    Q
How often do I need to treat for roaches?
I thought i had them all under control (didn't see them) for months till my daughter and grand kids moved back in. Now I am starting to see some of them again. I'm getting a kit to treat the house (1900sqft). Once I do the treatment, when should i have to treat again? Is there any thing that I can use for under the house since it is off grade to help keep them out?
    A
When treating roaches it all depends on how bad the problem is as to how many times you have to treat.  Once the problem is under control and you do not see any more roaches, it is recommended to spray something once every 30 to 60 days inside and outside your home to help keep the problem from coming back.  Spraying inside and outside every 30 to 60 days will also keep all other pests out of your home.  The Demon WP in the roach control kit that you purchased is great for treating under and around the house to keep pests out.

    Q
How many roach kits should we purchase to effectively stop the roach infestation?
We live in a 1200 square foot 3 bedroom 2 bath with a large utility room. We have a pretty bad infestation of roaches in our kitchen and utility room and will occasionally see the roaches in all other rooms of the house. How much of this product should we purchase to effectively stop the roach infestation?
    A
The Roach Control Kit # 2 contains enough of each product to effectively treat an average home but severe infestations may take several months to eliminate and may require multiple treatments. Sanitation plays a key role in eliminating roach infestations as well. Be sure to wipe out sinks to remove moisture at the end of the night, vacuum and mop under and behind appliances to remove food debris, take out trash every night, limit food consumption to one room. We would recommend starting with one kit and purchasing more products if needed.

    Q
What can we use for a bad roach problem that would be safe around kids and pets?
We have two young kids, cats, dogs, birds and one really bad roach problem. We called a company to come out, but they only put out traps and said they would have to do it every six months. It seems to have only made it worse. What would be the best treatment to rid our house of these pests, but is safe for us and our pets?
    A
All of the products in the Roach Control Kit #2 would work very well to help eliminate roaches and are safe to use around pets and children when applied as directed on the product label. When the actual application of the Demon WP is being made, all pets and children should be out of the house and they can return as soon as the treated areas are dry. The Advion roach bait gel should be placed directly into cracks and crevices around counters, sinks, drawers and cabinets. This will make the gel available to the roaches and inaccessible to your pets and children. The Gentrol Point Source do not actually contain any insecticides, just an insect juvenile growth hormone mimic. These discs can also be placed out of reach of children and animals and are readily used in sensitive locations such as hospitals and day cares everyday. Severe infestations may take several months to eliminate no matter what products you use. Sanitation will be a key factor in eliminating the roaches. Please take a few minutes to read the hints and tips in our German Cockroach article to learn more about roach elimination.

    Q
How do I use the Roach Control Kit #2?
I'm not quite sure how to use the DuPont Advion that I received from you today. I read the instructions but still uncertain. Am I supposed to run it along every inch of my home? Like caulking or just place it here and there? Also the inhibitors, I got the #2 kit, how many should I use? And the mix for the spray, when should I use it? Do I use it in areas where I didn't use the Advion? Sorry to appear so ignorant, I'm a bit freaked out about this whole roach thing. Haven't had a problem in 20 years. My daughter brought them home with her from a friends house who is infested and now they are all over my kitchen and it's freaking me out.
    A
The Advion Roach Bait gel should be applied by placing one small pea sized dot every 10-12 inches directly into cracks and crevices around counters, sinks, drawers and cabinets. You should use one Gentrol Point Source disc for every 75 sq ft of space. In order to know how many discs you should use you would need to know the square footage of the room (multiply the length of the room by the width of the room). Demon WP should be sprayed outdoors around door frames, window frames, in areas where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure, around the bottom of the foundation and other areas where insects are known to harbor. Inside you should apply Demon WP along baseboards, in cracks and crevices, under appliances, around door frames, window frames and in areas where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure.

What chemical/product do professionals use to kill roaches in an apartment?
For 2 yrs I have been fighting a roach problem in my apartment with all the products they have at Walmart, Target, and Walgreens, but I still see about 5 a day walking on the walls, and 7 at night in the kitchen when I turn on the lights. I ran into an old coworker who now works at a big name pest control company who said that I can buy the chemical that they use online but he didn't tell me the name of the chemical or product or the website where I can buy it. He said that if I have roaches walking on the wall in the daytime, that I have a problem. I want to know what I can buy that is stronger than what I can buy at the regular stores.
    A
We are not exactly sure which product each professional company choses to apply for roach control but we do offer professional strength products that will eradicate them. Our most popular product for roaches is our Roach Control kit #2.  It comes with everything you need to take care of a roach infestation, and it has a very high success rate because it comes with the same professional products that a professional company would use if you hired them. Of course the treatment works best if you are doing your part to keep your apartment very clean, leave no crumbs or dishes in the sink at night, take out trash every night, and make sure all counter tops are wiped down thoroughly.

    Q
What is the best product to get to get rid of my roach infestation??!!
I have a bad infestation in my house and I am sick of buying products that don't work! I need something that really works and is worth my money because I'm sick of them taking over my house!
    A
We recommend using 3 products together to get rid of roaches. A roach bait gel, an IGR (insect growth regulator), and a residual insecticide. We offer all three products in the Roach Control Kit 2. This professional kit includes 1 packet of Demon WP Insecticide (which makes 4 gallons of finished solution) for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get 4 x 30 gram tubes of Advion Roach Bait Gel--one of the best roach baits on the market. Advion can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other hidden roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, 20 Gentrol Point Source stations provide an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) that will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. Demon WP must be applied with a 1 gallon pump sprayer. It is very important that you do your part by making sure your home is impeccably clean while trying to get rid of a roach infestation. Poor sanitation will lead to roach control failure.

    Q
I have German cockroaches that are living under my deep-freezer. What is the best way to get rid of them?
I noticed that I would see a roach once in while, but I just figured they would go away since I keep the area pretty clean. They were coming in the house from the nasty neighbors next door. I'm still seeing them once in a while. I really need to get rid of them. I have two very small children and I need help as soon as possible.
    A
One of the first things you should do is get someone to help you move the freezer and clean the area thoroughly. Dropped food or drinks can easily accumulate under or behind big appliances (or even on the bottom, sides or back of the appliance itself) and roaches can thrive on these forgotten items. After cleaning, you can apply a roach bait gel such as Advion Roach Bait Gel. The roaches will consume the gel and then transfer the gel to other roaches helping to eliminate the infestation. You should also use an IGR (or insect growth regulator) such as Gentrol. Gentrol will help interrupt the breeding cycle of the roaches while you are trying to get rid of the infestation. Last, you can use a good residual insecticide such as Demon WP around the perimeter of the room. Demon WP will help get rid of the roaches that are emerging from under the walls (a favorite hiding place for roaches is wall voids) and it will help stop the roaches from moving to other rooms. We have all three items available in the Roach Kit #2 for your convenience.

What is the strongest poison for cockroaches?
    A
Indoor roach infestations usually require more than one product because roaches like to hide in many different places and sprays alone are usually not enough. Most of our customers purchase our Roach Control Kit 2. This professional kit includes 1 envelope of Demon WP Insecticide (which makes 4 gallons of finished solution) for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath large appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get 4 x 30 gram tubes of InVict Gold Roach Bait Gel. The roach bait can be applied up high in the corners of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. Q
How do you "pre-treat" an apartment?
I have never lived in an apartment before and I am moving into one at the end of the month. I know one bad apple can spoil a bunch when it comes to apartment complexes and the insects that also make themselves at home there. I am a very clean person and to be truthfully honest, roaches make me cry! ( I am very afraid of them). Is there anything I can do to safeguard my apartment prior to moving in so that I can do my best to ward off potential bugs. If so, how can I go about maintenance?
    A
Living in an apartment is definitely a situation you have to monitor closely.  You may be very clean but a bad neighbor who is not can cause their roach problem to move into your apartment.  To battle this issue, and to treat before you move in, you should get the roach control kit #2. The kit comes with a spray which is Demon WP.  You will need a 1 gallon hand pump sprayer which does not come with the kit  but we do sell if you don't have one.  Demon WP is a powder you mix with water in a 1 gallon sprayer and apply to all of the baseboards, underneath appliances, where pipes go into the wall under the sinks and behind toilets, water heater closet, etc.  Demon WP will kill all insects, and should provide a good knock down before you move in and ensure anything crawling around is dead. The other products in the kit, roach gel and IGR, should be put out only if you see a roach so you can get rid of the problem before it gets worse.

Insecticides alone will not get rid of all of the roaches. You should be using a roach bait gel and an insect growth regulator too. We have all the products you need for roach control in are Roach Control kit #2. Is there any long term health concern for Demon WP soaking into carpet?
My apartment floor is covered in carpet. The roaches are seen along the baseboard crawling out of the carpet. I will try to lift the edge of the carpet as much as possible to spray Demon WP into the baseboard crevice. However it's likely some of the spray will be absorbed by the carpet. Is this a health concern for us living in the apartment?
    A
No, there is no health concern.  You should apply Demon WP around the perimeter of the rooms and try to keep it confined to on top and underneath baseboards as much as possible.  However, even though some will get onto the carpet near the baseboard this should not be an issue.  When mixed with water and applied properly, products like Demon are only strong enough to kill small insects and nothing else.

I am just getting started doing my own home pest control
My pest control guy (after years of faithful service) has disappeared. Rather than go through the trials and tribulations of finding someone trustworthy, I am going the DIY route. I am very handy but admit that I haven't the foggiest idea on how to get started. My main concern at the moment is roaches. I am starting to see more of them (house has not been sprayed in over a year). I also had a mouse problem. Never caught it(them) but have not seen any new traces. I would like an all in one solution to protect my home from these pests. What should I use? Thanks in advance.

How to get rid of German Roaches in Drain Pipes?
I see german roach nymph in my drain pipes. It's never been a problem before but it seems to be getting worse. How do I fix this problem. Thanks!
    A
It is rare that you would ever have roaches truly coming from your drain pipes. Most of the time when people see roaches coming out of their drain, it is only ones that have crawled down into it from your sink first and are then re-emerging. Unless you have a cracked pipe either in your home or somewhere in the sewage line for the city that leads into your home, the source is elsewhere. The best way to treat for roaches is to attack it full on before it becomes a huge infestation as they can reproduce quickly. We suggest using our Roach Control Kit #2 as this has everything you will need to completely eliminate all of the roache that are there as quickly as possible. The products in the kit provide you with two different poisons that they will take back to the colony you dont see to eliminate them at the source, as well as a birth control that will halt the growth of the colony until they die from the other products. You can also review our guide on How To Get Rid of German Roaches for tons of helpful information for controlling this species effectively. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
What do you recommend for Palmetto Bugs?
I have Terminix come on a 1-2 month basis and I still see palmetto bugs, what else can I do? We have sealed everything except the AC ducts which are impossible to get to in the attic, and the AC unit in the garage, which is also hard to reach opening to crawl space.
    A

    Sanitation
Like most pests, Palmetto Bugs require 3 things to thrive-food, water, and harborage. If you can eliminate even one of these things through proper sanitation, the roach population will be forced to either die or move someplace else.

    • Discard old boxes and piles of papers where roaches can hide.
    • Use a waste bin or trash can with a tight fitting lid and keep trash in a close plastic bag overnight.
    • Fix leaky drains and faucets; roaches can live on water alone.
    • Clean kitchen appliances thoroughly
    • Empty pet food containers at night, or place them on the back porch or in a plastic bag.
    • Vacuum regularly, and restrict food consumption to one room of the house. This will help keep Palmetto Bugs and other pests from spreading into others areas such as bedrooms.

    Exclusion
Palmetto Bugs prefer to live outdoors, but will easily set up residence indoors if they can find their way inside. Exclusion is about keeping Palmetto Bugs out, or at least making it harder for them to get in.

    • Caulk and repair holes around doors, windows, water pipes and baseboards.
    • Place mesh screens over windows, floor drains, and vents. These places serve as roach hideaways.
    • Windows and doors should fit tightly and squarely within their frames to prevent both harborage and entry from outside.

    Step 2)
Chemical Methods for Palmetto Bug Control

    Dust Cracks & Crevices

    • The dusts that work best against Palmetto Bugs are Delta Dust and CB Borid Boric Acid.
    • Using a hand duster and following label instructions, apply dust liberally where roaches travel--underneath and behind baseboards, behind wall outlets, in wall voids, in cupboards and cabinets, and underneath appliances such as washers and dryers.

Apply a Liquid Residual to the Perimeter

    • Demand CSSuspend SC, or Demon WP provide excellent control when mixed in a 2 gallon sprayerand applied at a low-pressure setting.
    • Spray indoors along baseboards, especially in corners; window and door frames, on the underside of furniture, behind bookshelves, and in other problem areas as listed on the product label. With Palmetto bugs, the outher perimeter of the home or structure should also be treated.
    • Residual sprays need to be reapplied every month to every 3 months, depending on the level of infestation.

    Baits

    • Use Niban FG in attics, basements, and crawlspaces where Palmetto Bugs enter, and
    • For added protection, spread DeltaGard G Granules outdoors in pine straw and mulched areas surrounding the infested structure.

    Kill ‘em on Contact
Contact sprays will kill roaches immediately on contact, and can also be used to "flush out" roaches from suspected harborages. Contact Sprays for Palmetto Bugs include CB-80 ExtraCy-Kick, D-Force HPX565 Plus XLO.

    Don't Skip the IGR!
An IGR is a chemical used to disrupt and impede the life cycle of insects in the egg and larvae stage of development. The idea with an IGR is that if an insect cannot reach adulthood, it cannot reproduce. In short, IGR is a form of "birth control" for Palmetto Bugs and other pests, which helps to keep populations under control by preventing current and future infestations.

    • The most common and effective IGR for roach control is Gentrol IGRwhich comes in an aerosol ,concentrated liquidand point-source tablet.

    • We recommend Gentrol IGR Concentrate to be added to your hand sprayer and sprayed right along with your baseboard chemical ( Demand CSSuspend SC, or Demon WP).

    • For kitchen and bathroom areas, Gentrol Aerosol is the formulation of choice. Using the straw attachment, the IGR should be applied liberally to all visible cracks and crevices, including underneath, behind, and alongside appliances, behind outlets, along pipe collars, inside wall voids, and on top of kitchen cabinets near the ceiling.

    • Continue to apply IGR every 4 to 6 weeks for up to 6 months, or until all signs of infestation have been eliminated.

What is the best product to get rid of a major roach infestation in an apartment?

When dealing with a major roach infestation you need to use a few products together to gain control. The Roach Control Kit #2 is perfect for roach control problems in homes and apartments. This professional kit includes 1 packet of Demon WP Insecticide (which makes 4 gallons of finished solution) for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get 4 x 35 gram tubes of Invict Gold Roach Bait Gel--one of the best roach baits on the market. Q
Will Roach Control Kit #2 work in an apartment?
I live an a multi-unit apartment building. The building is rather old, so there are plenty of places roaches hide. Will this work even if my neighbors are not treating their units? Will I have to fend off their roaches, if I've killed my own? Note, I've already tried to seal off every crevice with silicone caulking, and I still see many of them, but fewer of the really big ones and an overall reduction by about 30%. However, I think the roaches are coming back, since I'm not treating with anything other than glue traps.
    A
Yes, the Roach Control Kit #2 will do a great job eliminating roaches in your apartment. You may also consider using an insecticide dust such as MotherEarth Dust in cracks, crevices and wall voids to help get rid of invading roaches from neighboring units. Unfortunately because you share walls with units that are not being treated your chances for a reinfestation is quite high. It is important to make sure your sanitation is superior so that roaches are not attracted to your apartment and caulking all the cracks and crevices you could will also be helpful.

    Q
Is the Roach Control Kit #2 safe for dogs?
I have a small Boston Terrier occasionally chases roaches and eats them. I was wondering if I used the products in the kit, if my dog were to eat a roach that had been poisoned, would it hurt my dog? Should I board my pet for any length of time after treating my home? We don't have a large roach problem. We are about to have our first child, and we wanted to try and eliminate as many as we could before we brought her home. Thanks for your help.
    A
All of the products in our Roach Control Kits are safe to use in a home with pets, as long as the product labels are followed. Your dog should be out of the area while the Demon WP is being sprayed and until the treated area is dry (about an hour). The Advion Roach Bait Gel should only be applied to cracks and crevices that are out of reach of the dog, and the Gentrol Point Source should be used in areas that are inaccessible to the dog. There is no need to worry about any type of issues from your dog eating roaches that have been in contact with any of the products in the kit. There is only enough insecticide in these products to kill a roach, not enough to have any effect on a mammal. There is no need to board the dog away from the house.
