    Q
What happens when i put too much Talstar P into a gallon of water?
    A

Mixing too much of an insecticide like Talstar P (Talstar One) is never recommended.  Over-application can make an area more repellent, causing insects to avoid it so that the product cannot do its job.

  • Asked by Rob from West Bloomfield, Michigan
    07/28/2013
    Q
The best way to spray Talstar on lawn.
When spraying for mosquitoes, is it better to spray a couple days before or a couple days after mowing? Or same day before/after? Also, is it better to spray a day following rain? Or after a few dry days?
    A
For the best application of Talstar P to your lawn, you want to first mow the grass a couple days ahead of application. You want to make sure there is no rain in the forecast at least 4 hours after application, to ensure the Talstar will stick. It is safe to spray Talstar in and around ornamentals, trees, shrubs, lawn, and can be used indoors as well.

    Q
What is the ratio for 4E diazinon for ants, bugs etc? Of course I lost the pamphlet
I also have a dog, any danger?? A large Lab..
    A
Residential uses of diazinon were outlawed in the U.S. in 2004. We were able to find product labels by searching for "diazinon 4E specimen label", but we would still recommend contacting the manufacturer for advice on product  usage and safety. We have several products for general pest control that are readily available and are safe to use around humans and pets. Talstar P is one of our best sellers and is also one of safest products for use around the house and is very effective for over 75 different insects .

  • Asked by Anne from Grass Lake, Mi
    07/20/2015
    Q
What is the best time of day to apply Talstar for mosquito control?
Also, what range is needed to provide relief? We live in a heavily wooded area, and I would like to know how far into the "woods" we need to go.
    A

Talstar P (Talstar One) should be applied in the morning or evening especially during the summer. You really just need to focus on the tree line. Spray the undersides of leaves on the trees and shrubs. Focus on debris piles like leaf piles, pinestraw and shaded moist areas. Please see our Mosquito Pest Guide for more information about treating for mosquitoes.

  • Asked by Leo from Ocala Fla
    04/16/2013
    Q
What is the mixture ratio of Talstar P to kill mole crickets?
    A

We recommend using 1 fl oz of Talstar P per gallon of water. Use 2 gallons of solution/1000 square feet, immediate irrigation of treated area with at least 0.25 inches of water following application to ensure efficacy of sub-surface pests such as,
but not limited to, Mole Crickets, is recommended.

Mole Cricket adults: Achieving acceptable control of adult mole crickets is difficult because preferred grass areas are subject to continuous invasion during the early spring by this extremely active stage. Applications should be made as late in the day as possible and should be watered in with up to 0.25 inches of water immediately after treatment. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate
before application to bring the mole crickets closer to the soil surface where contact with the insecticide will be maximized. Grass areas that receive pressure from adult mole crickets should be treated at peak egg hatch to ensure optimum control of subsequent nymph populations (see below).

Mole Cricket nymphs: Grass areas that received intense adult mole cricket pressure in the spring should be treated immediately prior to peak egg hatch. Optimal control is achieved at this time because young nymphs are more susceptible to insecticides and they are located near the soil surface where the insecticide is most concentrated. Control of larger, more damaging, nymphs later in the
year may require both higher application rates and more frequent applications to maintain acceptable control. Applications should be made as late in the day as possible and should be watered in with up to 0.25 inches of water immediately after treatment. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate before application to bring the mole crickets closer to the soil surface where contact with the insecticide will be maximized.

    Q
Will talstar p kill flies if sprayed everywhere we see flies?
    A
Talstar P can be sprayed in many areas of the lawn where flies are present to try and control the population. It cannot be sprayed on any edibles but ornamentals, trees, bushes and lawns can be spraye with the Talstar safely. Any area you spray the Talstar, if a fly lands on any of the treated surfaces it will die from it as it grooms itself and ingests it.

  • Asked by Mario
    04/16/2010
    Q
How do I get rid of sand flies or Noseeums?
    A
These insects do not truly infest a home as they do not reproduce in the indoor environment, but they may still be abundant inside if their breeding site is close by. Unfortunately the breeding sites for these flies are so numerous and varied, it is impossible to eliminate them all. These tiny pests are small enough to crawl through the average window screen and fit through cracks and crevices around windows and door frames.

You can help prevent these flies from entering your home by spraying a barrier application of Talstar P paying special attention to window frames, window screens, door frames, and cracks and crevices that may be used as points of entry.  A screen with a very fine mesh (smaller than 16mesh) will help prevent entry. Additionally it may be helpful to keep ceiling fans and window fans on at high speeds to keep insects out of small areas.

If flies have already entered your home and you need immediate control use Microcare. This product offers a fast knockdown and kill of flying insects, giving you immediate relief.

    Q
Does Talstar-P kill stink bugs and box elder bugs?
If so, does it only kill them on contact, or will it remain effective for newly arriving bugs?
    A
Talstar P does work for stinkbugs and boxelder bugs. Talstar P does not have an immediate knockdown effect but it does leave a long lasting residual. We do encourage our customers to apply Talstar P once a month through the stinkbug/boxelder bug season (August-November).

  • Asked by Jen from Baltimore, Md
    07/02/2012
    Q
How long does it take from when a bug comes into contact with Talstar until it dies? 1 hour? one day?
does that timeline vary from bug to bug?
    A
How long it takes an insect to die after coming into contact with an area that has been sprayed with Talstar P will depend on several factors. How long has the Talstar P application been in place (the longer it has been there the more degraded it is and the longer it will take an insect to die), age and size of the insect, What species is the insect (insects with piercing sucking mouth parts such as spiders and scorpions take longer to succumb) and How long has the insect sat on the dry deposits of Talstar P. Generally speaking you can expect most insects to die within 24-48 hours of contact.

  • Asked by Rick
    05/06/2010
    Q
How should I use Talstar to get rid of millipedes?
I bought Talstar P (Talstar One) to get rid of millipedes. The millipedes are around my garage doors on both my garages and they are slowly getting into my home. I have used this product per the directions, but it hasn't made a difference. It kills the ones I can see, but the next day more are back. I have not only sprayed the perimeter of my house/garages, but all the cracks in the concrete. what am I doing wrong?
    A
What concentration are you using? We recommend using the highest rate of 1 ounce per gallon of water for millipedes. Also, insects do not die as soon as they touch Talstar P. It takes time for them to actually die after coming in contact with the dry residual. You need to give the product time to work. Millipedes are going to be in areas that have a lot of moisture, so finding a way to get rid of some of the moisture will be helpful too. If you have mulch around your house you need to make sure you rake it back at least 6 inches from the base of the house and turn the mulch frequently.

  • Asked by Anthony from Dandridge, Tn
    04/25/2013
    Q
Will Talstar P be effective for killing carpenter bees?
I see that Demand CS (lambda-csi) is specifically labeled to kill carpenter bees, but is much more expensive. Also is dusting the nest necessary, or will re-spraying the nest periodically (monthly?) be effective as well to kill larvae?
    A
Talstar P is very effective for controlling carpenter bees. We do recommend dusting the actual nests because the dust will last longer than a liquid. This is important because it can take a while for the egg to hatch and for the larvae to come into contact with the product.
