Product Overview

QuickSilver T&O Herbicide is a selective post-emergent that provides ultra-fast weed control with visible results in just 24 hours after application. QuickSilver can be added as a tank mix with any post-emergence herbicide or fungicide to increase the kill and elimination of perennial broad-leaf weeds. QuickSilver T&O Herbicide is effective in both cool and warm climates.

Although QuickSilver is tough on broadleaf weeds, it is gentle on a variety of grasses including Bermudagrass and St. Augustinegrass, even in newly seeded, sodded or sprigged areas. Carfentrazone-ethyl, the active ingredient in QuickSilver herbicide, is one of the most environmentally sensitive herbicides available. It does not impact birds or earthworms and is unlikely to harm honeybees.

General Information

QuickSilver T&O Herbicide is a contact herbicide with little or no residual activity that provides selective post-emergence control of broad-leaf weed and silvery thread moss (Bryum argenteum) in turf-grass. It is an aryl triazolinone herbicide, which interrupts chlorophyll synthesis and produces metabolic byproducts that disrupt plant cell membranes. This process only occurs in susceptible green plants in the presence of light.

QuickSilver T&O Herbicide rapidly penetrates into the plant cell and symptoms may be apparent of foliage of susceptible weeds in 24 hours or less. Complete desiccation and death occurs within 7 to 14 days of application. QuickSilver T&O Herbicide is rainfast within one hour after application.

QuickSilver is most effective when applied to actively growing winter and summer annual seedlings. It also increases the speed of kill and expands the spectrum of control of mature and perennial broad-leaf weeds when applied in a tank mixture with other post-emergence herbicides.

Cool-Season Grasses (Creeping Bentgrass, Colonial Bentgrass, annual Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, fine Fescues, Red Fescues, Tall Fescue, Perennial Ryegrass)

Warm-Season Grasses (Common & Hybrid Bermudagrass, Bahiagrass, Buffalograss, Centipedegrass, Seashore Paspalum, St. Augustine-grass, Zoysia-grass)

    Results were worth the money!

    By Steve on 04/29/2011

I purchased an 8 ounce bottle of Quicksilver T&O herbicide on the advice of a Delaware country extension blog site telling me that this product would kill 95+ % of the Star of Bethlehem that was taking over my lawn. I've tried other products for 10 years to rid myself of this tenacious weed with limited success. I also purchased non-ionic surfactant to assist the herbicide. The Quicksilver worked a wonder. Practically all the Star of Bethlehem was killed and a host of other noxious weeds as well. My lawn looks like a golf course!  Very, very few weeds. The herbicide is on the expensive side, but the results were worth it if you are as OCD as I am about having a healthy, good-looking lawn.

    QuickSilver Herbicide

    By William on 12/21/2014

    Verified Purchase

Have purchased a lot of expensive herbicides from here. As always - excellent service. However, this product does not work on 'Florida pusley'. Really disappointed about $145.00 that does not work.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
Quicksilver Herbicide is labeled for Florida pusley. Per the product label: "As a stand-alone product: Apply Quicksilver at rates of 1.0 to 2.1 fluid ounces of product per acre (0.023 to 0.048 fl. oz. per 1000 sq. ft.) for control of seedling (4 inches tall or less) winter and summer annual weeds [list includes FL pusley]. Use a non-ionic surfactant in the spray mix at a rate of 0.25% volume/volume. Follow all adjuvant manufacturers guidelines." If weeds are not actively growing, then they will be more difficult to control with selective herbicides such as Quicksilver. Q
How much Quick Silver do I mix per gallon of water?
A
As with most herbicides the exact volume of water is not very important, you just need to be sure you are getting the correct amount of product on a specific area. In the case of Quicksilver you will need to use 0.021 - 0.154 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft of area. You can apply the specified amount of product in 0.5 to 4.0 gallons (plus specified amount of surfactant) per 1000 sq.ft.. Use higher spray volumes when there is a dense weed population or turfgrass canopy or where uniform coverage is difficult to obtain. For spot treating weeds, other than moss, with hand-held or backpack sprayers mix 0.030 fluid ounces (0.9 milliliters) of this product in one to two gallons of water to treat 1000 square feet. Please refer to the QuickSilver product label for complete usage instructions.

How much Quick Silver do I need to use in a 20 gallon tank for silvery moss?

My application is to cover 1,000 sq. ft. at a time. How often do I treat and I need to be aggressive as a wet summer has the moss in rapid growth. 23,000 sq. ft. fescue, 10,000 sq. ft. burmuda. Thank you; I am a 73 yr. old female and need to know the ounces to put in this 20 gal. tank. Thank you so much!

A
You will need to use 0.154 fluid ounces per 1000 square feet. Since youa re using a 20 gallon tank you can use 3.08 fl oz per 20 gallon tank to cover 20,000 sq ft.
