mice who I prefer not to share the inside of my home with me. The company I have been using has gone out of business, so I can no longer purchase Ditrac from them. Would Contrac be "safer" for the chipmunk population? I'm out of Ditrac and need to start something in my bait stations very very soon..... My bait stations resemble your Protecta Rat station, but mine have 2 locks and a plastic key. Would I be better off using a station with a smaller hole? All of my stations are outdoors, but outside of the fenced area where my dogs play.

A

Both Ditrac Blox and the Contrac Blox are anticoagulants but Ditrac is a multi-feed rodenticide (rodents would have to feed multiple times to build up a lethal dose) and Contrac is a single feed rodenticide (rodents usually obtain a lethal dose in just one feeding). Unfortunately, there is no way to know if chipmunks would be attracted to either of the baits. When dealing with mice the size of the bait stations is up to you.  If you would feel more comfortable with a station with smaller entry holes, the Protecta Mouse Bait Station would be a great choice. These stations are tamper resistant, lock with a key and are very sturdy.

Q
The rats are not eating the Ditrac All-Weather Blox.

I put this poison out in a Protecta box a couple of weeks ago. I just checked on the box and the bait is untouched. How can I attract the rats to the poison?

A

It is possible that the rats are not attracted to the Ditrac All Weather Blox because there is another food source available to them. We would recommend removing any type of food items (pet food possibly) and/or moving trash to another area. We would also recommend inspecting your home for areas that they can get in through. Check all doors, door frames, windows and window frames. Replace any weather stripping that does not create a tight seal. Replace any broken window panes. Replace any damaged window or door screens. Repair any gap, hole or crack around frames that are ¼” or larger. If gnawing damage is present on doors, a metal kickplate should be installed to prevent any additional gnawing.Inspect all trees and hedges near home. Any tree branches or hedges that touch or hang over the house should be cut back to prevent rodent from using them as pathways onto and into the house. Keep grass short and trim bottom of hedges or bushes to expose soil beneath and eliminate rodent harborage areas.Inspect the roof. Check shingles, roof ventilators and vent screens to be sure they are secure and undamaged, replacing or repairing as needed. Make sure the chimney is capped to prevent animal entry.Remove food and water sources when possible. Feed pets in the morning and remove any uneaten food immediately. Find and fix any leaking pipes or drains. Remove bird feeders if possible to eliminate the bird seed as a possible food source. Clean up any rodent feces and urine found during the inspection. Be sure to wear protective gloves and a respirator to avoid breathing in any fecal matter. Use a bleach solution to clean rodent nesting areas and entry points to get rid of any pheromones left behind that may attract future rodents.

Q
Why is Ditrac not available in NY but Contrac is? Which is better?
A
Ditrac actually is available for sale to New York.  We fixed this error on our website saying it was not available.  Ditrac is the slower acting of the the two (Ditrac & Contrac).  Contrac blox are by far the most popular and what we sell the most of.  They work great and rarely do not work.

Q
Do the blocks have a hole through them for wire hanging?
A
A hole in the center of each block allows it to be placed on bait securing rods in bait stations, or nail or wire it in place.

Q
Will Ditrac All-Weather Blox make my cat sick if he eats the rat?
A

There is not very much of the active ingredient in each block of Ditrac All Weather Blox when a rat consumes it. A cat would have to either more than their body weight to be affected by the poison. Ditrac and other rodenticides should be stored out of reach of pets and children and used in tamper-resistant stations to avoid any accidentail poisoning.
